  5. Since most people have never heard of Muv-Luv Substance, it is a trilogy of doujin games released in 2005 and 2006. https://vndb.org/v32467 They can still be downloaded for free from the official website. https://tnonizyou.ojaru.jp/game/maburabu-gamehontaipage.html I've had this in the back of my mind as something to rebuild from the ground up as a learning experience for a little while. 4K-ize the CG with Gigapixel-chan, present all 3 as a singular unified title, translate as I build it so it supports English and Japanese, stuff like that. Make it the best it can be. Maybe T no Nijou-senpai will even be amused that someone on the other side of the world cares about his silly little doujin games 20 years later. The problem is that the games were built in ADVRUN. For some reason it was popular with Japanese doujin developers for a couple years before promptly disappearing forever. If I'm going to be nice about it...ADVRUN pukes buffalo shizz up my fucking asshole. I have had no luck whatsoever making heads or tails on extracting the script/images/music from the archive format this engine uses. I've been through documentation in the SDK and it didn't really help. I'd like to think doing something this simple is in the documentation somewhere and I just missed it. It's free and the last version of the engine is still online. https://buin2gou.com/advrun/ I've asked in a couple places and the responses I got boil down to "those games suck lol don't bother lmao" so I'm hoping for something a little more productive. Anything that gets me moving in the right direction is appreciated.
  6. Welcome to this week VNTS Review. For the title, because we have Nekonyan released Koichoco, I decided to make the parody of its English title (Love, Election, and Chocolate) by changing 'Election' into 'Invasion' from Rance 03 event (Helman invasion to Leazas) and 'Chocolate' into 'Marshmallow' with it being Mashiro's (Tayutama main heroine) favorite food, so we have 'Love, Invasion, and Marshmallow' as the title. For this week, the three releases alone (Koichoco, Rance 03, and Tayutama) make it being an active one, and of course we also have some other updates with the most notable one is Mahou Shoujo release. Overall, this week is quite an interesting one, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. Nekonyan did release Koichoco as planned, and honestly speaking to me it's redundant release seeing we have nine years old translation patch which was released in November 2015. That said, it still has nice production value, and Nekonyan version is much easier to install compared to the old version so at least you didn't need to go through the hassle to play the new version of Koichoco. For the premise, it's the same no matter which version, with the MC Yuki need to join a very dramatic student council election as the candidate in order to save his unproductive club which about to face financial reform. Forgot to mention the new version also remove the necessity to play Chisato's route first, although I don't know if that feature will be able to improve her not quite good reputation among the one who play Koichoco in 2016. Go get Koichoco from Steam if you want to play the VN with the new translation or maybe did decide to wait for Nekonyan version, and have fun. Speaking of 2016, I do remember there's a project to translate Mahou Shoujo back then, although that project was going nowhere. Nevertheless, a new translator worked on it, and now we have the game available in English (The post in regard of the release). For the premise, it's about the normal high school girl Chiyoko who thrown into the battle against the monster after approached by a strange talking cat, and then she gather more allies in order to increase the manpower. While this seems like the usual premise of magical girl work, the outfit is more like the bodysuit instead of usual magical girl uniform with the aesthetic is leaned toward sci-fi, and the tone is quite heavy. It has SRPG gameplay and some people who played it praise the game, so you can try the game if you're curious about it. Mangagamer released Rance 03, and it has the most distinctive feature with it the only Rance game that have voices with Alicesoft decided to omit that feature in X because X has many characters which would be very costly to dub all of the characters. Back to 03, in there we have Helman army led by the prince Patton invade Leazas. Seeing no choice, the rules of Leazas, Princess Lia, ask help from a certain adventurer that she knew, Rance. Of course, Rance asked for his reward immediately, which should be obvious revolving of having sex with the beautiful women. Rance 3 is the game where Alicesoft start to write the story in the bigger scale compared to the previous games that have smaller scale, and the remake is no different with Alicesoft going all out to polish the remake as much as possible with they also overhaul the gameplay. Go get 03 if you want to play Rance 3 in better graphic or maybe want to play another Rance game, and have fun. We have Cherry Kiss announced yet another nukige (Swipe Right for Sugar Mama Sensei), and they'll release it on April 4th later. For fan translation updates, we have Shizuku is now fully translated, the original Tsui no Sora was past three quarter (76%) edited, and QC work for Ushieta is 73.8% done. We also have Cartagra Remake Switch version