Kosakyun Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 I do not even know those enemies you are talking about Quote
Roach Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 I've played Advance Wars, Fire Emblem, and Limbo. So, maybe Super Robot Taisen: OG and Super Meat Boy. Quote
solidbatman Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 One more day to pick out the games. Right now its looking like Super Robot Taisen: OG for Retro. ?Modern is much closer right now with Limbo and Meat Boy neck and neck Quote
Kosakyun Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Pls Super Robot Taisen: OG. I want more mechas in my life. Quote
Getsuya Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I think I'll end up playing all the GBA games anyway regardless of which gets picked. I think SRW:OG is the one the least of us has played though (including me... I've played others in the series but not OG specifically) Quote
solidbatman Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Retro Club: Super Robot Taisen OG Modern Club: Limbo  Discussion threads go up May 1st. Quote
LinovaA Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Oh man. Super Robot Taisen. I don't know if I could approve anymore than I do right now. Quote
Getsuya Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 No limits this time? We just get as far as we can by May 1st? Â Edit: Just a quick tip for those starting up SRW:OG: You can see the Battle Mastery requirements for a mission by going to the pause menu (select any square with no one on it) and selecting 'Mission' then pressing over. Kosakyun Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Yes holy shit it's finally time for more mecha. Quote
Tesla Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Now I have a reason to get around to playing Limbo. I've had it in my library for a long time but never got around to playing it. Quote
Getsuya Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 I can't stop playing SRW:OG! I was worried it was going to be like SRW A, one of the other GBA games, but it's so much more smooth and straightforward (not to mention it's much easier reading through the plot in English.) I may just marathon the whole game in a single day! Someone stop me! Quote
Funyarinpa Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 STILL playing Aria Of Sorrow. Beat Death, and am now exploring several areas which were shut off because I could not sink in water. I really like this game! Quote

I really like this game! Busy Lazy as ever I see~  And if you really like it, wait until you try Symphony of the Night  Now time for me to play Super Robot Taisen and perhaps Limbo too if it' free. GetterEmperor Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 SRW:OG is pretty fun. Now if we could only get the other ones in English. Playing them in Japanese isn't hard, but it would make the experience much more epic. Quote
kyrt Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 I just realized I've been playing SRW: OG Saga: Endless Frontier... Â also not caring for Limbo the atmosphere is interesting but overall just don't care for it. Quote

Getsuya Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 I'm really enjoying it as well. But I'm a little intimidated by the myriad of upgrade options. Â Unit upgrading doesn't really change throughout the series and if you follow the golden rule of: Real robots get mobility and Energy, Super Robots get HP, Energy and Armor, Upgrade everyone's 'signature' weapon damage. you should be fine (spoilered in case people want to suss out the best ways to upgrade for themselves) Â However, this is my first time dealing with pilot upgrades, since the older games that I played didn't allow you to customize pilots. You really have to think hard about what each character's 'job' is going to be and build them accordingly. Â Also, the whole weapon-swapping thing is completely new. Since other SRW games involve mechs from anime usually they'll only have the canonical weapons from their anime equipped, but since OG is all original units they can trade weapons and stuff and equip upgraded weapons. That really blew my mind, and it makes it so you can keep the 'grunt' units relevant. Quote
Lexyvil Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Limbo's a shorter game, so I'll probably start with that one first~ Quote
Funyarinpa Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 I did see that SRW usually has robots from other anime, so is there any SRW game with a robot from Neon Genesis Evangelion? Quote
Getsuya Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 The Alpha series and MX have the original Evangelion and the original movies. L for the DS and the later Z games have the new Evangelion reboot movies. Â MX and Alpha are both very good starting points in SRW. MX is a stand-alone title with a lot of stuff that wasn't in other games (and less emphasis on Gundam, which all the other games have). Alpha is the start of a series of 4 games that determined a large chunk of the 'canon' for the SRW universe. While playing OG you'll run into tons of Alpha stuff (along with a bunch of Impact stuff, but we don't talk about Impact). Also Alpha goes through the whole Evangelion story, including the anime and original movies. Â If you're a fan of the new Eva stuff you can start from Z-2. Z-2 and Z-3 cover the plots of the three remake movies. Quote
Roach Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 I got black screen when I tried to play SRW. Managed to fix it and played until episode 2. Now I opened the game again and got black screen again. I hate this game so much. Â I guess I'll replay Limbo first. Quote
