  5. As someone who watched Deadpool yesterday, I am definitely in support of super hero movies getting R ratings in the future. The amount of freedom you get when you don't have to tone down a movie for a teen audience is priceless and more movie makers need to realize this. I seriously did not expect Deadpool to go as far as it did, I never saw any other super hero movie do this much. It was incredibly refreshing and I hope we can see more of it in the future. Funny fact: Deadpool got a 14+ rating over here in Portugal and when I went to see it the theater was full of 10 year old kids lol.

  6. Hello ladies and gentlemen of fuwa! Today I will be sharing with you a little writing project I've been working on. Thanks so much to Forgetful Frank for agreeing to edit the book for me! When I started I was editing it myself, which is slow work and I often miss mistakes in my own writing, and so this way it should be a lot better for everyone involved Also, a big thanks to Melowbee for making the illustration for Kitsune! It's a wonderful confidence boost to actually have someone make drawings for my story! Do keep in mind that the book hasn't been fully edited yet, and so a few mistakes here and there is to be expected. Once the book has been fully edited, I'll update the PDF! On to the book: キツネと私 - Kitsune and me Summary: After spending half a day locked in her clubroom at school, Sakura heads home in the middle of the night, in pouring rain. Taking refuge from the terrible conditions, she stumbles into and old and mysterious shrine. Here she discovers a strange little artifact that she thinks may have been stolen from a museum. Wanting to get it checked out the next day, she brings the artifact home. But as the artifact ends up coming to life in the form of the ditsy, energic and completely stunning Kitsune, Sakura's life will never be the same again... Information on the book: Kitsune and me is primarily a comedy, focusing on the relationship between the main character Sakura, and her new guardian ... fox-girl, Kitsune Mimiko. When writing it I focus primarily on having fun and silly interactions between the two, and purposely try to use clichés from common visual novel, anime, manga and light novel works. It's a fun little project I recently decided to start working on, and it's not meant to be taken too seriously. The story offers elements of comedy, romance (yuri), fantasy and action. The structure is fairly similar to most VNs, in that it starts of fluffy and is riddled with mainly humor, and then it gets more dramatic towards the end. Also, note that this is written in English, though I use certain words and phrases from Japanese. Again, this isn't meant to be taken too seriously. Words such as bentou will be in the book to keep the essence of the "Japanese setting" and words such as "ne" will be left in Kitsune's sentences, as they are a part of her speech pattern and that doesn't translate as well into English in my opinion. I also keep Japanese titles when I see fit, like using Kitsune's name. For these parts, translations are on the side of the Japanese symbols. DIGITAL PDF DOWNLOAD FOR THE BOOK! A sketch of Kitsune made by Melowbee! Art made by Melowbee, thank you x100!! Editing is done by Forgetful Frank, thanks so much for that! Special thanks to Nosebleed for helping me with Kitsune's name!

  8. Download finally finished. I'll do my own Steam Key giveaway later, hint: will involve the color pink, and lotsa lotsa sucking up First off, well, now we know why it's 2.1 GB, there's a damn folder for each language, so ~700 MB each, for KR, JP, EN Second off, HOORAY FOR MODERN VNS, visuals look good, title music was good, good good good. Third off, man, I just played Zero Escape: VLR, don't throw the Three Laws of Robotics at me and get me all hyped 'bout dem robots!@$#@$ Fourth off, yes, the english is definitely a bit stiff / unnatural sounding. I'd say between mediocre and decent sounding. Bummer. Fifth off, HEY! THIS IS DA GIRL/THING YOU GONN' FALL IN LOVE WITH AND PROBABLY QQ & CRY OVER, HOW DARE YOU CALL HER/IT A USELESS PIECE OF JUNK, YOU

