Hello, World -- No Response After Running
LinovaA and 2 others reacted to binaryfail for a topic
Actually, now I have a solution... The game exe is just a launcher for the main engine (which is the dll file), so I wrote my own little launcher as an alternative. Surprise, the game can run on both 32 and 64 bit Windows! Get this file and put it in the game's folder. This has only been tested for the DVD edition, so I wouldn't know if it works for other versions of the game.3 points -

Indeedydilily. This season has some series I'm finding entertaining but, at least for now, none have me waiting excitedly for the following week's episode. Also, thinking back. The true reaction to Musaigen no Phantom World:2 points -
Same. True Love 95 I played 20 years ago and while it's pretty modest by today's VN standards, it still had a magic, since it was a true dating sim, not just a VN, that today's VN's often don't quite match. After playing it I fell for the genre and haven't been able to stop playing VNs since.2 points

There should have been a bad ending for Ritsuko's route where she gets NTR'ed, but I guess that would be too much... lol But I agree with you @Zenophilious, Chiho's route is just so bad. Too much tsun-tsun isn't a good thing. There's gotta be a good balance with the dere.2 points -

As I read it, the goal isn't to move to a new server software, but rather to get something, which can be backed up easily and have minimal risk of data loss. Secondary goals are low maintenance and user friendliness/user features. If the current software doesn't live up to the requirements, then fix it or find some new software, which does. If it is decided to move to new software, then copy the server to some local server, convert it and check the result. If it breaks stuff, delete it and start over. Repeat until you get it right. Once you know how to do it, backup the server and switch the software. If it unexpectedly breaks stuff, you still have the backup you can restore. A semi related note on this: quite a number of servers today are virtual servers and with good reason. You can back up the entire HD disk image, run whatever update you want and if it breaks, you can restore the old HD by simply copying a single (big) file. Having the entire server on a disk image also mean it can be copied to other servers if needed. Chances are that the server is already a virtual server unless there is a dedicated server hardware, which is paid to not run anything else. I feel a bit weird saying this as "the new guy". I hate when people show up out of nowhere and tell how to do something and demand it to be done that way (usually ignoring that there is a reason why it isn't so already). I will not demand anything and have tried to be more objective about this post. Still I would like to request not giving up just because of one failed attempt at some point. It is almost to be expected that the first attempt fails, which is why you should sandbox your tests until you get something working. If I have to say my opinion on this matter, then I would say I would prefer different forum software. I hate the post comment interface with all the mandatory mouseclicks and while it is supposed to be intuitive, I get lost in it and still haven't figured out how to make posts look like I want. However this isn't a critical issue. The dataloss is and if the current software has an unfixable design flaw, which makes it prone to dataloss, then I strongly wish for something better.2 points

Bunny Black Info/Help Topic
Mr Poltroon reacted to Martic for a topic
Bunny Black Bunny Black is the first of a trilogy developed by SofthouseChara, known for their unique simulation games. Every game they release is a simulator of anything from managing a Hot Spring resort to surviving on a deserted island. Unfortunately, this is their first game to be translated into English. The English patch for this game was created by the hard working people at Seiha Translations. Big thanks to them for their hard work. They also plan to translate Bunny Black 2 and 3! As it is a fan translation, there are some mistakes here and there, but nothing major. I don't have any right to complain Bunny Black (at least the first one) is more or less a simulation of being a minion to a demon. There is a hierarchy to work your way up, and the game is pretty addicting if not a bit grindy. The gameplay is traditional dungeon crawling, akin to King's Field. This game is difficult at first, and some people may rage quit pretty early on due to it. After you gain some resources and get the hang of things, this game becomes a breeze (mostly.) If you follow the starting tips in this help topic, even if only as a guideline, then you should be well on your way to... raping women. A lot. The rape in this game is very light. No mind break or guro(gory sex). If you have played Rance, it's a bit like that. Although in my opinion it is a little darker, but still not too bad. You can't avoid all of these scenes either, as when you rest to restore health and skill uses there is an H scene. Some are rape, some aren't. You can hold ctrl to skip through these quickly if you desire. This guide is still a work in progress, and I rely heavily on the community to fill in the blanks, so feel free to leave any info or knowledge you think is relevant, or ask questions if what you need to know isn't covered in the guide. Dungeon Maps Here are the links to each dungeon's maps. If your browser supports it, translate the pages to English. In Google Chrome, just right click and select Translate to English. Updates(Check back frequently) Update #1: Compiled a list telling you how many H scenes are available for each female adventurer class. Also working on a skill list, but the tedium means it is updating slowly. Update #2: Skill list mostly complete. Missing some max use info and the English Patch names for some of the skills. I color coded the skill names to match their category color ingame. This will hopefully make the list easier to navigate. Update #3: Reformatted the guide. Update #4: Skill list almost done. Just need the Seiha translation names for some skills, and the max uses for Poison Shot. Starting tips -Don't gear yourself out in the beginning. Instead, focus on buying demons. Make sure to get a Heal Goo at first, and some type of tank (I recommend Werebear) Save up to get a Fairy quickly, as not only does it give you some magical prowess, but it is a competent healer. It also allows you to see yourself on the minimap. -Make sure to do cleaning jobs and avoid battles until you have at least one Fairy, one Heal Goo (or another Fairy if you prefer), and two tanks (again, I recommend Werebears) -When choosing a weapon, keep in mind that Spears, Daggers, and Shurikens will allow you to take skills from two skill trees. Dagger and Shuriken will allow you to use Edged and Ranged skills, while Spear will allow for Edged and Blunt. It is also worth noting that the ranged skill tree contains the only STR based full AOE skill in the game. -In the Options menu, you should notice an option that controls auto saving. At default, it is set at 2. This means the game saves after every battle (even if you run away.)Don't be afraid to abuse this in order to save yourself some frustration/time. -Do some grinding and you will be able to handle the Tower of Storms pretty easily. Just watch out when doing jobs in the next dungeon. -Don't be afraid to leave a dungeon if you take a job and find it too hard. The job will not be affected, and you can come back to it later without any penalties. -Watch out for cursed equipment. Once equipped, you can't unequip it without paying 1000 gold. They will also do continuous damage to you every turn in battle, so if you do accidentally equip one, remove it immediately. The best way to tell if equipment is cursed is to read the item description. If it sounds negative, it is probably cursed. -You can use the arrow keys to move, or change the Key Configuration in the Options menu for a setup of your choice. I didn't notice this right away (oops!) -You can assign your skills to something of a hotbar. In battle, if you go to your skills list and choose a skill, you can click one of the empty slots on your battle menu to shortcut the skill to it. You can only do this with 3 skills, and the top bar is an auto skill bar, meaning if you put your regular attack there, you can just click on an enemy and attack it without having to choose the option on your battle menu. -If your demon dies in battle, you can rehire it at the shop (it will be at the top of the party list in red). The cost of this increases as it levels up, and also increases the more it dies. -In terms of difficulty, from easiest to hardest, we have: Tower of Storms - Cave of Bueroza - Garden Lair - Overgrown Thicket/Frozen Wood - Cavern of Flames - Den of Malevolence - Overlord's Shrine. Cavern of Flames is ranked higher than Thicket and Frozen Wood due to having to have a specific type of demon in your party in order to move freely. Thanks to Suzu Fanatic, it's now a little clearer what the tactics options in battle do exactly. Attack- Focus on offense, but characters that can heal still might do so. All Out- All offense, none of your demons will heal. Survive- Demons will only use physical attacks, they will not heal or use magic of any kind. Standby- All of your demons will simply defend. If you are grinding last hits on female adventurers, this can make things go faster. Conserve- All demons that can heal will mainly focus on healing. All on One- All demons will attack the same enemy. Front Row- Your demons will only attack the back row. Back Row- Your demons will only attack the front row. Skill Point Allocation Since you won't be able to max out all of your skills, here are my recommendations on what skills to get. Must Have: Master of Unlocking- It's not required to max this, but put a few points in it. 80% of my equipment came from magic chests, and paying 1000 to unlock one is too much. If you so choose, you can abuse save states and open all the chests in your room, write down what the traps are, reload, and open them safely with no penalty. The traps are static and don't change, so this method will work. I used it about halfway through the game because some of the trap penalties are a little steep. (4000 gold if it's a bomb? Way overkill.) Combat Medic(and all spells it unlocks)- The AI is... unreliable at best when it comes to healing. For instance, with a team of 9 my healer was using the highest tier all heal spell whenever one character took a single point in damage. It's best to learn these yourself. Warp Magic- Don't max this skill, just raise it until you get Adv Warp Magic, since this lets you teleport anywhere you choose as opposed to randomly. Also put a point into Spatial magic, as this lets you exit the dungeon immediately. Weapon Skill- Whichever weapon skill tree you choose, put points into it early so you can unlock more weapon skills. I chose Edged weapons, and at level 5 you get a skill that hits the whole front row, which stays useful for most of the game. Charismatic- Probably the most important. Get this as early as possible, because once