announced with it will have English language support, although the one who will release it is Visual Arts instead of Shiravune and obviously won't have sex scenes. For now, I can only wonder if Shiravune will also localized the PC version later. Lastly, we have Tayutama released with it didn't have the sex scenes. However, someone (Who may or may not be the translation staff) make the 18+ patch for Tayutama and released it just today (Four days after the full game release), with it remind me of Baldr Sky 18+ patch release. For the story, it's about Yuuri who is a son of a priest about to perform a ritual in an ancient monument before it accidentally destroyed by his friend. Turned out the monument is the seal containing the spiritual creatures, Tayutai, thus the monument's destruction causing Tayutai to roam in the human world. Then, Yuuri saw a girl with her turned out to be a deity who manage Tayutai. Following that, Yuuri give the name to the new girl as Mashiro, and afterward Yuuri's life start to be more lively with Mashiro. While it's good now we have the 18+ patch, some may prefer to play Tayutama without the sex scenes, so feel free to get the VN if you interested (Whether with 18+ patch or not) and have fun. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week.
  7. Hello, sorry, I had no idea You have posted! If You want to help in testing, please, if You see something which looks like a bug, send a printscreen - including stats visible, it helps finf cause of the bug. If You'g have an empty screen, please write was the scene directly before it. Of course, if You have any other suggestion, please, share them. In the meantime, I am still improving the game. Some of the things I added recently: – extended endgame, especially for the Influence based characters – you conquered all kingdoms? Now secure your eternal rule by proving your divinity. Or, if you play as Destroyer of Live, carry out a world-scale euthanasia plan, – new subplot – Rise of the Witchlands. Remember that fallen ancient civilization which ruins You could pillage? That is not dead which can eternal lie, - extended economy - now You can destroy/help economy of the Free People in new and more meaningfull ways, - extended Chosen One plot - now sometimes You can corrupt him. Also - there is new review, in Choice Beat zine. You can read it below, or in the zine (page 30): https://www.flipsnack.com/choicebeat/choicebeat-issue-13/full-view.html
  8. tldr;; I'd recommend this to most visual novel readers looking for a bit of a different take on the moege format, with more comedy and very light to no drama upfront slowly transitioning into more drama and very little to no comedy at the end. Overall it's a very good but flawed read that may not be for everyone. Read on for details. Love, Elections, & Chocolate (Koichoco) does a lot right, but it also does some things wrong. It has some likeable characters, good music, nice production values, and a well done localization that reads well to an English native. It's also a bit of a messy visual novel, which not everyone will like. Koichoco has, for better or worse, a central heroine - Chisato. Chisato is a classic tsundere whose tsun rating is pretty darn high, and she is extra jealous. This bleeds into routes that aren't her own, so you can count on her making her presence known in other heroine's routes to a decent amount. I personally didn't find this to be too bad, but I could see it upsetting some readers who are more used to the other heroines "backing off" after you get on someone's route. Past her you have some straightforward characters, the onee-san, the teasing girl, the mysterious silent one, and the overly nice hardworking type. None of them are too unexpected and they each have their positives and negatives, but I don't really consider any of them standouts in any sense. The story is where this visual novel both excels and is a bit disappointing. First, it excels because it's willing to tackle some issues not discussed often in moege - At the same point the stories end quickly enough that it can feel like they are not adequately explored, or truly answered at all. I both liked and hated that decision, as it shows how messy real life is that we don't always get clear cut answers, and not everything is wrapped up cleanly. However, this is a story for enjoyment, and many readers - myself included - appreciate some definitive endings. This is the largest reason why I'm a bit torn on Koichoco. What is there is very good, but I can't help but wish for what was clearly thought about but isn't there. Last few things: it's been ported to Unity using the same UI as Aokana, which has caused some changes but I think it is a net positive, especially given the skip function is now extremely quick. It has a good number of CGs, sprite variations, and an internal upscaler to 4k - although assets are 1080p I believe. Music is good, and there are 6 ending songs, the 5 heroine's voice actors all sing their own which I always appreciate being done by sprite. There's a total of 15 H-scenes present and in my opinion they are average for the genre, but maybe a bit better than Aokana's. If you're here solely for the "plot" then there's probably better options out there. Koichoco ultimately ends up as a good read to me, but one that could have been much more with either a bit of extra expanding on some of these story bits.
