Otome ga Tsumugu Koi no Canvas. Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteiru are the only ones i know of. I'd also like to know more, especially if they're translated. I also find gender bender quite interesting, mostly guy into girl not the opposite. Sad this involves rape.. i don't know what's with the overuse of rape seriously.2 points

Playing "My Computer is Broken and I am Trying to Fix it." One of the best VNs ever. I laugh, I cry, and I want to shoot the protagonist, Mr. Windows many times over. Great game.2 points -
Bit of a strange one here, but the 'which dere are you thread' got me thinking. Which kind of dere would you like to be in a relationship with? Personally, yandere, simply because I love Gasai yuno from Mirai Nikki. http://deluscar.wordpress.com/2012/01/02/a-guide-to-the-deres/1 point

blame the writer if it becomes annoying. Though sometimes, it can be the voice acting *coughErogecough* Why not spice things up a bit in an h-scene and use inner monologues for both parties? Switch PoVs with the protagonist and enter the thoughts of the heroine. You can still utilize the same style to describe the scene, but I will feel it would be more realistic considering I am reading the thoughts of both parties. It's interesting because you can relate to both sides. Just a thought.1 point -

Thanks, I will definitely check these out. About the rape, it's sad that when you want to find one of the more specific things (fetishes in this case, I guess?), especially if it's something crossing into the weird territory, it almost always gets paired with the equally weird or ever worse things that you find rather disturbing on the other hand. This is a perfect example of that. Haha, it's probably strange, but I actually enjoy well written bad ends. I mean the ones involving death and the like - haven't encountered any of the sexual oriented ones, and I'd like to keep it that way. To give an example, I really liked the bad ends in Kara no Shoujo (man that VN was hell without a walkhrough, I think I accidentally got every single bad end possible o.O), or Grisaia had some really nice ones, especially Amane's. And well, Corpse Party is one big compilation of bad ends, some of which are kind of lame, but some are oh so amazing. EDIT: Haha, I've looked up the VNs and just realised that I've actually seen the anime adaptation of Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteiru.1 point -

I know some people like rape and stuff, but I can't bring myself to like it, and the same goes with NTR or ganbang (even if the girls are ok with it). People have told me to not take it seriously because it's just fiction, but meh, I can't stand it anyway xD *Pretty vanilla*1 point -
Moooooore answers~ I live in central Tokyo and unfortunately don't have any experience of country life. I have visited some places in the countryside though and had great experiences. I remember I went with a friend to Toyama and we were staying in a family-run Japanese ryokan (hostel/inn type place). However, we got COMPLETELY LOST on the way there due to wrong GPS coordinates, and were eventually saved by a super nice old guy who phoned the place for us which turned out to be quite far away. He then drove us (two complete strangers, and foreigners to boot!) somewhere to meet the people from the ryokan, and they then drove us the rest of the way. Seriously, I can't imagine anyone doing that in the UK! I also had an amazing time on Yakushima, an island off Kyuushu. My boyfriend and I were looking for somewhere to eat but everywhere was closed, until we came upon a tiny little local drinking place. We were kind of wary of going in as some of these small places aren't too welcoming of foreigners, but everyone was lovely to us! So basically my travelling experiences (which include Hakkone, Nikko, Fukuoka, Osaka, Nagano, Yufuin, Kagoshima, Tanegashima, Yakushima) have all been great, but I don't know what it would be like to live there. Hopefully one day I will find out though! Ah I remember the NOVA thing, sorry you were caught up in it Do you think you'll come back to work in Japan again? Yes, it's definitely possible to come over to work as a teacher and then move onto something else. I know a lot of people who started out that way Hehe, to be honest I don't think Japanese people are more intrinsically polite than anyone else, they just have certain manners and ways of acting that seem very polite on the surface. You might like some of these customs, but there might be some that rub you the wrong way. Personally, I operate well within Japanese culture, although there are sometimes cultural differences that sometimes frustrate me such as people not speaking up for themselves in the workplace. Believe it or not there are many people who live here but are very bitter about Japanese people and culture - if you look at the Gaijinpot forums there's a lot of hate - but I just don't understand why they stay here if they hate it so much :/ Mostly no. If you're a foreigner then you might get people approaching you to chat which can be nice, but can also be annoying. As a white female I get men approaching me quite often, under the guise of 'wanting to learn English' haha. I would never ever strike up a conversation with someone on the street except maybe in the nightlife areas like Roppongi, both because that's not in my nature anyway, and I don't think most Japanese people would react well to it. That being said, if you're in a drinking place like an izakaya or a bar then you definitely can! I've had random people (usually middle aged guys with their wives XD) buy me food and drinks and stuff~ Oh also, being female helps :/ There's no limit that I know of (of course aside from your airline's standard luggage limit)! I've brought tons of stuff back in my suitcase, and shipped things back too. The only problem might be with 18+ rated material, but I've also carried that kind of thing out of the country with no problem Yeah, Akiba is pretty awesome!! Lots of huge anime adverts everywhere, anime songs blaring out of the shops, girls in maid costumes trying to get you to come to their cafes.. I'll take some pics next time I'm there~1 point

