I saw everything!! Here is what happened: First Mitch said "Wooow", then bigfat went "kapaauuhh", after that a lot of "KaBOOM" and "Kaplaaaaash", finally completely silence, at that point I was a little afraid of what might happen but then I heard a "glup glup glup" and everything was fine again. PS: voted, funny thing is that the sakura games are banned from twitch xD I didn't know that.

for those who may not know what im going on about, the game yandere simulator was banned on twitch for seemingly no reason. the developer is one guy and he has been trying to find the reasoning for the ban on his game to no avail. it seems there isnt much of a reason as to why it is banned on twitch with games with content that would be considered more controversial than all the content in yandere simulator. this video can further explain the troubles he has faced. if you think that the ban was uncalled for and should be at least looked at further, please sign this petition to get it unbanned. spread it as much as you can if you think this game deserves it! https://www.change.org/p/twitch-tv-unban-yandere-simulator-from-twitch?recruiter=669550847&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink

Before I start reading, I will change myself in a true Nihonjin. 1. I put on my yukata 2. I swing 10 times with my katana, which is made from true superior true nippon steel. 3. I hug my waifu(dakimakura) and make out with her. 4. I start up the VN 5. at this point I'm a full native and can easily read any VN.

I think the point the dev was trying to make with the video was that he can't do anything if Twitch won't talk to him. Maybe everything is wrong with the game, maybe it's just some elements, but the dev is willing to work with Twitch to fix whatever issues they have with the game so it can be streamed, he wants the game to suit Twitch's needs, so the issue here is that Twitch won't talk to him about it. Some of his comparisons with other games are, well, shit (because context matters). I think it's clear the issue with Yandere Simulator is the combination of all these elements and the focus the game puts on them, not just one or two single "controversial" elements (hence why the comparisons really didn't serve much purpose anyway). Lastly, Twitch wants money. Him saying it's anything but money is silly. Anime games, especially ones with controversial elements like Yandere Simulator, are likely not something Twitch wants on their platform (they have to be ad-friendly after all). Plus, the game has not proven itself to be big enough for Twitch to "look away" and let it be on its platform. Yes, GTA 5 and God of War are pretty explicit games, but they're big household names, so of course Twitch will let super popular games like that be streamed. Yandere Simulator has not proven itself to be this type of game (youtube views/subs mean jackshit to Twitch), so for now it's going to be lumped with the other "creepy weeb games". But regardless of whether the game is controversial or not, I think Twitch is in the wrong for not talking to the dev. Even if it was just to say they can not stream his game, even if it was just to say the entire premise of the game is something they don't like, I believe the dev has the right to an answer from Twitch, who proudly talk about how they support game devs and want them to be successful.

If you want to read Japanese then you have to study Japanese to some extent. Like you mentioned, using a machine translator is no fun, so yeah... studying is basically the only way. However, you don't need to learn the language to a fluent level in order to simply read a visual novel. Reading is simply for your own entertainment, and not for someone else's benifit, so that means you have the ability to start reading at any proficency level. (You are not translating this for anyone; you are simply reading a piece of literature because you want to. This means you decide when you start reading, as it won't have a negative effect on anyone, except perhaps yourself.) Of course it is not easy reading a book in a language you hardly know, so like you said there will be tons of times you simply don't know for sure what you read. But, using Japanese VNs and a program like Chiitrans you can slowly but surely start to learn from reading. (Check out this thread for a guide on how to set up Chiitrans.) If you want to read Japanese VNs, you should first master the kana, then move over to studying grammar like a lunatic. Kanji knowledge is not that important if all you will use the language for is reading at a basic level. Through the use of dictionary lookups and furigana combined with a big vocabulary, you can kind of skip the kanji most of the time. (In your case, Chinese knowledge will also help, as certain kanji retain their reading/meanings from Chinese.) Basically, start studying and read as you do. That way you will slowly but surely start learning, and reading will become easier. If you are currently at the point where simply reading a word like あなた is taking a long time, you have a while to go. But, that still doesn't mean you can't get there.

I am not sure if this is the right forum to post this, but I want to spread this information before the upload expires. Dark Eye Translations has been working on Kurukuru Fanatic and announced today to cancel further work on the title. But he uploaded his progress so far here: According to his information the title has been completely translated and he was in the stage of editing. (With editing about 10% done.) With zero experience in VN translations it looks like there are still some files (6 out of 364) that need translation, but still it would be sad to see this project die so close to the finishing line. Maybe trough increased exposure this project can find someone to still complete it.

I'll play the game and if I like it, I 'll most likely translate the 6 scripts.