you max it you unlock skills that raise your whole party's stats by 5 (as a passive.) which you should also max. Recommended: At least one type of magic- Choose an element you like, and raise it until you get the Piercing and Wide versions of it. Raise those until you get the Adv magic of that element. These skills will let you hit a column, row, and the whole field respectively. It's good to have as many AOE skills as possible. Weapon/Magic Master- If you are a mage, choose magic obviously. These will strengthen all of your weapon/magic skills. Steadfast/Magic Resistant- If you are making Darx into a tank, max both of these ASAP. If not, then consider only raising these halfway. Chicken Heart- Pretty handy for emergency situations. Most games I don't recommend these types of skills, but here you will probably need it. Popular- You have to sink quite a few points into this, but with some of the higher costs towards the end of the game it is worth it. Good Haggler- As I have stated, I used magic chests for most of my equipment, so I recommend this over VIP treatment. If you choose to sell chests, then get VIP treatment instead. Quick Learner- This one is up to you. I'm about 70% through the game, and with some grinding am already level 99 (max level). I did max this skill pretty early on, but if you don't want to reach max level too early you might consider only raising it halfway, or not at all. Avoid: Vanishing Act- As far as I can tell, this skill does nothing. I used it four times in a row and it didn't do a thing. Appraiser- It only costs 100 to appraise at the shop, and you will be going there to sell loot anyways so there's no reason to take this. You might be able to justify this if you only take the first level early in the game when you are broke, but at that point you will need other skills more than this. Status Effect magic- There virtually 0 application for these. Most battles will end too quickly for these to make a difference. I feel as though the same can be said for stat buffs (I never used them) but not to the degree that I would say to avoid them. Medicine Man- Perhaps it's just me, but I never use healing items. So this skill is pretty useless. You can put some points into it if you use healing items, but otherwise don't bother. Any of the skills that aren't listed each have their uses depending on your build and/or patience. After the first bit when you are gathering resources the game gets much easier, so keep that in mind when figuring out which skills to take as well.1 point -
I told a couple people I would post my thoughts about Sayonara wo Oshiete when I finished it, and just a few days ago I finished a bad end and Mutsuki's good end. So here are my impressions, thoughts, and analysis of that experience. Also, this post does not contain any significant spoilers to the VN. So its safe for all those that are curious. (Also from here on forward I will refer to Sayonara wo Oshiete as 'Sayooshi') Before I start talking about Sayooshi, I want to briefly describe the circumstances in which I discovered it. During this past summer, after having studied Japanese (with a grammatical focus) for a while, I wanted to get a few easy moege under my belt before attempting something I actually wanted to read. I was honestly having a miserable time, as I hate moege. I was reading them for no other reason than to practice and learn Japanese, as they were appropriate for my level. I wasn't having fun, and it honestly felt like work more than anything else. Just as I was about to give up on Untld Vns for the time being, I read a post by Vokoca talking about Sayooshi, and he linked to this video. The unsettling music and ominous imagery instantly piqued my curiosity and I set out to get this VN. For a while I was saving it, still thinking "My Japanese isn't good enough yet", but then at some point in the fall I decided "Fuck it, with the help of dictionaries and text hooking software, I can make this journey", and began reading it whenever I had time. And boy was this a journey worth taking, even if I did proceed through it a bit slowly. I love the first person narrative because getting inside the heads of interesting characters is truly experiencing the world through a different person's eyes. And VNs in my view are the best medium for first person narration, as they allow you to to see and hear what the MC experiences. Furthermore, back ground music enriches the story by immersing the reader in the moods of various settings and situations. Sayooshi takes all these strengths of VNs and the first person narrative, and uses it to put you inside the head of a madman. A man whose sense of reality is slipping further and further away by the day. The unreliable narrator is a literary trope that I really enjoy, but this is an area where I think VNs by default have higher potential than books. It is one thing to solely read the mind of a madman/untrustworthy narrator, it is another thing all together to see and hear that man's world, on top of reading his narrative. Too often I see wasted potential in the artistic side of VNs. Visual art is important for not only conveying ideas (i.e. a picture of a hallway should look like a hallway, a picture of a girl should look like a girl, etc.), but art can also convey moods. VNs of the same era usually have extremely similar character designs, and there is usually a lack of creativity in artistic style in VNs. While the character designs aren't anything revolutionary (it is admittedly nice that this VN came out before moe blobs became popular though), what is special about the art, is the