VNDango Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Is it possible to run If My Heart Had Wings on a MAC with the steam release and 18+ patch? I have a friend who wants to play this but has a Macbook that cannot run specific Steam games. Quote
Deep Blue Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 it's already ultra bugged with the patch on pc..it doesnt support mac as far as i know but even if it did it would be a total mess. Quote

VNDango Posted February 8, 2015 Author Posted February 8, 2015 Well for other novels, which is the best program to run VN's on a MAC Quote
Deep Blue Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 you might want to check this list: https://vndb.org/v/all?q=;fil=plat-mac.tagspoil-0;o=d;s=rating and i really dont know of any programa every vn is different but did you try with winebottler? Quote
douggle Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 You can use Wine, or crossover Mac to run Konosora, it runs decent enough. Quote
ExtraMana Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 You can run dual boot on a Mac to create a Windows partition for all your games. You could use the Windows 10 technical preview to get a free copy of windows http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/preview-iso I run dual boot for all my games, translated VN, as well as Steam works perfectly. There is also parallels but that isn't free and it's needlessly troublesome. Guide on how to use dual boot on a Mac, I can answer any questions you have on it but you should find it pretty simple. http://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac/how-run-windows-on-mac-3497251/ Quote

ExtraMana Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 You CAN go this route, but honestly its not necessary for most vns. Quote
douggle Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Running the game natively via Windows on dual boot gives best compatiability. I've found trying to use Wine for my other non-VN games or virtually emulating the Windows OS within OSX to give me problems with having the software allocate resources properly. But if VN's aren't as troublesome as Western games then fair enough, I just like this method because it foolproof. A lot of people refuse to run Windows on their Mac's though, even through paraellels, Wine does work and well for the most part. AND if its a onscripter VN there is a onscripter engine for mac that makes them run Native. Quote

OS's are nothing more than tools, I dislike Windows 8.1 but It's a useful tool so I use it. Let bygones be bygones if other people don't want to utilize the most elegant solution then that's fine.
