What makes you drop a vn?

Translation is not an issue since I haven't read a translated VN in 10 years or so.

 

I filter out things like character and situation before starting, so those don't cause me to drop. Those cause me to never start.

 

I usually drop when

1) It's trying to tug my heartstrings but fails. Miserably.

2) Goes into cliche cut-paste territory I've seen 100x before.

 

I should note here that I could give one route quite high marks, and drop the game due to the next one. Or fast forward through the thing if that counts as dropping.

 

I've always liked single-route vns better anyway.

I haven't dropped any VN's yet, although i have only read 5 vn's fully now.  But if i had to say what would make me want to drop one is probably if i kept reading and the story wasn't getting anywhere and i would probably just get bored and stop.  Then move onto another Vn.

I don't like dropping VNs, so I usually push through even if I don't really like it - but if the story is extremely dull with not even an comedy to keep it entertaining, that's too much even for me.

Well, I did drop Secret Game, and KonoSora was hanging between being dropped and stalled for over a year now. :x

I almost dropped Dracu-riot because the common route was mediocre, all that "comedy" with accidental pervert moments really tested my patience but two heroines made the suffering worth it.