eternal twilight. Hitomi's world is a world drenched in the orange and reddish hue of twilight, as the VN takes place exclusively during the evening. And coupled with all the things Hitomi experiences, the color of twilight really makes things even more ominous. It instills a feeling of loneliness, or at the very least detachment. Supporting the artwork in creating an unsettling atmosphere, is the music. The main theme that plays when Hitomi is wandering the school alone (this theme), only reinforces the feelings of detachment that the visual art and writing create. Character themes as well are quite well suited for each of the characters and the moods they represent, further successfully reinforcing the tone of the writing. Now onto the writing itself. Things are confusing, and they only get more confusing. Any sense of orientation is screwed around with, and this only gets worse as the story continues. You are left thinking "Did what I see actually happen?", until it gets to the point where you just altogether give up on distinguishing reality. In this way, you yourself submit to the insanity and fall further into Hitomi's world. Not knowing what to make of his situation. The only difference between you and him, is that you know he is crazy, but nonetheless identify with him because you experience the same sense of the world as he does. And perhaps weird to say, but the H-scenes in this VN serve to further sympathize with his madness. When I was telling a (non-VN reading) friend of mine about Sayooshi. He admitted that it sounded interesting, and even could appreciate the use of the H-scenes from an intellectual perspective. But he then told me that what he thought was truly disturbing, was not the use of H-scenes, but that "inevitably there will be people out there that will find it arousing". For him, (and his understanding of what I told him about Sayooshi), the sex scenes, which are exclusively rape scenes, serve to reinforce Hitomi's insanity, and therefore their portrayal is justified. But finding the scenes arousing yourself, is horrific as it is identifying with a monster; like the monster that plagues Hitomi's dreams. But it is here, where I disagree. The VN does everything in its power to have you identify with Hitomi's insanity, and the sex scenes are no exception. The sex scenes are arousing, despite knowing that they shouldn't be. It isn't just rape, but the Heroines are (supposedly) middle school girls for Christ's sake. Perhaps eroge players (particularly nukige fans) maybe a bit desensitized, but this is certainly fucked up. But just like when Hitomi experiences the dream that plagues him for the first half of the story, he knows he is the monster raping the angel, and there is pleasure still drawn from this. A pleasure that Hitomi knows is horrible and monstrous. But just as Hitomi submits to the role as the monster as he views his nightmare; we are in an identical role, viewing (and partly identifying) with his sexual misdemeanors as he commits them. It coerces you into submitting yourself to the madness of these H-scenes. By doing so an enjoyment is found in them, but for you and Hitomi alike there is a darkness implied in that pleasure. Furthermore, Hitomi seems to understand that he is defiling them. There is a guilt and sense of disgust felt, but also a feeling of extreme excitement, just as we as readers feel. This is shown through the multiple references he makes to 'contaminating the purity of the angel/Mutsuki', to paraphrase what he says. The H-scenes, and our feelings towards them, mirror Hitomi's perspective; furthering our identification with his insanity. Yet, just like the reoccurring nightmare, the H-scenes almost always end abruptly, and are divorced from continuity. It is not uncommon for an H scene to abruptly happen, end all of a sudden, and the next thing you know you are placed into a completely different context. And not only do the H-scenes lack continuity immediately before and after, but the characters never make reference to it afterwards, and act just as they did before. Further questioning whether they ever really happened. And this confusion surrounding the reality of the h-scenes, makes it easier to identify with Hitomi during them, since the normal consequences and damage caused by rape, do not apply. (Perhaps this would be a considered spoiler if I could guarantee that it actually happened ) And for all these reasons, I feel that the thesis of this VN is the fragility of the human mind. Often we draw huge differences between the mentally deranged, and functional normal human beings; but what Sayooshi points out is that the difference is actually rather subtle. In seeing the world Hitomi experiences, and sympathizing with him, it gets us to realize that we ourselves are not that different. That given his circumstances and what he experiences (and seeing it through his eyes), his reactions are actually understandable. The atmosphere of his world, and reading the thoughts of his mind, gets us to question his sanity, and in doing so, eventually gets us to question our own sanity as well. Sayooshi in an incredibly strong atmospheric experience. And it is for this reason that I feel Sayooshi is a great representative of the strengths VNs offer as a medium. This VN took advantage of all the tools it had as a VN (music, sound effects, visuals, and narrative) to provide a full experience of what the wanders of a madman look like. I really felt like I understood to a degree what it was like to be insane reading this work, and I don't think I would have been able to identify as well if it were told in any other medium in any other way.1 point

