  1. We're now back on Kickstarter! Try our updated demo, tell us what you think, and consider giving some money to our new Kickstarter if you liked it Chronotopia: Second Skin is a dark rewriting of the fairytale Donkeyskin: princess Kionna lives a peaceful existence in her castle, enjoying her days with her best friend and confidant, Nahima. That is until her father, gone mad since the death of his beloved, decides he should wed the princess instead. Kionna has to find a way to escape from this fate, but how? She doesn’t know it yet, but it’s the beginning of a long nightmare that will take her to the edge of madness. Inspired by a wide range of influences (literature, anime, videogames), Chronotopia is a unique and more mature take on a forgotten fairytale that includes many twists and choices that affect the ending: the princess can either escape with her servant, become a fairy, or die a horrible death. Multiple times. It’s up to you to save …or doom her. A unique take on a forgotten fairytale with many twists Branching story with around 10 endings and 30 hours of playtime An optional archives system to learn more about folklore Two GxG (Nahima and the Fairy) and one GxB (the "Prince") romances possible! 5. Well sharin no kuni is a VN with linear plot, you can have different endings and some things will change here and there depending on your choices (most of the time H-scenes ) but overall it's an straight line/path story. I love those types of VNs (and kinetic!) because the story is most of the time more coherent and better developed rather than when you have 6 girls and the main character suffers from dissociative identity disorder, he acts in some way with girl A and total different with girl B and so on, still him being the same fucking person (this doesnt happen in all vns but in most of them it does..) or some girls you just know that they are filler just to add extra hours because their routes are so bland and cliched...

  6. http://fuwanovel.net/reviews/2016/07/22/the-labyrinth-of-grisaia/ Hay guys! After way too much delay, I finally got this one out the door. Special thanks to flutterz as always for editing it. I snuck that paragraph on the nature of the cut Steam version at the last minute because it seems like there are still a lot of questions swirling around that aspect. In short: The steam version definitely feels like a complete game.

  8. It's my first time posting in the community forum threads so an introduction seemed appropriate. (◍>◡<◍) Hi! My name is Mayline (pronounced like Meiling) and I recently graduated from college with a major in Psychology. I love almost anything involving strawberries and shoujo with magical and/or hard-working, determined girls. My favorite shoujo series include Akagami no Shirayuki-hime, Cardcaptor Sakura, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, Kimi ni Todoke, Ouran High School Host Club, Sailor Moon, Special A, and Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun. I especially love the tokidoki character, Stellina the Unicorno! Every now and then, I enjoy making paper stars. I also love to play video games, mainly role-playing (e.g. The Legend of Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, Okami, and Odin Sphere)! The absolute favorite thing in the world to me however is being helpful to others, but also to myself first and foremost! That`s about it, so nice to meet you! (*≧∀≦*)/ I look forward to being a member of the Fuwanovel Forums community. Important Note: While I majored in Psychology, that doesn't mean I remember everything and am pursuing a career in the field. I'm just saying. XD

    Da Capo 3 question

The situation is as follows: Da Capo is bad. Painfully so. General consensus says that Kotori is the only worthwhile route in it (excluding D.C.P.C and Nosebleed being a Miharu fanboy) Da Capo 2 is actually really solid. The only drop is Koko's route, because it's utter trash, but everything else is at least okay. So most people recommend just reading D.C 2 right away, but I enjoyed it a lot more after suffering through one route of Da Capo 1, because there are quite a few tie-ins between the two titles. - - - - - - - - - - Texas Advdice: Read the improved version of Kotori's route from the Kotori Fandisk and afterwards, go to Da Capo 2. That's the best of both worlds and more than enough to understand everything.

  11. I had a similar first impression about the... exaggerated flamboyance of the new cast and setting. DR was always a bit wacky in its own right, but DR2 takes it to a whole 'nother level. They eventually grew on me though, to the point I considered DR2 > DR1. We'll see how it goes for you though BTW, Who's best girl so far for ya? ~~ Rin has the potential to be my most favorite VN tsun tsun of all time; if you think about it, she's a glorified Louise: is a mage, has a waaay better familiar, sassier, and is in an appropriate setting/environment for having such traits... Too bad she doesn't have pink hair I especially enjoyed her last minute pep talk in Fate's route (though, pls don't give me any more heart attacks ._.)