  9. Just notice that I didn't say my congratulatory message on the release three years ago, so here's my belated congratulation on Snow and thanks for the hard work of translating it.
  10. This is a condensed version of the full article which can be found on my Main Blog Here. Pixel Hunting Creating a sense of immersion within a fictional world has always been one of the greatest strengths of visual novels so it is only natural they would end up paired with a style of gameplay about interacting with the details of that world in the form of Adventure Games. These are titles which involve clicking on elements of the environment in order to solve puzzles or meet certain objectives and they use this space to fill in the details of people’s lives to contrast with whatever threat hangs over them. As such Adventure Games can make use of the character centric nature of visual novels to help sell the connection between the characters and the world they inhabit. It can leverage this to create mysteries and puzzles which span both halves to improve their connection to each other. There is also an aspect of role-play found in this hybrid whereby the player gets to act out the actions of the protagonist and fully put themselves in the character’s position. Let’s repeatedly click on an object and find out exactly how such a harmonious merger of gameplay elements can work so well together. Environmental Interaction In its focus on the world around the player, Adventure Games present it as tactile place filled with the objects of function and mundanity that define our lives. The way every detail of these items is presented and their role in progression helps them take on an intimacy by being a physical window into this familiar yet alien place. This is in many ways a prefect partner for visual novels due to the way they concentrate on different aspects of intimacy so, while the Adventure Game half can handle the world, the visual novel half can deal with the characters. Through this combination a player can be brought into the experience and provided reasons to emotionally invest themselves in the outcome of the journey they are being guided down. They are shown a constant stream of empathetic ideas and people from each half of the game which offers a variety of perspectives on their lives so the player is on the edge of their seats waiting to see what happens to them next. What prevents this barrage of elements from becoming emotionally draining is the constant forward momentum provided by new areas to explore and new drama to witness that keeps the player on a ride of fresh experiences so they invest just enough for the desired effect without wearing themselves out. The backbone of this harmony is the way a visual novel element can easily and quickly be overlaid on top of Adventure Game sections in order to smoothly link the narrative to the items being examined which reinforces the connection between the two. Last Window: The Secret of Cape Wast demonstrates how this harmony of intimacy can be used to sell a location as lived in with history etched into every wall. The entire game takes place in the titular Cape West, a set of apartments containing various tenants including our protagonist. As such the player will naturally become familiar with the spaces within the apartments and the game uses its Adventure Game half to have the player interact with everyday objects in order to solve puzzles. This draws parallels between the location and the player's own life making it easy to come to understand it as somewhere inhabited by grounded people. The visual novel half of Last Window furthers this link through humanising the people who live within the world built by the Adventure Game sections. Over the course of the investigation the player will interact with the residents and come to know this snapshot of their lives while also getting a sense of how they relate to the protagonist who many have as their neighbour. The closeness afforded by the way the visual novel sections frames the character interactions is immensely personal and supported this sense of Cape West as a living place where people the player knows spend their time. Narrative As Role-play Perhaps the most interesting interaction present in this type of hybrid is the way the narrative and the mechanics