OriginalRen Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 This shit is real: http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/04/30/spiritual-successor-to-banjo-kazooie-reveals-its-lead-characters The veterans from Rare and the original character designer of Banjo-Kazooie?! Holy hell. Yes please. Take all of my money. I just came. 3 times. LinovaA 1 Quote
Abyssal Monkey Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Obligatory wet blanket. Its not entirely new news. However, I guess we can be hopeful. I'm jaded enough to be on the fence for this one. Old developers coming back and making a spiritual sequel hasn't always worked out for the best. I'm obligated to point to Peter Molyneux and Godus. About the game itself, assuming it will be in the same genre as Banjo-Kazooie as it is named Yooka-Leylie (Ukelele), and seeing how I enjoyed Croc when I was younger, and later Mario 64 DS, I'm at least in on the genre. The Major Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Remember Nuts & Bolts? Not everything Rare touched was gold. I think a lot changed after Rare was bought by Microsoft. Maybe it didn't. I don't know the whole story. It just makes me feel better if I can blame it on Microsoft. Quote
OriginalRen Posted May 1, 2015 Author Posted May 1, 2015 This is a KickStarter project, not backed by Microsoft and it's shitty shit. It's a new project by combining the veterans at Rare without the association with the company. In other words, retired guys who used to work on good Rare games back in the day, including the original character designer of Banjo and Kazooie. Creator of Banjo and Kazooie + Killer Instinct announcer + Rare veterans who worked on very successful titles such as Donkey Kong Country (it being the best fucking video game of all time) and the original Banjo-Kazooie? Please people. Quote
Nosebleed Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Kickstarter goes up, already destroyed two stretch goals Teeku https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/playtonic/yooka-laylee-a-3d-platformer-rare-vival Quote
The Major Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 They've passed all of their initial stretch goals and are now adding new ones. This Hype Train doesn't have brakes, boys. Quote