  12. Hello there, I'm Helia/Helianthus and, as you would probably guess, I'm a big fan of visual novel (and anime) I have rather dififcult tastes though: what I like the most is deep, psychological themes, possibly depressing stuff. That's why some of my favorites are Saya no Uta, Yume Miru Kusuri, Narcissu, Kara no Shoujo and the Infinity series. Especially Remember11 which is very well written. Well, except for the ending (of lack thereof). Needless to say, I'm one of the people waiting for SubaHibi TL since forever Ah and I'm very fond of English visual novel in general. I'm also making my own under the Träumendes Mädchen team since more than four years now. We were hobbyist for a while but we recently decided to make a bold move and become a real company. So I'll be sharing our first commercial project soon if you don't mind. Beware though, we do make pretty unique stuff...

  16. Hello, The new demo is up! Thanks to your support during and after Kickstarter campaign, I could hire two graphic designers to help me improve things I also revised the story, so it's a bit different now. I hope you'll like the changes! As always, I'm looking forward to your honest feedback on the game. I was able to improve so many things because you pointed out my mistakes. I couldn't be more grateful ^__^ Sentimental Trickster is a story of someone who wants to change. With your choices (and there's A LOT, e.g. THIS GRAPH shows just one route), you can help him get close to people, or make his life miserable. You can learn more about the game and DOWNLOAD the new demo here: And here are some new screenshots from the game itself: Please, play the new demo and let me know what you think!

  17. If you don't know how Sharin's route style it's basically set where the main plot and character development of every heroine is always canon no matter which route you take (outside bad endings of course). This is due to a chapter system. The only scenes that are different are H scenes you get during / after a route and some ending scenes for the couple. One thing that bugs me from time to time is how some heroines' (and even males/MCs) development is reset in other routes, especially if there are VNs with 'true' routes. There are some VNs where technically all the development happens but not in the same timeline/universe (won't say due to spoilers) but I'm not talking about VNs that do this in a convoluted way. Whether it's a chapter system or just some way for all major planned heroines/characters to get development in one story but still getting the option to choose who you end up would be nice to me. Consistency is the main key. I guess the only flaws of this system I could think of are: You're forced to go through the development of characters you don't care about. This could cause people to not like the VN as much especially if they love the typical route system. Some may argue you might as well just make this a linear/kinetic visual novel if you do it this way and not even worry about getting with different girls? Anyways, while I'm not sure if I'd want this to be the standard I'd like for more visual novels to try this method more even if it's not the popular method. What do you guys think? Would you want this method to be tried more or do you prefer the typical route system?

  18. How coincidental; neither did I*. ... Pardon me, I may be confused. When I stated that developed and characterised characters alone are not my particular cup of tea, you sarcastically brought the fact I enjoyed ReLife into the picture. I thought you were, then, pointing out that I do, regardless of what I may claim, enjoy shows with developed characters, which is true. If that is not what you intended to convey, then I'll need you to be clearer. How does my enjoying ReLife in any way correlate to my statements of not watching anime for the character development? As for my part, I can easily enjoy any such anime. Envy me, elitist! *Until just now, elitist.

  19. Yes, much easier. Because I'm not picky enough to care about things like that. I'll shake my finely shaped butt in front of you, who won't play this, along with the others. Chiharu has a route in the Fandisc/ReVive part, right? I'm almost done with Akane...I think. I want to see what is up with her and what goes on in that (perverted) head of hers.

    What are you playing?

Well then i really enjoyed the story , even some plot twist i could predict would happen , the write somehow was still able to surprise me , i love the art , it looked like a misture of the italian renaissance art (http://italianrenaissanceresources.com/wp-content/themes/nga/images/home-unit-1.jpg) with your average anime style art , the ost was...,well it was so good that i cant even begin to describe so instead i just put some of my favorites ones here ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeOUQYNoOPI&index=10&list=PL1cFLEd7jERztNiN43JVOSP_kEzJaFlWn , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATMCU3i6-1c&index=23&list=PL1cFLEd7jERztNiN43JVOSP_kEzJaFlWn , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phboVbQawV4&list=PL1cFLEd7jERztNiN43JVOSP_kEzJaFlWn&index=29 ) , well as you can see i almost liked everything there was to like , the only problem was that rarely i would find some grammar errors in the text , that was the only reason i did not give it a 10/10 ps: i do not have a VNDB account , the reason is that i never believe it would be most of use to me , since i would only have one to be able to know all the visual novels that i read , but since i write all the visual novels that i read in a notebook that i have , i never had that problem. Thank you for reading this.