frame each other. Due to how Adventure Games promote extensive examination of the environment, it can create a sense of role-playing as the protagonist given that these interactions are often a direct reflection of the character's actions within the story. This is a favoured element of visual novel integration for mystery or detective titles where engaging with clues and crime scenes can be made a key part of both styles of play. Leaning into this role-play provides a cohesion to the experience such as with Danganronpa and its investigation sections. These aspects ask the player to engage with the Adventure Game mechanics through a narrative context which focuses their mind into the same space as the protagonist. The act of picking through the crime scene and interviewing suspects takes on a new emotional resonance and draws the player into the experience through blurring the line between the game and reality with role-play. Without the visual novels to give a personal connection to the events surrounding the mechanics, this role-play would be a cold affair where the player would not be invested in the stakes of investigation and instead merely see it as a simple puzzle to be solved. Puzzles On Two Levels Presenting the game on two levels offers an opportunity to engage the player’s mind from different angles and help maintain interest in the long term. To achieve this effect the two halves of the title lean into a puzzle style element to give the player something to chew on. The visual novel and Adventure Game aspects do this through the differing time-frames they operate under in order to direct the overall experience. Given the narrative centric nature of the visual novel, the puzzle tends to take the form of a greater structural reveal or long term mystery as with titles like YU-NO. Here the game presents a mystery and then feeds the player a steady stream of clues hidden within the story to help them construct theories on the truth. This means they are constantly reevaluating what they thought they knew so there is always excitement when a new fact is shown to them. YU-NO utilises this method by encouraging an exploration of its wide narrative structure, time travel ideas and the way each of the routes drops new hints as to what is going on overall and in previous and future routes. This lends it a feeling of interconnectedness which its Adventure Game elements can rely on to form the backbone of the long term engagement. The area a visual novel aspect can fall short is in the moment to moment sense of forward momentum and it is here the Adventure Game half can flex its muscles. If there is one thing that Adventure Games are good at it is offering lots of small victories as the player finds the right item or place to interact with in order to progress. This simple loop provides just enough motivation to continue to the next small dose of progression that it can work to keep people moving forward. Take the Somnium sections in AI: The Somnium Files, these are a constant parade of small rewards where even the wrong choice for an item or place still gives some amusement for the player such as in the form a joke. This helps alleviate the feeling of tension provided by the time limit and support the long term mysteries of the visual novel half of the game. Conclusion In many ways the Adventure Game and the visual novel come from the same end of the video game spectrum with a focus on a similar mechanical tone through differing angles. They have complimentary elements of intimacy which they hold as important to their presentation, environmental and characters, which work well together to sell a sense of place and this world as something close to the player’s own experiences. Puzzles also play a large role in keeping people invested with the two halves offering complimentary short and long term mysteries and engagement to keep a sense of forward mementum. Alongside all these elements there is a strong undertone of role-play in the way the player can act out the actions of the characters both through actions as well as the narrative which surrounds them. Adventure Games are worth considering if you are making a visual novel, or vice versa, due to this exceptional compatibility and the potential it holds for interesting and moving titles to be made.