  9. First, I should mention that this is a true sequel to the original Shugo no Tate and that it is based three years after the events at St Terejia Academy. The protagonist, Kisaragi Shuuji (who didn't get together with any of the girls from the original) is stuck in the job of the cross-dressing bodyguard, and he agrees to carry out this one last mission in exchange for the right to stop cross-dressing (lol). I'm going to say right off the bat that Nozomi is the true/central heroine of this VN. Only in her path are all the aspects of the story fully revealed, and so I advise reading her path last. There are five heroines in this VN... Nozomi (a shy girl who tries not to stand out), Riri (a cross-dressing girl who is immensely popular with the student body), Mana (an air-headed ojousama), Mai (a poison-tongued maid), and Sonya (a Russian transfer student). Like the original, there are a lot of darker aspects hidden under the elegant surface of the school, and those who prefer to avoid serious drama should probably also avoid playing this. Similarly, there are some battle scenes - generally well-described - where the protagonist makes out pretty well. Shuuji, the protagonist, is an experienced bodyguard and agent, and his combat skills show that. Unfortunately for him, his cross-dressing skills are even greater (lol). I should say that the protagonist is a lot more central to the plot than is customary in most of today's VNs (in other words, he isn't overwhelmed by the impact of the heroines), and the original in this duology was my first experience with the trap protagonist. Overall, this game is pretty much what you would expect from a game in the same series as the original Shugo no Tate. There is a decent balance between action, drama, romance and slice-of-life without going overwhelmingly in any of the four directions, save at key points. The endings are generally satisfying enough, though people who have played the better AXL games will definitely recognize their style. The original was a kamige, and this was a fun one to play... but it pretty much requires you to have played the original to get the full effect, so it isn't a VN of the Month candidate. Edit: I should note that some of the heroines have seriously dark pasts, and two of them are about as twisted up inside as the secret heroine from the original. However, like most heroines with twisted pasts, they tend to have some of the best deredere attitudes once they fall in love with the protag.

  10. for you american readers you already know what i mean by r-rating. for those that arent familiar with what im talking about; an r rating is the highest rating a movie can receive, while still being able to be released in theaters across the united states. they usually include one or more of the following; sex, nudity, language, bloody violence, gore, mature themes, etc, etc. A lot of movies intentionally avoid receiving an r rating as this usually means less ticket sales since most parents dont want their child to be traumatized by a nipple or something. however, ever since the release of deadpool that broke every box office record that has existed EVER (might be exaggerating) they are now more open about r ratings. on the down side is people in hollywood might make their movie rated r for the wrong reasons, ie, batman v superman dawn of justice. now the makers of bvsdoj (<--figure it out) have stated that they always wanted to go for an r rating but didnt since the studio was against it. however, after deadpool was r rated and not only was a huge success but it had the highest opening weekend, ever. i honestly dont believe an r rating was bvsdoj's intention in the first place, they just want to jump on the bandwagon before its too late. their mentality seems more like "R rating, equals good movie" when it should be "Good writing and production team, equals good movie." now i know i started this thread with talking about bvsdoj but i really want to talk about this whole r rating more than anything and bvsdoj is a good example for how its done wrong. bvsdoj is simply just jumping on the bandwagon, now they have to make their movie r rated simply because thats what all the hype is all about, but its not really needed for bvsdoj. you may be wondering why i think its just them jumping on the bandwagon when for all i know, everything they said is true. maybe they did always want an r rating but i really dont have faith in a movie where ive seen three full length trailers for it and i still have no clue what its going to be about. all i know is batman is going to fight superman and apparently thats all i need to know to go watch this movie. it is not. oh, and lex luthor wants them to fight or something and wonder woman is in it. yay. so again, forgive me if i think if they are just looking for any excuse to get peoples butts in the theaters, that dont rely on them making a more interesting movie. how its done right is the upcoming wolverine movie. a movie solely focusing on wolverine, deadpool, or the punisher are comic characters that need the violence to make it work. why? because they are very violent people, or they deal with very violent people. an r rating for these characters makes more sense. which is why its a great thing the next standalone wolverine is getting an r rating. deadpool did open up the possibility for more r rated movies in theaters, which is nice since im getting sick of die hard movies being freakin pg-13! no, wait. im just sick of die hard movies. but this is a double edged sword since studios see it as a positive thing and will exploit the shit out of it, until we're right back where we started. what are your thoughts on deadpool's influence as an r rated movie or r ratings in general?

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit Quick summary: 6 episodes of near meaningless SoL bullshit; 4 episodes of intense melodrama that makes you want to stick forks in your eyeballs; 2 final episodes revolving around even more pointless shit no one cares about because the main plot already went off the rails 6 episodes ago, including a really dumb tacked on romantic subplot, because of course it has to have romance, even if it doesn't fit at all in the story.

  22. There's obviously a culture gap (real life), but I don't feel like I encounter it very much in most VN's. I feel like the typical VN and LN as 'medium genres' both have their own set of tropes/patterns you have to get used to, nether which bears that much resemblance to Japanese culture. What we're used to is this genre, not Japanese culture exactly. There are things which make reference to normal Japanese school/work life, but I don't and can't really identify them all because I'm not intimately familiar with those places. You do pick things up gradually though. Haven't played any VN's where I really noticed collectivism...but one, I might not know what to be looking for, and two, it hasn't really occurred to me to compare social interactions/relations presented in VN's to ones in the western world. I'm pretty individualistic. My idea of culture is...mostly centered around the values/culturally based interpersonal relations it leads to individuals holding, and how one might go about living the life they seek within and around that setting. Ofc, western cultures are probably a fair bit more conducive to this approach, which is a big example why I don't ness. like Japanese culture.