  23. Glad you liked YMK. I found the game probably half a decade ago when I was searching for VNs with lots of choices, and the multiple routes got me playing. I like that the mature subjects it dealt with didn't really feel forced upon you and merely exist as part of the world you're in. Some games involving these topics can get quite preachy, but this one thankfully doesn't sacrifice character development for a public service announcement. One interesting thing to note is that if you decide to explore the other routes, it informs you about the fate of the heroine you ignore, leaving a rather sour taste because of how grim it can be (almost reminds me of Kanon, but even Kanon doesn't tell you directly in your face that your failure to save the girl result in her tragedy). To be honest, I have mixed feelings about Aeka's route ending. It felt so satisfying to see, but at the same time, it did also feel kinda crude and over-the-top (reminds me a little bit of Bible Black), especially when the MC and Aeka get a happy end after what they've done. lol The best gurl for me has to be Nekoko. She's so cute, both her Neko persona and her 'final form' at the ending. Her bad end was so disturbing IMO, even more than Aeka's. After I finish reading this one, I felt a tinge of melancholy because it was over. I never felt this way about other VNs ever. It's probably due to how depressing and bittersweet the mood of the entire story can be. Also, VA-11 HALL-A. I haven't got to that game yet even though I bought it recently. Hope you enjoy that one as well. It looks like quite an interesting cyberpunk adventure from what I see.

  24. Yume Miru Kusuri. After the marvelous Steins;Gate, I didn't know what to expect from an eroge (I bought YMK on JAST USA because its cover is awesome ). But to my great surprise, I discovered an adult game with (many) good H-scenes, lovely art...and three excellent routes (with serious and very interesting topics like bullying, drug or fear of the future/present). But my latest surprise was VA-11 HALL-A

  28. I know that a lot of VN fans get pissy whenever they're told that VNs are not games, like it's an insult upon their honor. Personally, I couldn't care less, seeing as I'm not a hardcore VN fan myself. Personally though, I don't treat most of them as games. I know some VNs have gameplay in them, but I grew up with the notion that a game is something you could play, not the archaic definition of "something that provides amusement". Considering that the reading and clicking part of VNs are what VNs are about, and VNDB openly dismisses any titles without either of those elements (Madoka Magica PSP is not a VN according to them), I don't see why the selective amount of VNs with gameplay in them would make up the meaning of what a visual novel is. In other words, if a visual novel that sacrifices the VN elements for gameplay isn't a visual novel anymore according to VNDB, then why would a game that sacrifices gameplay for visual novel elements be considered a game? It's the same logic. In short, visual novels are not games, according to VNDB - or at the very least, VNs that lack gameplay shouldn't be considered games by gaming websites, just like how VNDB doesn't consider VNs without VN elements to be VNs, even when they obviously look like VNs in parts (Madoka PSP and Digimon Adventure PSP). And even if we go by that other definition about how games are things that provide amusement, I don't gain much amusement from reading (I hate books with no pictures), so that definition wouldn't fly for me anyway. In the end, it all comes down to semantics and which definition you prefer to use. It's an exhausting conversation with no point to it except to defend your ego, to prove that you're in the right and the other guy who disagrees with you is wrong. I think the part about all this that I'm more bothered by isn't technically whether if I should call VNs a "game" or not, but whether if I am playing a VN or reading it. To me, saying that I'm 'playing' a visual novel makes no sense to me because the syntax of that word used in this context just feels inappropriate. Again, this goes back to my familiarity with the more modern usage of the word, "play", as opposed to "engage in activity for enjoyment and recreation rather than a serious or practical purpose." Personally, regardless of what the dictionary says, a good game has to be more than just clicking and reading. So even if you call VNs games, they aren't very good games to me, albeit being good reading materials. Unless I actively have a big role in the storytelling through the selection of dialogue choices, I don't consider myself as 'playing' anything, merely being an observer to a story unfolding. I might as well be reading a book. And you wouldn't say, "I'm playing Neil Gaiman's American Gods", would you?

  32. While I really enjoyed Sharin and it's FD I was never a fan of the way they did the routes, interesting as it may be I still couldn't find it in myself to like it more than the regular way in which most vn's do their routes. It's linear nature also doesn't help it, I like the feeling I get when I'm playing a different story in each route.

  33. You don't need logic to hate. I can hate on SP whenever I want, wherever I want. You are free to white knight them too if you want. I just don't agree with how they treat their veteran fanbase. No facts or convincing will ever make me love/appreciate what they do. It's more fruitful to learn Japanese than spamming Sekai's twitter to plead them of translating something. Your voice falls on deaf ears.