Sickness
Forgetful Frank reacted to Ka-Aniki for a topic
Summary/Plot Sickness is a Visual Novel following the life of Koro, a high school student turned violent criminal. Following the deaths of his parents, Koro is left without a home or source of income. All he has is his twin sister, Sara, who he promises to provide for, even if doing so means throwing his life away. Using the entirety of their savings, the two move to another city, wherein Koro quickly finds work. Sara commutes to her old school, Koro works long, physically-demanding hours, and the two survive off instant food, barely scraping by. It isn't a happy life, but they make it work. Or at least they did, until a violent outburst set into motion a rapid descent. Amid a physical altercation with his boss, Koro blacks out, waking up to find a corpse laying at his feet. His knuckles bloody, his muscles aching, he realizes that he has just murdered his boss, the person responsible for his continued well-being. But rather than lament the loss of life, all Koro can think of is how badly he needed the money, and what he'll do next to get it. Drawn by the scent of blood, one of Koro's coworkers, a young man with criminal connections, offers him a not so legal revenue stream, one encouraging violent behavior and rewarding the capable. And from there, everything spirals out of control. As it turns out, Koro has a knack for crime, and the petty reservations he had about such acts don't last long. For the well-being of his sister, as well as his own self-interest, he becomes a killer for hire, taking out people anybody his new boss tells him to. He quickly adapts to life as a killer, adopting a double life his sister can never know about. But his new life is not without trouble. Facing death on a weekly basis is only the beginning; between avoiding police detection, eyewitnesses, and even the malice of his fellow professional killers, Koro's new life looks to be the death of him. Will Koro manage to survive long enough to keep his promise to his sister? Will he turn tail and escape from this life of crime, finding solace in the company of someone or something else? Or will he be hunted down and killed before he ever gets the chance? Main Characters Sara Tesla - Koro's twin sister Sara is a high school student who harbors complex feelings. To her brother, Sara is an angelic sister with a loving nature and endless affection; an image she cultivates and builds on daily. To everyone else, however, Sara is narcissistic and thoroughly two-faced. Family aside, Sara doesn't care for other people in the slightest, and as a result of her desperately trying to hide this fact, her family mistakenly believe Sara to be bipolar. Karasu - An up and coming crimelord Karasu builds his wealth through a variety of "services", including, but not limited to, gambling, corporate espionage, and organ trafficking. Above all, however, Karasu is most famous for providing "waste disposal" for neighboring towns, whether they request his services or not. His ultimate goal is to build an empire he can share with his beloved "children"; interesting individuals he has taken under his wing and granted a new lease on life. Though many view him as a sadistic narcissist who will stop at nothing to obtain what he wants, Karasu is ultimately a simple businessman who displays affection only for a chosen few. Sai - Karasu's right-hand man Sai is Karasu's most trusted and capable employee, responsible for overseeing his most lucrative business ventures, despite always working in the shadows. He is also responsible for “breaking in” new recruits, and as such becomes Koro's teacher. Unrivaled in what he does, Sai is a ruthless killer who feels no remorse; those who get on his bad side seldom live long enough to realize it. The only things more important to Sai than his work are his daughter's well-being and happiness. Misa - Sai's daughter Misa is a teenage girl who wishes for a normal life. Being the daughter of a professional killer (and protective father), however, Misa has trained from a young age in order to protect herself from the dangers of the world, and in doing so inevitably became aware of her father's line of work. As her father's work absorbed her life, Misa adapted her skillset to match those of a killer, using her youth and small figure to become the youngest and most discreet killer among her peers. Outside of work, Misa is still just a young girl. She's very friendly, once she warms up to someone, and is protective of those close to her. solidbatman reacted to Fred the Barber for a topic
The latter of those isn't even an uncommon occurrence. For a recent, high-profile example, look at the Wheel of Time series. The example is pretty much tailor-made to disprove your claim: the novels Brandon Sanderson wrote are way better than their immediate predecessors, written by the original author Robert Jordan. Zeno also already gave another good example of this earlier in the thread - the new Star Wars movie, with new writing, directing, etc., is probably literally universally considered better than any entry in the prequel series (episodes 1-3), written by original creator and bad screenwriter George Lucas.1 point -