  24. Hello, I am Kazameltis and I'm currently recruiting capable translators for the fan translation of X-change 2 Alternative. For a long time Peach Princess has licensed the X-Change series. Many fans waited and hoped that Peach Princess would do the same with the 5th installment in the series. Unfortunately, they have decided not to go through with the project due to some issues with a few routes containing lolicon. As well as their contract with Crowd finally came to an end and wasn't renewed. So, it has been 5 years and no news of Peach Princess ever starting or announcing a translation. It's time to take initiative and do the project ourselves. We plan to only provide a patch and are not promoting piracy or condemning it. Let me make something clear, anyone who wants to help out can still join even if the positions are filled />/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/> We are currently looking for: 1.Translator(s) If you don't like Nukige, no problem, you can skip those scenes If anyone doesn't like H-scenes you are allowed to skip those parts and go further with the story If anyone wishes to take on this task please PM or contact me at [email protected] ) or go to our IRC channel #XCA2FuwaTeam on rizon.net I am hoping for anyone out there to please answer my call on this important project. 25. Of course that isn't backfiring But the R-rating works so well for Deadpool because he's, well, Deadpool I was more inclining the thing that movie producers will use the R-rating as a more of a scapegoat to degrease the quality of superhero movies, and replace it with gore and such But however, this won't mean that it's a given, as such I said that we'll just have to wait and see

  28. Nooooooooo Chaos;Child lost As for Mahoyo's win I think it's totally fine for TM fans to vote. My only concern is that this was probably the first time half of them came to know about it. Well I was fine with either of Mahoyo or Eustia winning so it's fine. As for Mahoyo vs WA2, I'm rooting for Mahoyo. It's mostly got to do with the fact that I don't have much hype for WA2, well the only thing I do know about it is that it's highly rated on vndb and egs. Well the fight between them is only to see who gets to become a semi-finalist anyway

  32. I thought the same when I started and it was really hard for me too specially the first 3 months or so but once you pick up the pace and you break that "starting curve" it gets easier. The staring curve is what bolverk described as "understanding and feeling the japanese language" that's is something that took me a lot but once you pass that it will get easier to learn. I used http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/grammar for the grammar, there are tons of webs out there but I think that one was the best explaining everything, for vocabulary i still use memrise from time to time and anki if you need any help finding materials or you don't understand something pm

  34. Heyyo, I'm currently writing a story in an effort to develop my writing skills as well as for my own enjoyment. Thinking back, I posted one of my very first story/ideas on this forum a few years ago. I still don't consider myself that great of a writer but would love it if any of you would to take the time to read the prologue and tell me what you think about it(feedback). If you see any cliches please point them out. Genre: Pyschological, Horror, Adventure, Action Synopsis: The time is 2045, with the introduction of many Homeless Prevention Centers or "HPCs", the United States is now on its way to becoming one of the cleanest places on the face of the planet making way for advancements in education as well as large technological advancements in cities that no longer had the homeless. Kai is a 16 year old troubled high school student with a habit of needing to have everything under his control. How will he react when the daily aspects of life he took for naught vanish leaving him in a foreign world in which he has no power? There will be two prologues before the initial first chapters as to introduce the main characters that will be focused on.

    Culture Gap in VNs

I don't see a problem in the culture gap. If it is a problem, then "fix" it with translation notes. If you read it in Japanese, you asked for issues if you don't get the culture. I once read a thread at VNDB regarding this topic. It ended in a flamewar between "keep it Japanese" and "rewrite into match American culture or people will not understand it". The pro Americans claimed ownership of English and any English reading person who wasn't from America was declared as being wrong and insignificant. Unsurprisingly one of those pro-Americans has also made the statement that "(some translator group, I forgot which one) should be banned from translating because they use British English". That guy managed to get himself banned from VNDB though, but not for those statements. Personally I would prefer the culture in a VN to be the culture it was written to match. Rewriting your own concepts into a translation is a big no-no*. This mean a Japanese VN should have Japanese culture and an English VN could easily have English/American culture. It's not the culture itself, which is the issue, but rather the rewrite, which ruins everything it touches. I have yet to see a strait to English VN, which I like as much as those, which were originally Japanese, but I think that's more a writer quality issue than the culture. To be fair, I'm not too happy about the majority of the Japanese ones either. I do really love some though. Otherwise I wouldn't be here * jokes like play on words are hard to translate. This mean the "correctness" of a translation could be accepted as less accurate if it doesn't alter the overall meaning. Translators could even add jokes if it matches the VN, but care would have to be taken when doing something like that as it should never alter the mood/culture/story or anything like that.

