I don't know if it right subforum for this so please move it to appropriate if it's not

Is Ren'Py engine somewhat good for designing VN's? (It seems to be user friendly but I don't know if later I will be having issues with implementing effects and such) Also how do I make auto rescaling, I tried imagemapping but it throws errors like "expected comma or end of the line".

AFAIC, this is the right place to talk about creation and/or development of VNs so you're in the clear.

As for your question, yes. Ren'py can do whatever you want provided you have the programming knowledge.

It might seem daunting at first but once you get the hang of it, the rest becomes quite easy.