I am surprised someone revived this thread... its been dead for years, lol. Konata yori Kanata Made Boku ga Tenshi ni Natta Wake (upcoming translation, though I don't know if a date was set) Eden* (translated) Satsukoi Soukou Akki Muramasa (if you have the reading level for this) Houkago no Futekikakusha (some of the most delicious despair I've ever seen in a VN) Edit: There are two types of utsuge... 'hard' utsuge, where despair is the central emotion, and 'soft' utsuge where 'sorrow' is the central emotion. Boku ga Tenshi, Soukou Akki Muramasa, and Houkago no Futekikakusha are 'hard' utsuge, whereas Nirvana, Eden*, Konakana, and Satsukoi are all 'soft' utsuge.1 point

Ritsuko also shares the rebellious and playful side with her sister and it's quite a lot of fun to see that side come out more and more as she stops trying to balance out the family issues. Also, Ritsuko's route being the second best is accepted consens, filthy plebs. I can psychologically explain the recited words on top: The patient formerly known as Eclipsed, somehow talked himself into liking Rise the most out of the Princess Evangile cast, probably due to heavily progressed stockholm syndrome, developed by overexposure to boring scenes. However, since Rise and Chiho are very similar to each other (comparable roles in the VN, body structures, and placings on the PE Tierlist, etc.), the patient formerly known as Eclipsed, is now using Chiho as a substitute and focuspoint for the anger and salt he should normally feel towards both individuals, but can't because of his mental decay. The only known cure for this condition, would be to burn all Rise fan articles in the patient's possession, if existent. This should be done in addition to repeatedly exposing the patient to Ayaka's and/or Ritsuko's route. Trust me, I'm a doctor1 point -

Vn Reading Club - January 2016: Gahkthun
Fred the Barber reacted to Kosakyun for a topic
Ahahahaha. Well, you put me up to this. I was trying to resist posting until Tuesday, but since you posted, I'll just pin the blame on you. Now, I'll prevent myself from posting too many things, so I'll just go and post my overall opinion on each chapter I've read and my real-time comments while I was reading them. Last one I posted was Chapter 3, so I'll go straight to Chapter 4. Chapter 4: Chapter 5: So I haven't put my real-time comments yet due to my USB not being read by the computer, so kek. I'll put it in the future. By the way, I'm constructing a timeline of events for Gahkthun, so if you guys ever want to see the timeline, I can always share it. I grew fond of keeping tracks of dates when I started reading this one. Probably will continue for all other visual novels which state the exact dates for events. Some dates weren't stated directly in the visual novel, so I had to think about them on my own. I'm currently at the final chapter, but I'll refrain from posting my thoughts about chapters which haven't been read or haven't been started on by others to prevent spoiling or whatever. But being spoiled by stuff in spoiler sections of the post is the spoiled person's fault, so no blame pls.1 point -
Hmmm. My first VN that I read would be Katawa Shoujo, back in early 2013. I remember I was sailing the pirate seas that time, and saw "Katawa Shoujo." I was like, "Wut, Japanese titled game with English trans? Meh, guess I'll try it." Finished the game in a day or two, only stopping for lunch and dinner. Sadly, even though it was my first VN, it didn't strike me as much as my next VN, which was Yume Miru Kusuri. Damn, now that VN left a really deep impression on me.1 point

Moe does make it easier... but there are almost no titles now that don't have at least some moe in them. So, I honestly don't see the point in pushing VNs that are all-moe. Edit: To elaborate, there are hundreds of titles out there with moe in them, even if they aren't straight-out moe-focused. In fact, straight-out moe-focused moege are almost universally kusoge. Charage can be awesome at times, but normal straight-out moege are so artificial feeling (even by otaku standards) that they can make even charage fans fall asleep. If you want to utilize moe as a primary advertising tool, there nonetheless needs to be something 'more' in there to make it worth backing... unless you want to earn a reputation for asking people to back kusoge.1 point -

Kanon Day, fashionably late this year! Perhaps I will find some point later on in the month to read some Kanon, but this year I don't have time to sufficiently drench myself in the nostalgiafest. Anyway, here is some fan art my sister graciously made for me upon request:1 point

And it's out! http://www.mangagamer.com/detail.php?goods_type=1&product_code=156 Playing it now. I guess this is one of those things where everyone is meant to be speaking english in-world but in-game the voice over is in Japanese and of course the translation is in english. It's kinda weird! This might have been the kind of story where a good english voiceover would have been appreciated. Can't wait until we get to Sora Nyl and everyone is speaking Japanese in New York City. edit: Incidentally, because of this quirk, the translation removes all semblances of honorifics and japanese titles, and localizes them when appropriate. In this case, I suppose honorifics would just be artifacts left over from the original language used and actually conflict with the setting and culture of the game world. I wonder if there are still people out there who would get up in arms over this. Oh yeah, and weirdly enough, the Japanese script uses a weird mix of american and japanese titles. "Mister JJ" is as it was originally written, but you'll still hear your fair share of senpais and other japanese forms of address. I'm probably the only one who finds this kind of thing interesting.1 point -

