Do you remember a particular line from a VN? You know, the one you went "OH FUCKING SHIT" at. The one that was the biggest plot twist. The line that forever changed your opinion of the VN. The one line you cannot forget. That one line that is the reason you love a VN so much. That one line that is the most influential in the whole VN.

For Umineko, I feel like the best ones are:

EP4 BIG Spoilers

"As the witch of miracles, I proclaim..."

"As the witch of certainty, I proclaim..."

"Beato will not have a miracle."

"Beato certainly will not win."

 

It was something to that effect. But it really shocked me and made me feel sorry for her. There's also:

"PLEASE KILL ME!"

 

This line really made you ponder Beato's nature, and I think that it's THE wham line of Umineko, considering its theme.

 

Remember11 (True ED spoilers)

"You're not the Yukidoh Satoru that I know."

 

This one's funny considering its the last line. In a sense, it is the most influential line of R11.

 

Higanbana no Saku Yoru ni (CH 3 Spoilers)

"What are you doing with my dress?!"

 

The first chapter in Higanbana that's REALLY good, and all because of this line.

Subarashiki Hibi ~Furenzoku Sonzai~ has quite a lot of Wham Lines throughout, but I'll just list the more prevalent ones that would be considered most shocking to many people including myself.

In Jabberwocky I:

「……横座るな。実在しないとしても暑苦しい……」

 

In Which Dreamed It:

 

「戸籍上は……現在、生きている君の兄さんは一人だけ……間宮家の長男……間宮皆守」

 

In Jabberwocky II:

 

「兄さんの使えばいいんだからね」

 

And pretty much the entirety of the final ending, 終ノ空ＩＩ. My mind returned to a blank state unable to process information after that, lolwtf.

 

In all of these instances, I majorly freaked out, inadvertently affecting the lives of the people who share the same living space with me. Really no other VN I've played after SubaHibi has blown my mind to such an extent using Wham Lines (except maybe Muramasa, Harukuru, and Kusarihime). I should probably play Dies Irae soon to overturn that statement, lol.
