It is with great pleasure that Mephisto and the OriginalRen are proud to announce that we will be hosting live translation recordings of visual novel fun. Our game of choice will be played in the original Japanese scripts, with Mephisto translating for the whole gang. With that, I suppose it is only fair to announce the actual game we will be playing. Well, after much discussion on a list of games we owned, we decided on the ever desired Cocoro@Function! The Multi-purpose communication card “Orca” provides a phone network (that goes without saying), an overwhelming number of apps to use allowing one to shop from their home telephone, and even a way to receive school lessons. Even IDs and the health insurance cards are all incorporated into the Orca card. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that one’s entire life is influenced by this one small card. I, Hayami Taiyou, lives in a city that supports cutting-edge Orca cards, also a student of Makoto Advanced Academy (something like this city has the best ones) Blessed with friends, and although i have no large problems occur in my daily life…… A bug occurred in some students’ Orca card after a sudden automatic update was applied. An unusual app called “Cocoro Function” was installed. And it seems I was one of them, and apparently due to this app, my inner thoughts are revealed to the people around me. “Chairman! Bad News!” “What’s wrong? (But, I would never get tired of groping your bouncing boobs)” “Chairman! You pervert!” You can’t delete the app, but on the other hand you couldn’t live without Orca either. After that, it was impossible to hide my erotic delusions. Furthermore, apparently there are other apps at school that have special features that are also causing problems. The troubles in school are gradually building up. I had to do something, and with that in mind, I gathered a group of people also bothered by this mysterious app, and started up the Cocoro Function Countermeasure Committee (CFC), in order to try to solve the problem. Can everyone else and I retain our peaceful school life!?! Finally, after each recording session, I will post links which will recap the game as we go. Day 12 Recap - The Troubled Twin Hey all, Another day, another stream. You know the drill: a double recap of day 12 and 13. Feel free to comment, and as always, I hope they help. Let's dive in! Additional information about Cocoro@Function: 1. The SR system is quite the feet of engineering in the technological world of Cocoro@Function! As you are all aware, it allows users to view projected images for whatever purpose through the use of a small bracelet that attaches to the wrist. Although you probably already know this, owners of an application are unable to remove the SR unit. This was true in Taiyou's case, but is the same for Sei and Asagao (Imouto) as well. 2. It is interesting to note that there are some functions that are able to be used whenever the user feels like and is easily controlled, however other applications (as is the case with Taiyou) are impossible to predict. However, recently Taiyou has been able to beat his Open Window version by controlling the thoughts he feels in his mind rather than his heart. This is true around the Shirakusa sister twins when he is able to think about wanting to view them in lewd ways while telling himself to watch what he is thinking. It isn't until he stops focusing on his thoughts that he reverts back to leaking them out. Perhaps in this case it is possible to control his function. And that's about it for day 12 everyone. Let's move on to day 13! Day 13 Recap - Enter C@F: Ver. Persona Changer Day 13 coming at you! Additional Information about Cocoro@Function: 1. Ibuki now has a Cocoro@Function installed on her Orca. Calling itself Persona Changer, it allows Ibuki to adapt different personalities based on how she wants to feel at that moment. Given the fact that she is a shy girl to begin with, her function allowed her to obtain a cheerful personality to help in making friends. When confronted about it by the CFC members, she entered a defensive state as soon as Taiyou began to sexually harass her, thus adopting a 3rd personality that acts cold. Ibuki is not able to control when her personality changes surface, and only time will tell whether this plays a role when leveling her application up or not. Additional information about the world: 1. The SR system is able to somehow allow people to live within a dream world they create in which they are able to never wake up. While we believe it is the work of an application, it is interesting to note that this phenomenon only occurs to females. The source of this dream state is located somewhere in the girls' dorm. More details on this as the stream continues, but we are certain some specific person is causing this. And that's it for the recaps! Keep in mind that Japanese is a very context-heavy language, so providing only one line is pretty unreasonable. On a side note, this might be a little late in the game, but you may want to start with an easier VN. I admit that this particular game is a one of the more challenging reads out of all of Yuzusoft's games, but most of these lines are honestly pretty basic structure-wise. You might want to start out with the non-scifi titles.

95% of people here don't have a first one and 50% don't have a second one, and thats prety much the key to finding enough time for other of thouse things.

I've been playing Dark Souls and came across this video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=y-YvxPvqOmE Titled "Is Dark Souls the Future of Videogame Storytelling?" In Dark Souls, the bosses etc have no clear backstory. However, small hints are dropped, and fans stretch them into full blown lores. The advantage is you spend most of your time actually playing the game rather than listening to babble. Some would argue that's how video games should be. Of course, that's quite the opposite as VNs, which are all about pages upon pages of words. I grew up wanting to write novels. Now I build games, but I want to carry the writing craft across to my new endeavor. Videos like the above make a great point and so it makes me (over)think these things. Perhaps even concerned if I feel paranoid. Recently, Narcissu came out on Steam, and I hear folks saying it's boring because it has no gameplay. Everyone's different, but you get the idea. I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this topic as it's great research material for me. No doubt, it probably comes down to personal taste, which is cool, too. Thanks .
