bookFiend Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Hey everybody! I'm a long-time fan of anime and gamer. I guess I've been into visual novels for a while but I didn't know it. My first one was when I tried "Don't Take it Personally Babe, It Just Aint Your Story" on a whim. Then I found Katawa Shoujo, and Never7. Something made me try Narcissu, but it was too sad for me to even finish >.< So that kinda led me away from vn's for a while. Recently though, Analogue: A Hate Story n' its sequel got me back into them. But I'm glad to be here! I'm looking forward to talking to other people who play visual novels too! Pretty much no one I know has ever played one, other than maybe The Yahwg. What do you think I should try for my next one? Quote
havoc Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 welcome, and have a good time here. Also below this is my rambling, basically something i do when someone new comes around who might have a use for this. Fell free to ignore it if your not interested. Fate/stay night is a must play. It is nothing like the anime thing that carries its name. (well we do now in the unlimited blade works adaption) And we just have a new patch that has translated the realta nua version of the game. (wich is an all ages game so it does away with the H stuff and replaces it by something else) http://vndb.org/v11 Tsukihime Another must play, and no this one does not have a anime adaption. http://vndb.org/v7 (it is ancient, got no voice and no music. But it is so good) Muv Luv series, now Muv Luv extra is not that good and Unlimited is merely good but alternative is definitly a must read and to understand it completely you need to have read these two first. (I so hope muv luv alternative get's an anime adaption at some point) http://vndb.org/v93 (extra/unlimited) yes they are packed into one game http://vndb.org/v92 (alternative) g senjou maou Is also a must read. http://vndb.org/v211 clannad is also a must read and is together with fate/stay night one of the vn flagships, muv luv can possible also be considered a flagship. http://vndb.org/v4 Other than that there is Grisaia no Kajitsu wich is also a must read. (By the way, no panty shots in this one, just sex jokes by amane instead) http://vndb.org/v5154. As for a few good anime: (just me being random) Aria the animation: http://myanimelist.n...a_the_Animation Crest of the stars: http://myanimelist.net/anime/290. Quote
Deep Blue Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Welcome to the forums and the next novel you should read is sharin no kuni for sure (or muv luv extra/unlimited/alternative if you have like an entire week to read it) Yeah narcissu is really depressing but yet it's amazing and you should finish it because the ending is great (very sad but still superb) Quote
Althoris Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Welcome to Fuwanovel! What was your favourite Katawa Shoujo route? Quote

Eclipsed Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Hi I'm new here welcome to forums Try muv luv trilogy, steins:gate, Grisaia no kajitsu, or Rewrite! Quote
Fred the Barber Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Welcome to the forums! I'd say Rewrite or Little Busters!, so you can experience the magic that is a Key VN. Also, ... Take this random video: WTF did I just watch. Quote
bookFiend Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 Thanks for the welcome, everyone! Looks like I'll have a bunch to get through! I watched the first 2 episodes of the Fate Stay Night anime years go (not sure why I didn't see the whole show) and keep hearing good things. They made another anime for a 2nd route, so I should play the VN. Never heard of Sharin no Kuni, I gotta look that one up. I hear good things about Clannad, someone was trying to get me to watch the show once, but I was worried about moe overload. I'll give it a shot. I've seen the Stein's Gate anime, so I want to go through the VN too. I'm not looking forward to playing the "watch the adorable friend get killed over and over, helpless to prevent it" part, though. Fred, which of those two Key VN's was shorter when u went through them? I'm trying to not do too many long VN's at a time, otherwise I can't keep track. Althoris- the Lily route was my favorite (the feels, dangit). Also, it felt like they both actually talked dealt with eachothers' disabilities/challenges and not just hers, like some of the routes And Cruel, dang. That really was random. Lol. Quote
ScarfSeeker Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 I'm new too........ , to both this community and visual novels. I started reading some and recently fell in love. I'm pretty much more of an anime watcher. Narcissu for life. Quote
rainsismyfav Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Narcissu is good indeed~ Welcome fellow new people. Quote