  15. I rate both Kono yo no Hate (1994) and Kimi to Ita Natsu (1994) as small masterpieces, but the former definitely has more impact and plot development. 1. Han Myung Hoe (1994) [한명회] (Finished 1/105) Tags: Historical This biographical drama deals with the palace politics in the time of Han Myung Hoe, a tactician who was instrumental in Sejo's usurpation of young King Danjong's throne. The events detailed here are similar to those already presented in The Ume Tree in the Midst of the Snow, written by the same writer a decade earlier. Not translated. Overall Rating: 6/10 2. Moshimo Negai ga Kanau Nara (1994) [もしも願いが叶うなら] (Finished 1/12) Tags: Comedy, Romance, Crime, Drama FL got to orphanage after her mother died. Just when she was going to marry heir to a major trading company, her older brothers showed up to stay with her. Not translated. Overall Rating: 6/10 3. Sweet Home (1994) [スウィート・ホーム] (Finished 1/12) Tags: Drama, Family When the Inoue family just moves into their new residence, they are shocked to see everyone there so anxious about getting their children into good schools. In order not to be the one left out, they also join in the crowd and train their child hard to score well in the primary school entrance exam. Interestingly, their next door neighbor has a kid same age as theirs and always likes to compete with them. This makes the whole exam process more exciting and stressful, of course. Wow, no plot at all... just some family affairs in exaggerated manner. No good characters spotted, too. Overall Rating: 5/10 4. Kono yo no Hate (1994) [この世の果て] (Finished 12/12) Tags: Romance, Drama, Melodrama Maria, struggling financially, juggles a low-paying day job with nighttime shifts at a cabaret to fund her sister Nana's eye operation. Tragedy struck their family when a young Maria accidentally caused a fire, resulting in Nana's blindness and their father's death. Shiro, a discontented concert pianist, crosses paths with Maria in a traffic accident, leading to his hospitalization. Adopting a false identity and amnesia, Shiro seeks refuge at Maria's home, eventually becoming a cabaret pianist. Unbeknownst to them, fate weaves a complex web, revealing that their lives were never meant to intersect. I would not want to promote destructive behavior, but this piece is full of genuine sincere misery and - again - classic literature vibes, plus appearance of Sakurai Sachiko makes everything better. There are a lot of silly non-reasonable moves, so it's far from perfect or even great and thus does not deserve a higher score, especially with this much pain by the end. Overall Rating: 7/10 5. Hito no Fukou wa Mitsu no Aji (1994) [ひとの不幸は蜜の味] (Finished 3/11) Tags: Romance Satoko is an ordinary bank teller with aspirations to someday become a manga-ka, or graphic novel artist. In her spare time, she draws and inks her own stories and submits them to publishers, who one after another reject her work because it's... missing something. (It's implied that she lacks credentials as an apprentice to an established manga-ka to pay her dues.) But quite by chance, Satoko stumbles onto a sudden vacancy to apprentice for her idol, Kurebayashi Mayuko. What is her idol-like? Satoko imagines her new boss must be like one of the angelic heroines in her own comics, but the reality is something different. Light comedy around extravagant mangaka. Sadly, rather foolish and aimless. Overall Rating: 6/10 6. Natsuko no Sake (1994) [夏子の酒] (Finished 3/11) Tags: Food, Life, Drama Natsuko lives her dream as a copy writer for an advertising company in Tokyo. But when she hits a slump in her career, she returns to her family's sake brewery in the countryside. There she discovers her older brother has been hunting down a phantom rice called tatsunishiki, believing it to be ideal for creating a new sake. He finds the rice seeds he needs to begin his new sake, but right after Natsuko returns to Tokyo with her spirits renewed, he passes away suddenly. Despite new success at her job, she decides to quit and return home to continue her brother's dream. What begins is a several years long journey, first to cultivate the notoriously difficult to grow tatsunishiki, and then to perfect the brewing process of her new sake. Rural farming for brewery is super boring for me, and nothing here strikes anything outside of banal. Overall Rating: 5/10 7. Romance of the Three Kingdoms (1994) [三国演义] (Finished 3/84) Tags: Historical, Drama In an age of turmoil, heroes will rise... It is the end of the 2nd Century, and China is in a state of turmoil. The land is divided by warlords, and the country is facing famine, droughts, and invasion from bordering tribes. On top of the problems the country is facing, Zhang Jiao and his brothers begin to rebel against the Han while advocating the arrival of a new era, the era of the "Yellow Dragon," implying that if people followed him, they would lead prosperous lives. Thousands of desperate villagers flocked to follow