Not to diminish what the others have done, but at this point I don't really see a complete patch ever happening. If I was you, I'd go for it.

Though, if you are thinking about picking up the project, I would also consider starting the translation from scratch. Not to discredit anyone's work, but it was a rather messy process (especially with one of the translators).
