Kat Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Ok. You may see me as someone who's just complaining about stuff. But does everyone agree that Log Horizon became absolute shit in its second season? All this talk about what's right and what's wrong. It looks like it was simply made to give us some cliche moral lessons. The only reason I hung around for 20 episodes is because some characters seemed interesting and enjoyable, but as I came to realize how overused and simple they are, that they can be summarized in a single phrase, such as the ninja girl, the energetic girl, the leader guy and so on... For me, at least, it seemed a bit better on the first season, because the conversations were enjoyable, and the characters seemed a bit better executed than in the second... And doesn't it seem like the whole plot turned into something a bit too for kids? Sure there is violence and some other not for children elements, but... the whole show is a bit too much simple and cliche that it can't be considered a decent anime anymore. Quote
Fiddle Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Those who complain about the simplistic character structures simply can't comprehend the multi-dimensional masterpiece that is purple-haired homosexual guy. Nosebleed 1 Quote
Segai Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 If it's not about Shiroe, Crusty or Akatsuki it's probably boring. The first season was great but indeed, the second season falls a bit short. I often see myself being drawn to my tablet to read some news while watching it nowadays. I just keep watching it because I want to see Crusty coming back and Roe2 is somewhat interesting. Quote
XReaper Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 though season2 lacks a bit of the feeling i got from its predecessor, its definitely nowhere near shit-level or anything else. we get to see some different aspescts and hints to whats going on, as well what could have happened, there´s no need in my eyes for nonstop action. i bet next season is gonna blow your minds again, concerning the new two fractions (genius/fools), as well plant haywardens attempt to conquer akiba & nakasu. edit: krusty got transferred to another server & I bet he will team up with kanami and then lets go back to yamato SaintOfVoid 1 Quote
Segai Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Just watched episode 22 and it certainly got interesting again, if you dropped it be sure to watch again. Quote

I personally like cliches - at least if done well. Because good luck escaping them, as you get older you start to notice EVERYTHING is borrowed from something else. Just look at movies, books, and even games (as a more recent medium). As for "right and wrong" that's really a matter of perspective - they are probably using that element to maintain some form of gravity, since the permadeath angle really isn't an option. I recall in the first season when people were kidnapped/held hostage, that felt intense - despite it "just being a game". I think there is abit too much filler going on, but I'm still liking it - and my favorite part is how they bring up the question of "should npcs be treated as people" even if for the sake of ones own moral ground and not actually for the sake of the npcs. To be fair though, I'm basing my opinion off the 1st season - haven't seen anything from the second yet. Quote
XReaper Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 guess you´ll start marathoning it once its finished. Suzu Fanatic 1 Quote