  42. I am a huge fan of these types of games the sim-tactical-rpg-base-building-management types. One thing to note not all the games are management per say but rather fall into two or more of the descriptors listed. It seems that many of the games listed both above and here are games that have elements but might not be true management games in some sense. Often times they fall more into the category of tactical strategy rpg but eh maybe that would also be something of interest to you? Some of the best sim-tactical-management games I've played are the following Age of Wonders (series), XCOM (series), Crusader Kings II, Endless (Legend & Space), Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes, Star Wars: Empire At War Gold Edition (and way back I used to play Galactic Conquest), Civilization series, Chroma Squad: Tactical RPG, Tropico series, Anno 2070, Europa Universalis IV, Star Craft series, Blood Bowl (fantasy american football), Galactic Civilizations II, and then a little bit more on the stretching it side of the type of game Valkyria Chronicles (similar to xcom especially on the hardest difficulty but without a huge emphasis on base building you do have to manage units though), Fire Emblem, Darkest Dungeon, and Recettear (fantasy item shop owner). If looking for visual novels that have a management type of feel to them you might want to try Kamidori Alchemy Meister, which is both a strategy rpg, vn, and management game. Some of these titles might be stretching it a bit but most of these games have elements of what you are looking for if nothing else. Hopefully you can find something to check out.

  43. You people are silly, blaming Sekai Project, saying they are getting what they deserve. Simply stupid. It sounds more like a company who simply would not play ball with their publisher. The amount of time some of you spend hating on SP for the smallest of reasons is very petty, and only adds to the reasons I hate the VN community. Entitled, whiny, arrogant, pretentious, belittling, weebs. Keep in mind that this KS was done before people started crying over Sekai Project using Kickstarter. Call me a shill if you want, report this post if you want. The people in this thread hating on SP are just plain dumb. Could SP have avoided this? Who knows? None of us know what goes on with the contracts and licensing talks. For all we know, maybe Sekai Project is the absolute evil some of you act like they are. Or, they could be doing thins the way they work and letting the market decide if it will keep working. After Root Double, I'm pretty sure the number of Kickstarters is going to go down, because people don't want to keep doing that (especially after 3 burns now basically). But, none of us actually know what goes on with them, so at this point, its criticism without any evidence or facts to back you up. Just what you see on the surface. Anyway, as a backer who has the VN, its a shame, because the VN isn't all that bad. I am about halfway through it or so, and I'll still try to push a review out.

I'm hoping the price point won't be super high (I don't think they mentioned the price point at any time but if anyone could prove me wrong, go for it). Also hoping they have the DRM-free version available for purchase for non-kickstarter backers as well. If @eeenseok ever wants to come back to the site and answer questions, that'd be great!

  46. This thread is heading the religion/politics-centric territory and that always ends up like shit hitting the fan and splattering everyone. All I can say is absolutely no entity/belief/person should dictate anyone what to fucking do and people need to stop pointing out that what they can or cannot do is caused by religion or ethics. YOU HAVE CONTROL, not somebody's puppet. Exercise it as long as it's within the law and doesn't lock you up in jail for it. I'm all for freedom, freedom, and more freedom. Did I say freedom? No? Unhack 2

Hello everyone! Hope you are doing well . Unhack 2’s script has gone through several rounds of revisions, and after receiving player feedback, I have decided the story needs further editing. I have passed the stage where I desperately try to please everyone, but in this case, almost everyone has raised the same issues, so I have to address them. Previous games like Cursed Sight and Without Within are ultimately about the relationships between people. I am used to handling that. The link between human and AI, however, provides a new challenge. Unhack 2 is longer and more complex than the first game, which means more opportunities for mistakes as well, and I have definitely made plenty. I will allocate an extra month or so to revisit the story several more times. Nobody likes delays, especially not the person who has been staring at this script for the past six months, but I am already thinking of solutions to the problems raised by readers, and the potential excites me. Rather than bragging about how awesome this game is going to be, once in a while, I want to share my struggles and failures with you. Not for long, though. I am heading back to work, so please look forward to the result. Thank you!
