mbl Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 I've got a CFW PSP and a 3DS with gateway. Don't use them nearly enough. GBA>3DS>PSP>NDS Though PSP wins on the VN-esc game front. Quote
kyrt Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Honestly I'm pretty much done with handhelds. I currently have a PSP and a 3DS and won't be upgrading to the next handheld (or console) anytime soon. I have a ton of games on my backlog and plenty of games for PC/PS3/PS2/PS1 that I still need to play so handhelds are simply unnecessary. A lot of my reasoning behind disliking handhelds these days has to do with nintendo. I don't mind some of their games (really hoping the new fire emblem is still on a handheld I own) but honestly it's getting to the point I simply don't like their business practices. The announcement of the New 3DS really irked me. Quote

Pyonnu Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Handheld consoles such as GBA, GBC, and DS Lite were my childhood, I stopped using handheld consoles after that though. I still love the old Pokemon and Metroid games and I wouldn't mind going back to them... if I ever find them that is. Quote
sarkasmus Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I played a lot on Nintendo Handhelds when I was a child, now I only play on PSP (I bought a second one a while ago just in case the first one breaks) and PS Vita (most underrated Handheld in my opinion). I use them as much as my consoles and PC. Quote
Fred the Barber Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Since graduating college (more years ago than I will admit), I've been commuting to work on the bus, about 1 hour per weekday on average. All that time gets spent either reading a book or playing a portable console, so I really spend a lot of time with portable consoles (probably more gaming time than with home conoles, lately, though that's somewhat cyclic). I would both love and dread to go back through my game library and see how many tens (hundreds?) of hours I spent on each of The World Ends With You, Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, the various Disgaea games, and on and on... Kendjin Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Picked up a N3DS XL and enjoying Pokemon, Shin Megami Tenshi IV and Fire Emblem on it. (oh and Majora's Mask) As unpopular the VITA is, it lends itself to VNs and quite a lot of JP games. Oh and the 3D on the new one is actually nice. SilverLi 1 Quote
Stray Cat Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Emulate 'em. Never played Gen 1 games (too young), yet I have the Red, Yellow, Crystal and Silver ROMs on my desktop, as well as the actual cartridge for Silver lying around. There's even an emulator that lets you trade with yourself, in case you're a completionist like me and must have a completed Dex if it's within your power to obtain one. Don't try to actively find a cartridge, they'll be expensive as hell unless you find someone that doesn't know what they're selling is worth. Quote
Eclipsed Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 That was in 2013; cartridge prices skyrocked 9000% in the last one and a half years jk obviously. ~~ When they finally added Backlight to the GBA via GBA SP the mindblow i felt was probably equivalent to caveman making fire Quote

Amuzie Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Well have to play the phoenix Wright games somehow. Maybe you can play them on pc dunno. And i don't think it would be as fun playing them on a PC. Quote

PW games have a very small emphasis on dual screen AFAIK (given how the original PW games was for the GBA and all) so feel free to emulate them Quote

Same goes for a lot of "Endless runner" games for example. Quote