Zhang Jiao as they raided government offices and plundered towns and villages alike in protest of heavy taxation, wearing only a "yellow turban" on their heads. As their strengths and numbers grew, the "Yellow Turbans" overthrew some of the Imperial Court's best generals and strongest forces. Concerned for their capital in Luo Yang and for the Han empire, the Imperial Court immediately constructed an "alliance" by requesting volunteers across the country to settle the rebellion. Three distinct generals were recruited - Liu Bei, Cao Cao, and Sun Jian. Together with their own officers, the Yellow Turban rebellion was quickly laid to rest, and each of the men involved immediately gained popularity and power with the people. As their powers grew, however, each continued to seek more control of their territories and unite all of China under one rule. One fought for hegemony. One fought for ambition. One fought for righteousness. Veteran officers and generals who shared the same visions swarmed under each leader. These stalwart souls waged war across the vast expanse of the land and, like bloodthirsty demons, cut down any and all that stood in their way. Thus, the romance of the Three Kingdoms begins. I'm rather disappointed as it looses in everything compared to anime - actors choice, tempo, action scenes. There are also some silly antics and many events and talks with little meaning. Overall Rating: 6/10 8. Hana no Ran (1994) [花の乱] (Finished 1/37) Tags: Historical, Drama, War The story takes place during the Muromachi period of Ancient Japan, in the midst of the Onin War. The main character in the series is Tomiko Hino, a historical figure with a bad reputation because of her actions to rebuild Kyoto after the Onin War. Not translated. Overall Rating: 6/10 9. Scent of Love (1994) [사랑의 향기] (Finished 1/52) Tags: Drama Aromatic love that overcomes the hardships of youth. True love is learned through each couple of three generations and the love of a family that has lost the father in a car accident. Yong Jin works at an animation production company and Jae Jin is a university student. The two sisters are bright and cheerful despite not having a father. Yong Jin meets a guy and regardless of her mom's disapproval, continue with her love for him. Not only love but the waiting, hatred, and disappointments are well projected. Not translated. Akemi becomes pregnant, Seiichi eventually divorces his wife and marries her. Despite their passionate romance before marriage, now Seiichi does not look at or think of Akemi as "a woman". When Akemi notices what Seiichi is thinking, she meets Yusaku Shirube, a police detective. Akemi and Yusaku eventually have a love affair that night, comforting their wounded hearts. This one-night love affair is to be a start for perfect love. Not translated. Overall Rating: 6/10 12. Ie Naki Ko (1994) [家なき子] (Finished 1/12) Tags: Life, Drama "Don't pity me, just give me money." Not translated. Overall Rating: 6/10 15. Kimi to Ita Natsu (1994) [君といた夏] (Finished 12/12) Tags: Romance, Drama Three young people, Irie, Sugiya and Asami, decide to share a room together one summer. All three of them experience sadness, love and friendship as they fall in and out of love. They all become a vital part of each other's life, but at the end of summer vacation, they go their separate ways. Sugiya returns home, Asami leaves Tokyo and returns to the country, and Irie remains in the room they had shared as if nothing had happened over the last 40 days of summer. Story is simple and kinda of melodramatic, but actors are great as well as non-repulsive. Plus, ending is surprising, so it's well worth a masterpice status even though after first several episodes it was kind of empty till the very end. Overall Rating: 7/10 16. Okane ga nai! (1994) [お金がない!] (Finished 12/12) Tags: Business, Comedy, Drama Kentaro lives in the suburbs with his two little brothers. They are poor, but they are happy. The factory Kentaro works for, though, goes bankrupt on pay day and Kentaro finds himself out of a job and with even less money. The brothers are thrown out of their apartment and Kentaro, a born optimistic until then, decides that he must aggressively pursue "money". This drama depicts the success story of Kentaro in his search for money and a better life. Managed to finish it even though I feel uneasy with money and luck/unluck focus. MC role is basically antics. What saves the day a bit is some side characters, some unexpected situations solutions, some comedy... and that's probably it. There's nothing to recommend it for, especially because it's mostly just a streak of lucky turns of events. Overall Rating: 6/10 17. 16. أحيي اقتراحك عملا يعد من الأعمال المغمورة، سأقرأه لاحقا. شكرا لك.
  17. Fata Morgana is my favorite VN :3 Tsui No Sora is brilliant, daddy sca-ji never disappoints. As for gore screaming show, it was very disappointing. Now Dead End Aegis has been on my mind, I will read it soon. Sorry for the late reply.
