Ado13 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 About the game: With the Queen's Blade Tournament ongoing, rumors arise about a dark, mysterious power threatening to destroy all of Gainos. With the new heroes, Cute and Jean, and the rest of the Queen's Blade competitors, they seek to find the root of this power and destroy it to restore balance to the land. The game features tactical, turn based combat, with moves being decided prior to engaging an enemy. During battle, there is an armor based system that enables parts of armor to be broken off of most of the characters, excluding the males and creatures. There is also an relationship building part of the game, as such when certain characters have a higher affinity for each other they may be able to perform team based moves. If the affinity is high enough, the other character may jump in front of some attacks and take damage for the other character. Translation team: Translator: Final_Agent, leecherboy Programmer/Hacker: None, if anyone is willing to help contact me here or with a PM About the project: As you may know the previous translation project for this game ended with a patch that only translates some items and options because the translator was unable to extract the rest of the text from the game. We are attempting to restart the project and already have translators willing to do it, all we need now is a hacker that is capable of extracting the text from the game so that the translators can start working on it. As mentioned above if anyone is willing to help with that you can contact me here or with a PM. Quote
Kelebek1 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I tried looking into it when you posted it on GBATemp, but I can't for the life of me figure out where the toc is, or how it works. Quote

I see, well thanks for trying and hopefully someone will be able to do it so that we can finally start translating. Quote
xyz Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 At offset 0x17e1b0 in shared.bin there's a zlib-compressed block. After you cut the file you can decompress it using "openssl zlib -d < file.bin > file". There you will find shift-jis encoded text, for example, at offset 0xc752: "23 4D 40 82 A8 81 41 82 A8 8F EC 97 6C 81 60 81 63 81 49 40 91" which is "#M@お、お嬢様〜…!@速" which is the second message. Quote
Kelebek1 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Yeah shared.bin is a load of files, but where's the toc? You can't do anything with any of the files if you can't edit it. Quote
xyz Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Okay, there are multiple toc tables. First one is hardcoded in EBOOT.BIN, starts around offset 0x15dc88, at least the part related to shared.bin does. There are three fields per file: file offset (LBA in .iso), file size in bytes, and the third one I'm not sure about. At offset 0x15dcfc there's an entry for what I believe is a script file, it looks like "40 A2 07 00 6B 81 04 00 00 00 00 00". If then you look at 0x240b5800 in the ISO there's a LICE header, that's the second toc table. First 0x200 bytes are unknown, next 8 bytes I have no idea about either. Then there are 3 4-byte words per file, first is offset, second is decompressed size, third is compressed size. Files are located at LICE addr+0x200+offset. Quote
Kelebek1 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 LICE are archives themselves, they're a single file in shared.bin, they don't describe shared.bin itself. I see how it works now though, thanks. The list of files in the EBOOT is actually a bit different from what you said, it starts 1 dword back, at 0x15dc84. Then goes uncompressed size, LBA / 0x800, compressed size (0 if not compressed). Buuut, how are you supposed to compute these LBA positions, before you create the UMD? Mmm, that's weird and annoying. Probably have to do some forced LBA positioning ahead of time, giving yourself a bunch of space I suppose... Patch would be huge though since any sort of xdelta thing wouldn't work at all. I guess I'm thinking of it from an automated point of view, but doing it manually wouldn't be too bad, if you only did it once. That removes all the testing of their work though, if the translators/editors can't build it back in themselves... Ah well, I'm glad I know how it works now, I'll leave the rest to you~. Quote
Ado13 Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 Thank you both for the help, also would you be able to extract that for us since both the translators and i aren't that good on the technical side ? If you don't have the time to do it can you explain what programs we should use the open, extract or edit those files so that we can try it ourselves ? Quote
xyz Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 There are no tools, you will have to get somebody to write them. Quote
