Mr Poltroon Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Basically, it works fine. However, sometimes it says "Sorry couldn't find that" I just had it happen and should've saved the link it was trying to send me to (which I am assuming, and I know nothing about this, is at fault), but I forgot. It's only happened to me in "Ongoing Projects" but that might have nothing to do with it. I'm better at answering questions than at stating everything flat out, so if you want to know more, just ask. Kendjin Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I don't even know where this button is. Quote
Mr Poltroon Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 I don't even know where this button is. It's one of the grey ones at the bottom of a thread, like the "Back to [whatever board you are on]". When there are more threads you haven't read yet, that button pops up. Quote
Kendjin Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I don't get this, clearly my forum experience is broken Quote
Nayleen Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Go to a forum that has a new post -> go to topic where you've read everything -> scroll down -> Link should be there. It's working for me, but I didn't know about this feature before today either, so it's hard to pin the problem down. Might be a race condition where you've opened tabs for new unread topics, marking them as read in the process (the forum software does this when opening a thread), causing the link to not have any unread posts to go to next, and showing an error message instead. Edit: Confirmed that a "Sorry, we couldn't find that." page is shown in that case. Take any link in a topic in which forum you've viewed everything else and add ?view=getnextunread to it to get the error message. Quote
Kendjin Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I just use view new content at the top. So the view unread only works in a forum? Quote
Mr Poltroon Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 Wow, noone knows this feature. It iss one of the more useful ones for me, and one of those I use the most. I didn't think I opened them in new tabs, but that is exactly the error I'm getting so... Quote
Nayleen Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 So it's a feature, not a bug, race condition, /close kthxbye or is there a deeper issue I need to drive to dive into? Quote
Mr Poltroon Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 Assuming that is the actual case, then yes. The reason I made this in the first place is that I was convinced I still had unread topics and hadn't opened any new tabs. Quote
Nayleen Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Try to catch the error next time (should it happen again) and I'll try to see if there's anything wrong with the feature, even though I can't promise anything. IPB's internals is something I don't like messing with. Quote
astro Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Might be a race condition It doesn't work for Portuguese people Quote
