i think that happens when a mod moves a thread while someone is in the middle of writing a post.

i think that happens when a mod moves a thread while someone is in the middle of writing a post.

That's exactly what happened, but don't tell anyone, okay? It was actually pretty amusing to see "NO_SUCH_EXISTING_THREAD" or whatever the default string is when I tried to immediately edit my post afterwards, and I was like "wut?"

The index shows the last reply in a thread even if it had been moved, it doesn't have to do with someone being in the middle of writing a post. I noticed this a couple months back when I moved a  thread myself.

To be exact, I started writing my post, Nimbus posted first, the thread was then moved from Visual Novel Discussion to Recommendations, then I posted while still under the VND thread on the browser level.  This caused a notification to appear in the VND after the thread had already been moved, yet still allow Nimbus to be the last poster in the Rec forum.

 

I'm still not sure how exactly it happened, or if I posted while it was still in the process of being moved.  Either way it comes out with the same thread as last posted on two different sub forums, by two different people.

 

The fact that I temporarily spoofed the system into putting a notification up for the wrong board is still unchanged, and it effectively negates the whole point of moving the thread in regards to the notification on a surface level.  IE. I became god by slipping through the cracks for a mere 10 minutes.

So next year on April Fools I'll need to write up a blog post about you being the deity to worship, as opposed to Scott? Got it.