Welp, I guess I'll be skipping these as well. Are there any better gender-bender focused VNs? I find the topic quite interesting, but forced rape and such definitely isn't what I want to see from it.1 point

A agree yanderes make great girlfriends as long as you're not a douche, The sole reason i don't want a loli as a girlfriend is because i see lolis as adorable creatures i want to protect not have a relationship with. Imoutos have always been my favorite personality wise so yes imoutos are the best. Also saying i want a loli imouto conflicts with my real 3D one which just feels weird. Now i will say if i'd go on with physical appearance i do want a loli like body structure, no doubt about it, just not a loli in itself.1 point

Let the imagination run wild. I think that an Visual Novel adapted from an anime gives one the thoughts of "how this should have ended" or "how this could have happened". The adaption would either let peoples dreams come true, or completely crush them as that person isn't a choice. I assume that most people would dislike having their favourite heroine not be chosen, but to hate an entire Visual Novel over it would be barbaric (unless there was some SERIOUS flaws with the novel). All to their own, I just like having the option of choosing the girl I fell for in the anime rather then letting a writer or producer choose it for me.1 point

Anime adapted from a VN tends to be really bad in most cases due to several factors like the unability of picking a single heroine or route per say and then the story suffers greatly from it. Examples: 11eyes, Tayutama: Kiss on my Deity, Little Busters, and the list goes on and on. Unless the VN is a kinetic novel like Higurashi or doesn't have many routes like School Days it will almost certainily fail due to the fact that it's impossible to cover all the ground the VN offers and that's where the main issue lies. There are very few good VN adaptations. There aren't really many VNs adapted from anime because VNs tends to be the source/original material and also anime itself is already an adaptation of a manga/novel for most cases so, unless the VN is a totally new piece of content with a different setting/story based off the anime, an adaptation of an adaptation is kind of meh. But ignoring these facts, VNs adapted from any other source material generally tend to be better because they offer something the anime (or other medium) didn't have and that's usually good no matter how you look at it. Has anyone ever complained about having extra content? I didn't. Most of the times it even offers a different story and setting which surpasses the original in many ways and offers you a much wider range of experiences and make you feel better regarding the franchise than the anime did. Examples: Oreimo, Toradora Portable That is why i do prefer a VN that's adapted from an anime as opposed to an anime adapted from a VN Unless the VN the anime was adapted from is a kinetic novel or has a very linear plot then it will most likely fail as an anime unless you put it in an omnibus format like Amagami did which was great by the way and more shows need to start doing that for romance adaptations of VNs instead of giving us a crappy "harem" end.1 point

hmm, VN adapted from anime. i guess this is the right one since i like picking myself the right heroine for me. I hate it when my heroine isn't picked in a animation but that is understandable. Besides, VN tend to have much more story than an anime adaption. A lot of animation have cliffhangers at the end.1 point

