Another laptop problem

If there's any tech savvy people here I'd appreciate the help;

The issue is that my laptop refuses to hold a charge, if you hold the cursor over the icon, you can even see the % dropping. I recently purchased and replaced the battery, so that can't be the issue. The A/C adapter still acts like it's working (plugged in/charging) so I'm thinking it's not that either. Could it be an internal issue, or something else that i'm missing?

I would say defective battery (maybe try the old one if you still have it) or defective AC Adapter (maybe borrow a friends and try it).

 

Different combos might help you find the problem.

I have some similar issues from time to time.

It's very basic, and might be a stupid question, but did you try removing the battery and putting it again?

Depending on how your battery is positioned, it might not be in all the way, could also be that there's dust on the contacts.

I actually had this exact issue not too long ago, and it was a dead battery. So you might want to look into buying a new one if nothing else is working, imo.

I know it's not the battery, as the replacement came in today. Tried taking it out and making sure it was in properly, and it is.

See if someone has a different charging cable you can try.

I doubt that this is the issue but have you tried updating the drivers for the battery?

Think I figured out why it wasn't working. It's because I derped. The replacement battery I ordered wasn't for the right model # as my laptop. That'll do it, right?

It might be that, if it's not a battery that fits many models, many do. It could also be that your "new" battery is not at all new. Sometimes things can lay on shelfs for quite some time.