Skill Requirements Lets get those skills unlocked, shall we? Here is a description of each skill and how to get them (for skills I don't have personally I have to use google translate names. I apologize. Since they are in order as they appear on your skill list, you should be able to figure out what is what. If you could leave a post with Seiha's translation names, it would be much appreciated. The list is color coded according to the skill categories ingame for easier navigation. Skill List: Will edit more things in as I think of them/find them. If anyone wants to leave other tips, tricks, or secrets feel free to leave a post and I'll edit them in as well. Use spoiler tags if necessary please! Thanks to: idian30 for the link to http://chaosmemo.net/bunnyblack/ which I have been pulling some info I was unaware of from. Tips/Tricks/Facts A lot of things in the game either aren't explained well, or are just hard to figure out. This section is here to help you figure out some things you may not have known, as well as give some more advanced tips. Enemy -Yellow enemies are more difficult encounters than is the norm for that floor. You could even consider them mini boss encounters. -After defeating a certain number of female adventurers of each class, you will get an H scene in the prison with them (you will get the prison through story progression). This is pretty easy to figure out on its own, but something you may not notice is that you can get multiple H scenes depending on the class type the more you defeat them. Refer to the Enemy H Scene section below for details. -You can recruit enemy adventurer units by defeating them enough times. The number of times required is pretty high, so don't expect to get this early on without a lot of grinding. It seems you can recruit all classes. If anyone finds an unrecruitable class, let me know. I assume soldier is unrecruitable since they are not H-able. Same for peasants. I got a tip in my inbox that recruiting them is dependent on your exp growth, and if you level too fast you will miss them. Needs verification, but explains why some people are getting them and some aren't. -You're acquaintances are encounterable after their specific quests as yellow enemies (Cass, Ayaka, etc.) Defeating them enough times rewards another H scene (except males obviously.) -Enemies can injure themselves on traps. This could be abusable if you really wanted to, but you shouldn't need to. Just a fun fact! -If the enemy has reserves and you clear out the active enemy units at the same time with an AOE, you won't have to fight the reserve units. Useful if you are looking to save a little time when grinding. Party -The max level is 99. After this, you will not be able to get any more skill points. You also won't get enough skill points to max out even 75% of your skills, so keep that in mind. -Leveling up certain skills unlocks other skills. For instance, leveling up Warp unlocks Advanced Warp (not the actual name of that skill) letting you teleport to a place of your choosing, and leveling up that unlocks Escape, which lets you leave the dungeon upon use. Will compile a list on NG+ playthrough, but any info from others will help speed it up. -Later on, you will unlock what appear to be upgraded forms of demons you already have. This isn't the case, however. They are merely palette swaps with a higher starting level. If your demon is a higher level than the new version of it, do not buy the new version, as it's simply a waste of money. -It's a good idea to make Darx a hybrid character. Make sure he can heal, tank, dish out damage, and use plenty of AOEs. As the only character you can control (and as such the only reliable one) you want him to have an array of skills at his disposal. Items/Equipment -To unlock more items in the shop, you do need to buy more items there. Actual money spent does not matter, just the amount of items purchased. When you get a scene with Raika thanking you for your continued patronage, you have maxed out the shop. -Some items do special things simply by holding them. The description for these will say "held item", and they have various effects. If you can find the Hawk Feather (lets you see the enemy on the minimap even if they are far away), I recommend holding onto it at the cost of an inventory space, as its effect is actually greater than the effect some demons have. I also use the Doorbell (always shows all exits). -Some equipment affects your speed or HP stats, but the game doesn't usually tell you this. Will compile a full list on my NG+ playthrough unless someone wants to provide the info. -If you feel that you need more inventory space, consider switching to full body armor. It will decrease your speed and END (if you have good equipment already equipped that is) but will free up three inventory slots. Full body armor replaces your body, helmet, gloves, and boots. -The best place to farm the XXX books is the Cave of Bueroza, as it contains more chests on average than the other dungeons. -There is an item obtained from a chest in the Cave of Bueroza Floor 13 called the Cave key. This will open a locked door, also found in the Cave on Floor 14. Opening this door will reveal 4 chest with a pretty decent armor set in it, better than available store bought equipment. It isn't the best equipment in the game, and it's not a big deal if you missed it, but it's helpful if you can manage to grab it. CGs/Events -The gallery is unlocked after completing the game once on any difficulty setting. The difficulty setting does not have any affect on the story, events, or CGS, so choos ewhat you would like. -After seeing a scene in Raika's Shop, if you go back to your room and rest you can go back