H-Scenes. Really necessary?
Crubitz reacted to Evolutionary for a topic
In certain VN's, primarily those that already have good storytelling, I think the H-scenes are their own form of distinct characterization. Before everyone looks at me funny --- Everyone has different tastes when it comes to sex. Everyone puts a different emphasis on the various aspects of it, which is almost like a person's own signature. Is this person a passionate lover? Are they more of a giver than a taker? Are they rough? Do they like extended foreplay? Do they have habits ( like random bitting )? Realistically, people are complex and deep. A person who seems gentle on the outside could be an entirely different sort of beast once the clothes come off. VN's are similar, yet obviously not. We see the public( and sometimes private-but-not-sex-private )side of these character's traits -- their mannerisms, they hopes, dreams, their love(s) - and that's the 'normal scenes' for most VN's. Then we get ... a few ( sometimse a lot ) of panels of an h-scene. An h-scene, in GOOD VN's, is usually just the act of expanding upon that and showing another side to that character. Even the position can be demonstrative of a person's personality - even more so is how 'attentive' those characters are afterwords. We only get so long of reading an h-scene before it ends, so the different positions, different things said, different angles, are usually a way to convey that both didn't just...do their business and call it done ( although: I have seen a few VN's where that's all the h-scenes, early on, were. Quick, to the point, and very loveless. But they were meant to be. ) There was more INVOLVED there, one way or another. On the flip side to this, a few VN's tend to edge against that and have progression in their h-scene's. An early h-scene could just be...rough, flippant, distant. "Casual", if you will. But as the story progresses, the h-scene's become more involved, more loving, more tender ( or the opposite - start out loving and turn distant, but I have only seen that ONCE, and it was in an Otome ). As that character 'grows' and experiences things with their partner(s), the h-scene's themselves change. There's a few instances where I've seen this ( a VN with more than a few h-scene's -- at first I thought it was just going to be pure, all out h-scene after h-scene, but it actually had a good story, and each h-scene depicted some measure of 'trust' and 'growth' in the characters). The entire premise of the tsundere-archetype is built upon that same principle: a character who could initially start out cold or hostile, then warm up over time. And 'giving yourself' to someone else is one of the big acts of "trust" ( I say thise loosely because that definition changes based on each individual ) that generally comes with life, and would it really be the same if you're just TOLD how much this girl loves this guy -- rather than see it? If there wasn't ANY build up, if there was NO sexual tension, but these two characters 'loved' each other, would it "feel" right? Would it convey that same sense of emotion, trust, and connection? In some stories: it can. And does it well. But in many, it's the 'it finally happened' moment. Especially in stories that don't have an antagonist or challenge to overcome ( mostly romcom's -- which makes it hard for me to read them lately ). The opposite question also rings true. If these two characters constantly eyed each other, held hands, kissed, came -so- close to going the distance...but never did, would it feel REAL? If there was never that moment of, "THEY FINALLY GOT TOGETHER" after dating for two years -- would it cheapen the entire experience? Going through a 40 hour playthrough of a VN, watching these two characters almost lose each other over and over, struggle to be together, struggle just to survive, or struggle to remain faithful to each other, and finally get a moment to themselves -- wouldn't it be MORE strange that nothing happened between them? ( Note an exception: there are VN's where characters, male and female, do everything with a pulse -- which is, in and of itself, a statement of that character's personality. Maybe a traumatic past that they just want to 'block out'? Maybe they just enjoy it? Maybe the guy likes to 'conquer girls', which is yet another personality example? Or the opposite -- a woman who 'conquers men'. ) tl;dr: Sometimes it's easy to tell which h-scene's are just "in there" for the sake of being in there, and which are truly expanding on the characters stories. Sometimes it's not. Usually good VN's are backed with good h-scene's that have some deeper purpose than just being 'thrown in sex'.1 point -
Grisaia no Kajitsu Licensed by Sekai Project Summary Mihama Academy - on the surface, a closed learning environment established to nurture students who find themselves at odds with the world around them; in actuality, an orchard-cum-prison built to preserve fruit that has fallen too far from its tree. Whatever the circumstances behind its establishment, Mihama Academy is at present home to five female students, all with their own reasons for "enrollment." For better or worse, each girl has established a routine obliging of her current situation; life moves at an idle, yet accommodating pace within the walls of Mihama. Yet with the arrival of the institute's first male student, the nearly preposterously opaque Kazami Yuuji, the students at Mihama begin to fall out of step with their predetermined rhythms. Will Yuuji prove to be the element the girls around him needed to take hold of their lives once more, or will the weight of their pasts prove too steep a wall to overcome? And in the first place, just who is Kazami Yuuji? While the true nature of the "job" he is wont to alight to at the most haphazard of moments remains shrouded in secrecy, one thing is for certain - his encroachment upon the quiet orchard known as Mihama Academy will prove itself momentous in one way or another. And of course, one cannot discount the possibility that perhaps Yuuji himself carries the weightiest past of any of the students... Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order The game has a similar structure to G-Senjou no Maou in that its plot branches into a heroine's route at certain choices, although each of them is valid in its own as there's no true end. After entering a heroine's route the choices boil down to a single one for good/bad end. Following the flow of the story and entering each route as soon as you encounter them would lead to the following order: Makina -> Amane -> Sachi -> Michiru -> Yumiko. That said, Route Guideline Amane Good End Bad End Makina Good End Bad End Michiru Good End Bad End Sachi Good End Bad End Yumiko Good End Bad End Attribution A mysterious source.
