So what are your visual novel ideas?

So, we all have an idea about a visual novel at somepoint in time, I thought it would be interesting to share.

Here's mine for a short 2-4 hour visual novel :

So you know in visual novels, when the MC starts narrating, the character sprites may just stand there while he's narrating? I figured, well what if they didn't move, and why?

So, here's my idea :

The VN would involve a MC who tends to go on long tangents during their narration. A sample would something along the sides of this :

MC enters school, describing it, and greets his two friends

The MC would then for example narrate about his friends in great detail, but there is a conversation in the background (ie : sprites moving) that you, the reader may only hear snippets of. For example the guy friend may say something like "Man, I miss her". The MC may then say "oh, man your girlfriend, huh?", and then he'd ramble on about guy's friend ex girlfriend.

Anyways, at the end of the visual novel, you then get to replay the game, except get to actually hear the conversations that you , the reader missed out. The twist would be that, the MC is actually female, and that she's dead. There will be hints of this throughout the snippets of conversation you hear. So in the example above, the girlfriend is actually the MC, and the reason the MC knows so much about what she and the guy did has a couple, was welll....because she's the girlfriend! 

 

So what are your ideas?

This was my super ambitious project from 2012. Obviously, it was never finished or at least got an alpha version. Reasons? Noob mistakes that's too many to list. But here goes:

Genre/Theme

Romance, Comedy(?), Tragedy, Supernatural.

Synopsis:

Ichirou is your average high school boy. His lifestyle is nothing special, he attends a common school and has a surplus of normal friends. Others often view him as a manifestation of “normal”. However, his normal days grew short as something strangely abnormal loomed over him.

 

As a child he has always had a recurring dream; a nightmare. Black mist consumes him slowly as shocks of pain spread throughout his body. As he grew the blackmist grew and the pain increased. Through intuition he felt his death was near, but fear did not reside within him, he had felt his demise for years now. 

 

On a brisk walk home from school he chances upon a strange man named Tenshi who claims to be an ambassador from God, an angel from heaven. He confirms Ichirou’s current state, but offers a proposal. “As you have lived a normal life, with minimal sin and corruption, God shall provide to you a single desire. He will permit you life all until you can achieve whatever desire you seek.”

 

Pleased with the proposal, Ichirou pondered on what his “desire” could be. Sadly, no answer came to him at the present moment. He looked upon the world and society through the eyes of an adult, but only saw greed, misery, and injustice. He then cleared his mind, and looked again at the world with eyes of a child. He sought attention; he wanted to experience love. Tenshi approved of his desire and set forth to put in stone, his journey to find true love. However, he is warned that in his path, if he strays from achieving love, his pact will be nullified and his life lost.

 

So begins the story of a normal boy seeking an extraordinary love.

There will be routes for each heroine stated above. It'll be linear however because of plot reasons. Basically MC is suppose to learn what true love is starting from the most "shallow" love known as Eros up to True Love.

Eros -> Philos -> Agape -> True Love

I can still provide some details on how the story/game goes. I even finished sketching the character designs and all, but I'll leave it at that.

I have ideas for Kinetic Novels...

With Higurashi quality drawings, oh yes.

More seriously, I have thought of a sci-fi dystopia wherein everyone lives in one big dream system. And then something in the system goes haywire and killing the people in in it. Haven't really fleshed out the idea to get a good grasp on it.

The route arrangement would be more like 999 and VLR wherein there's little to no romance and a true route that sums everything up.

Title - The Year

 

Christopher Joseph Hunter (Or Chris for short.) is a gifted american high school student who is set in his ways. He dislikes changes to his lifestyle so much he refuses to take the entrance test to take the advanced classes at his school. But change does happen when Timothy Kudo (Or Tim for short.) the CEO of the technology firm Kudo Technologies picks Chris to study in Japan for a year. The purpose of this is to test Tim's latest invention, The Kudo Badge. A pin that gives you full knowledge of the Japanese language while worn, allowing you to speak, understand, read, and write Japanese. At his Japanese school Chris gets roped into joining a school club his host Hayami Noro is starting with her three friends

How will Chris's year go? Will he learn to be more fluid with his life? And will he find love with one of four pretty girls at his Japanese school?

Hayami Noro - The eldest daughter of Chris's host family who is Sweet and Booksmart.

Fumiko Ito - One of Hayami's friends who is flirty and streetsmart

Hana Hada - Another of Hayami's friends who is athletic and has an attitude.

Rika Miyasato -  the last of Hayami's friends who is a shy fangirl of American movies.

 

That is pretty much my idea for a Visual Novel. Any advise and feedback would be appreciated.