Christ. Even twitch knows they're shit. Signed, anyway - even if he doesn't get anything done about the ban, he at least should have something of an explanation, and as slightly overwrought as the video was he got his point across

I doubt the petition itself will be what might revoke twitch's mistake but it's a nice idea nontheless and it helps spread the issue and video in question. Good work Mitchy.

This petition is unlikely to do anything. The video already has 1.5 million views despite being posted today. It has gone viral and there is a large amount of backlash being aimed at Twitch. They are certainly now more acutely aware of the problem than they have ever been, and a petition with a thousand or two signatures won't change the way they look at it, in the face of millions of people watching and becoming incensed over a youtube video. This is like the equivalent of a single dude taking potshots at the German army with a bb gun during the Battle of the Bulge. You're doing good enough work by spreading the video around and discussing its main talking points, increasing awareness of the problem. That is what will actually inspire change. It's probably best not to focus too much on the petition specifically, put your attention to where it will do the most good if you want to do anything about this.

While I'm not 100% convinced that Yandere Sim has an absolute right to be on twitch, with characters that could be precieved as being under 18 killing and kidnapping each other, I do despise the type of reaction twitch seems to be giving Yanderedev. It is simply bizarre that no reason is being given to the banning of of the game.

So I finished Dracu-Riot! now, or to be more precise Rio's and Miu's routes. Originally, I planned to at least play Nicola's and maybe even Elina's routes too, but decided against it at the end. Dracu Riot has a great prologue, a funny and entertaining common route, but somehow after that, as soon as the individual routes start, it stops being good. And there are several reasons for that. First, I had the impression that they pretty much run out of budget when they finished the common route since almost nothing new was drawn anymore except for the H-scenes. You can count the number of event CG's for each route more or less on one hand and even major characters aren't drawn anymore. I appreciate Yuzusoft's attempt to add an interesting story, but it's not particularly convincing if they abbandon it half-way and don't even give a rats-ass about it anymore. They kept a good balance until the common route ends, but after that... ugh! The second major problem is that the romance scenes and the H-scenes in particular are akward at best and cringeworthy at worst. Yuzusoft's biggest strength is the comedic interaction between the characters, but the actual routes focus more on rather unconvincing romance scenes and a half assed story instead of that. It was a real chore to go through it. Though partly that's also a general problem of comedy VN's. Good romance requires a certain amount intensity and sincerity, which comedy VN's usually lack. The VN is also a bit too 'light' for a vampire VN. The characters are far too over-cutified for vampires and the whole theme is more about comedic detective work than vampires anyway. Dracu-Riot might be a good comedy VN, but it's certainly not a good vampire VN. And considering how the overall quality drops in the individual routes, I would also call the story barebones at best. That's not to say they wouldn't have had have some funny ideas. I'm still awed that one of Dracu-Riot's 'greatest' vampire strengths is that they can drink booze with 100% alcohol without dying. On the other hand, where's the fun if you don't even get drunk from it... Overall, it was still a solid read thanks to the great start, the entertaining common route, the good comedy and not to forget, Yuzusoft's great sprite dynamics which are almost unrivaled in the business. But yeah, two routes were enough for me. Heroine rankings: Miu > Nicola > Elina > Mera > Rio Overall rating: 7 / 10

Your brain is translating Japanese to english, he is not really reading in Japanese. This is typically what occur when i start learn a new language, but with the time reading and learning more, he will get used to the language and you will start "thinking" in Japanese when you read a vn. And don't use google translate, prefer use a dictionary, google translate will make you learn broken Japanese. There some people that use some machine assisted reading, i think that if you are starting this is a good way to read.

All this praise for Moribito, I couldn't help myself so I went out and watched it myself since I'm a sucker for feel good anime, and the combination of action and feel good is very rare. I thoroughly enjoyed it and watched it over only 3 nights. There was something stiff about the facial expressions in the animation which was a little awkward, but otherwise it looked great too. As MP said, I quite liked the lack of urgency; it concentrated on character interactions and storytelling without needing to ram action down your throat. I kept expecting a surprise attack, or someone to jump out of the shadows, or some convenient misunderstanding, or missing information contrivances, or some other standard trope, and yet it never once did that which was surprising in itself and actually refreshing. Things did tie in very neatly in ways that became apparent earlier on so it was never particularly surprising where the story went, but that made the execution no less pleasing. 8/10

Agreed, it was very good and had a most excellent ending to top it off.

I don't get it. Was really nothing wrong with Chisato herself during her route. She was actually quite pleasant, if you look past the drama in her route.