  18. Setoguchi Renya style of writing consists of leaving deep impactful messages on the mind of the reader, through shocking events and brilliant prose. I think this was most prominent in Swan Song and HiraHira Hihiru, since reading these two novels I've been longing for any novel that is strongly meaningful and leaves a significant message on me as a reader. I want every recommendation you could think of, as long as it fits the same category as these two novels or the same niche this writer fulfills.
  19. Since this post, I have finished my reread of Adventure of a Lifetime. As for Livestream 2, I am slowly making progress through it. My college classes keep making me busy with assignments. Fortunately, I did start another VN titled Sakura: The Jirai-kei Magical Girl. So far, it is decent. My biggest problem with it is that I only like 1 of the 3 main characters. The protagonist is fine as he will probably end up being another blank slate male protagonist. As for Sakura, she might have a good design, but I do not like her personality. She is a lazy shut-in who eats a lot and does not know what showers are. Did the writers think that the reader would be fine with a character like this because it is a girl with a nice design? I'll post a review of Adventure of a Lifetime here in the future. For now, I will say that it is just as good as I remembered it. Even though many of my thoughts on this VN did not change, I still enjoyed going through it again.
  20. what visual novels do you like?
  21. Please take no offense but I can't help but smile at the idea of someone wanting to read a NTR nukige (I mean, the title gives it all even without further information) while avoiding NTR ^^. Hope you'll be able to get what you want nevertheless.
  22. Ubel Blatt- This series leaves me with a lot of mixed emotions. On the one hand, this series is an excellent revenge story with a deep setting and characters... on the other hand, the presentation of the first four or five episodes is pretty shoddy. I don't say this to be mean but rather to tell yall why I both love and feel ambivalent about the series as a whole. There are some really good action scenes and tons of blood in this series, but fight choreography frequently stutters and the chain of events is not always properly pursued. It is particularly bad when moving between arcs, where the beginning of the arc is just glazed over in a blasé fashion in most cases. This is particularly marked in the first arc, where I frequently winced at the choices of the animators, even as certain scenes stood out on their own as pure gold. The protagonist's deep and complex emotions make for great sob scenes at certain key points, especially where he confronts the Heroes, and I find myself remembering those moments more than the fights, despite this being a violence/blood focused series. Sakamoto Days- Comedy series about a former assassin having to deal with his former co-workers trying to kill him while he runs a convenience store to support his family. There are some tributes to Gintama in the story, but for the most part it is just an ongoing zany series of events where Sakamoto and friends try to avoid killing while driving off assassins so Sakamoto won't get in trouble with his wife. Solo Leveling s2- I only put this down because Kvan went out of his way to diss the series... seriously. This basically takes what made the first season great, then amps it up by several levels. The real attraction of the series is the fight choreography, the music, the flashy action and the occasional moments of vulnerability and growth on the part of the protagonist. I wouldn't call this shounen, but rather a 'seinen' story, as the protagonist's motivations are more down to earth and less aspirational than in a shounen. In addition, there is no comradery or group antics along the way, as evidenced by the name of the series. There are several extremely emotional moments, both positive and negative, during the course of the story that left a big impact, at least for me. Salaryman- A despairing salaryman gets summoned by a maou as one of the Four Heavenly Kings, where he ends up working as a negotiator, bringing together the maou's army and fixing its problems along the way. It is also about his personal journey from a burnt-out, broken man to a more healthy-minded and vigorous individual working for the sake of those around him. Botsuraku Kizoku- Fantasy anime where a magic-obsessed man gets reincarnated in the body of a talented noble child in a family that is about to lose its title. He pursues magic obsessively and rapidly rises, earning a massive following (and an adorable harem on the side). It is mostly him innocently pursuing magic and raising up those around him in a partly incidental manner. Edit: Kvan calls it banal, and he isn't wrong. It is fairly trite as fantasy go, which was why I stopped reading the LN about the point where the anime ends. However, the anime presents it in a way that is