to the shop and get a new scene. This will continue until you have seen every scene available for your renown level. Since this game's missions don't have time limits, feel free to do this if you are worried about missing scenes. -By looting the treasure chests in dungeons (not magical chests, the ones that are actually part of the dungeon) you can obtain XXX books of varying colors (blue, black, and red). Getting 5 books of the same color unlocks an H scene completely unrelated to Bunny Black. I believe each color is a different type of fetish scene. Red is foot fetish/stockings fetish, the others I have not unlocked yet (the best place to farm the XXX books is the Cave of Bueroza, as it contains more chests on average than the other dungeons.) -Keeping the Loam in your hired list (you don't have to set it) will unlock a cg and some scenes after an unknown amount of battles. This appears to be the only demon to do so. -There are specific events that can unlock depending on how many jobs you have done in a specific dungeon, as well as the types of jobs you do. Doing cleaning a lot, for example, will cause other characters to comment on how much you clean. Enemy H Scenes Found some info in the Japanese FAQ mentioning how many H scenes each enemy type has, so here they are. Keep in mind to view these, you must defeat the female in each class type a specific number of times and visit the prison. Check back regularly to see if there's anything new. If there is, go right back to the prison because you may have another one with a different class. You must do the finishing blow yourself for it to count. Prison Scene List:1 point -

Comyu - Kuroi Ryuu to Yasashii Oukoku - VNDB Summary "We are the team. Yes, it's like a community...." There is a legend of a mysterious girl called "Girl A" who appears in the city and sings all night. One night, Akihito meets four boys and girls as if led by the Girl A.... There is no friendship nor trust between them, but they can control a huge iron monster as they like by combining their power. Since the day they get the power, their extraordinary life starts.... Akihito later knows that they will need to pay a price for the power. When the monster dies, their community will also disappear.... They decide to head for another world called Communet with a help of Kagome, a black witch... Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order 1st Playthrough - Route for Heroine 1. There is only one insignificant choice. If you reach a bad end then it'll give you a fun lecture and redirect you back to the choice so don't worry. 2nd Playthrough - Routes for Heroine 2, 3 and 4 will be unlocked after the 1st playthrough. New choices will be available, so start from scratch and save at the choices you encounter to return to; because scene select will not work for you if you're going in an order other than Heroine 2 -> 3 -> 4. Lastly, remember to go through Heroine 1's route a second time for new scenes after the 1st playthrough! 3rd Playthrough - Route for Heroine 5 will be unlocked after completing all three routes above. A new choice will be available. If you choose the correct choice, no matter what other choices you pick afterwards; you'll still be locked on Heroine 5 no matter what other choices you choose. There are a number of Bad Ends throughout the game but they are not important. If you do end up hitting a Bad End then the game will just give you a fun lecture and redirect you back to the choice you hit a wall with. It's actually pretty fun after hitting one so go find them! Route Guideline Takekawa Benio Good End Soejima Hisoka Normal End Good End Yuubana Mayuki Good End Ayaya Enishi Good End Hinaori Kagome Good End Attribution This walkthrough is based on the two versions Hackrabbits and sysBlank put together. Sekien no Inganock -What a Beautiful People- Summary Inganock, a city isolated from the outside, a city where everything is distorted, even the sun. It all started ten years ago, at a day called 'Revival'. Then residents of the city slowly changed into beings partially human and partially animal. To this day, only a few still look fully human on the outside. One of these is Gii, a former medical student, now an illegal doctor that walks the city and cures the poor for free. He changed too, but only in the inside, and his change gave him a mysterious ability that he uses to heal people that keep mutating further every day. He has a few 'friends' if you can call them that. One of them is a black steel cat girl called Ati. Another one is an old friend from his medical school that he just met again after ten years, Salem. But everything truly begins when he meets a little girl with pink eyes named Kia... Ending Guideline While Sekien no Inganock is completely linear it does come with a minigame that can take some trial and error to get through and is sometimes quite frustrating. There is an option in the game to skip this game completely however I do not recommend doing this. Without the information provided in it several core parts of the story will be very hard to understand. Walkthrough Chapter 1: The Sky, There Are Two Suns Chapter 2: And Now, A Fairy Tale Chapter 3: This Sound, Surely If I play It... Chapter 4: A Mirror, Even If It Reflects Nothing... Chapter 5: Right Now, Your Tears Are Right Here Chapter 6: The Window, On A Night of Pouring Rain Chapter 7: My Voice, Even If It Doesn't Reach You Now... Chapter 8: A Death, A Voice from the Intermission Chapter 9: A Flower, One Thing Sparkling Chapter 10: A Flower, On That Day It Bloomed Proudly Chapter 11: My Heart, Where In My Chest?