reasonably enjoyable, so even if it is banal, it isn't as awful as he tries to portray it. Saikyou Alchemist- Surprise hit, at least for me. While it is definitely a trope isekai where the protagonist gets summoned to another world and granted power by a goddess, its well-presented and well-written, with a solid cast of characters and a setting that is just detailed enough to keep a watcher's interest. An example of an anime using the tropes rather than being used by them, at least in my opinion. Tensei Ojisan- Comedy anime where an old guy in a coma gets his consciousness transported into the body of a villainess in an otomege and sets out to save her while helping the protagonist progress her romances (while failing and only earning yuri points and love points from the heroes without realizing it). Edit: Kvan focused on it being a 'villainess' anime, which actually isn't the point of the thing at all (meaning he probably didn't even watch the first episode or even read the animelist summary). Fugukan- The concept is the recent (in the last four years or so) standard where the protagonist starts out with a crap skill/job/class that gets him treated like crap and betrayed by his friends, only to become immensely powerful as a result of that betrayal. Ein is a pretty solid protagonist, and the heroines are adorable for the most part. The story is solid as well, if a bit tropey. Isekai Tsuuhan- Basically yet another old guy with a skill that lets him order stuff from earth while in another world. Tbh, this sub-genre is one of those that is either funny and fun or absolutely awful and boring. This one manages to lean more toward the former, fortunately. NEET Kunoichi- Mostly a romance between a NEET ninja girl and a salaryman who is targeted by youma. Romance is slow to develop for obvious in-story reasons, but it is definitely present. Comedy is mild, action is surprisingly bloody but not really that great compared to more focused anime. Beheneko- Ecchi fantasy following a guy reincarnated as a baby behemoth who ends up as a pet for an erofu (ecchi elf girl). For someone who wants something that is mostly silly, tropey, and ecchi, it is great. Edit: Kvan once again missed the point. There is no 'cheat skill' in this one. It is mostly about the elf heroine's growth and him watching over her in the main story (though it can be argued the ecchi atmosphere and h-references are the point of the series). I'm not saying the series is awesome, I'm saying that you should take Kvan's statements with a massive grain of salt, given that he obviously didn't watch most of the series on his list or even pay attention to the scenario summaries. Elf-san- Very cute romance between a sleepy-eyed guy with an easygoing personality and an elf he befriends while going between worlds in his sleep. There is some action, but it is mostly flavor for the rom-com. Edit: Having finished the series today, I can say it is a surprise gem. I honestly was expecting to drop this one when I first started the series, but it turned out to be a wonderfully adorable romance with some really heart-touching moments. Girumasu- Mostly a comedy about an Adventurers Guild receptionist who goes out and finishes dungeon bosses to end her overtime. There is some serious stuff, but it is mostly the protagonist wailing or getting pissed off about being forced to work late at night or on holidays then going berserk and ending all the quests so she can get off early. Edit: Finished it today, have to say that I find it somewhat amusing that the protagonist's combat style is complete muscle-head, while the hero is the clever hard-worker who just barely gets by. Aparida- Harem fantasy following a red mage who gets exiled from a high-ranking party. Pretty standard fantasy LN scenario these days (not my favorite, really), where the protagonist gets back at those who put him down without really trying.
  23. I'm just interpreting the ending names, but it looks like the first two heroines are nonstop NTR routes with no non-NTR endings. The other routes seem to have one ending each that is a happy ending, but I can't tell whether there is NTR just looking at that. The 'happy endings' (based on the ending names) are: 愛の入院生活 それでも愛してる 俺が見舞いに走る理由
  24. Revived the thread a bit again because we have two Alicesoft games released in 2025, with Ixseal was released a month ago and currently Rance 03 is now available in English (Both are obviously released by Mangagamer). Oh yes, a fan released Galzoo Island patch last year, so you can now play the game that Aroduc dropped in English. We also have both Daiakuji fan translation project and Yoru ga Kuru Remake announcement, although there's no release date for both with only the latter has the estimation release in this year.

  27. Yes, just move the patched scenario archives out of the game folder, and reinsert the original archives. Then just load whatever save you have. The scenario archives are the 12 files from data01000.arc to data01011.arc.
