  2. Granted, I don't have much experience with VNs, but Steins;Gate is one I really like. It looks fantastic (especially on a big screen) and it also looks like nothing else I've seen. The "dots" for example, really pop and add character to the art. I also really like the style of the backgrounds, though I don't know how to describe it. It seems kind of run-down in a lot of places, but not in a "neglected" or "broken" way - more in a "lived in" type of way.

  7. So everyone has different styles and tastes so what VN's art style (environments, characters or just in general) stands out the most as a favourite for you guys? For me character wise and CG pieces Winged Cloud's primary artist Wanaca has a really unique art style that seems both modernly cutesy yet ahead of the norm it's just a same most Winged Cloud VN's are so short and to the point so she can't really show off the fullest of her skills. For Reference of some of her work I'll leave some of her Safe for work pieces: Another stand out for me is Frontwing's artists mainly Watanabe Akio's more serious, atmospheric and realistic style. And for Reference: So those are my main ones. Obviously that's not all of them as I've flooded this post enough. So what are yours?

  8. BN4H-62NN-JQMT Forgot that I had this laying around until today. Letting it expire seems like a waste, so I decided to give it to one of you fuckers. First come, only one served.

  10. My absolute favorite? Sayori, without a doubt. That woman is probably closest to what humans consider perfect drawing. It also was a fun trip to follow her development on those skills ever since the first nekopara concept art came out, way before the actual release of volume 1 (back then, she most likely had a goth phase, which was spilling into her art) I just wish we got more than just Nekopara from her in the west. I heard Koikuma is super good. In terms of art that intrigues me, I have to give a shout out to Ray-kbys. Not only are his subjects really bizarre most of the time, but he also has a really fascinating way of drawing eyes, colors, shades and is integrating visible emotions into the motives. Fans theorize that Ray might actually just be Cthulhu's pen name for girl drawings. Who knows. I have to mention though, that I also follow both of them for non-game art as well. If I had to pick artists strictly from a Visual Novel basis, the Yuzusoft gang (Kobuichi, Muririn and Komowata for the SDs) do good work (and they are actually getting better with every game). An urgently necessary shout out goes out to all the background artists who rarely get their work praised. I wholeheartedly thank them for providing us with fantastic scenery, since I rarely come across bad backgrounds in VNs. Even if the sprites look terrible/outdated, backgrounds usually salvageable.

  11. I thought it was a Marine LePen speech, a shitton of words she uses are here. Even the structure of it.

  12. It's okay, you don't need to try so hard to convince yourself that you like it; accept that it really is shit.

  13. It's a pretty minimal plot point that gets somewhat "spoiled" in other routes. If you really don't want to know outside Touko's own route, you should do hers first. I believe Akane's route touches on said plot point a little, and so if the element of surprise is super important to you, Touko before Akane is probably a good idea.

  16. Grisaia is a mix between SoL comedy (which is quite masterful) and shifts gears into serious drama (which it still nails more often than not). Majikoi at it's core, is a comedy and also a parodic celebration of everything anime; It Lampshades tropes, points out it's own absurdities and breaks the fourth wall frequently for entertainment. Since this thread is asking purely for preference, I go with Majikoi simply because I enjoy Comedies more than Drama. I have to note though, that the Majikoi series stopped/slowed the parody elements down with S, A, the anime and whatever how many spin-offs there were. In the original Majikoi, the fighting stuff wasn't actually all that important to the tone, it just served as a vehicle to push the script (speaking; characters and comedy) along. Majikoi 1 wouldn't feel any different if you replaced the martial arts setting with sports, music or even a trading card game. With S, the series started to take the fighting seriously , which is kind of lost me. I don't harbor as high of an opinion towards S and A because of that (and other, more objective factors). Also can't talk for the other two Grisaia games. One isn't translated yet and the other one I haven't finished (and probably won't anytime soon), due to how little the actual plot of Grisaia interests me personally. The incredibly well received anime adaptation reveals that Hermit Crabs are in fact the absolute and true ending to the series.

  17. Both were great. Majikoi had a fun, giant cast of characters whom were all so fun yet insane. Chris is probably the most adorable thing in the world during her route, right there with Wanko. Fights were definitely fun so long as Momoyo wasn't involved (except in one or two cases) and I don't recall actually disliking any one character, only liking others a bit more. Kuki Hideo and his theme are a godsend. Only problem Majikoi has is that most routes that aren't for the main heroines don't really amount to anything but H-scenes. I was really hoping for a better Kokoro route. :C Grisaia on the other hand... I enjoy Yamato as a protagonist quite a bit. But Yuuji is on another level. A lot of the better comedy in Grisaia in my opinion is just when you're listening to his thoughts. His pondering about beans is the first thing that comes to mind. While not as big a cast as Majikoi, I didn't dislike any heroines at all. Yumiko was my least favorite, but she wasn't bad. The only problem was that some of the routes weren't so great. Sachi's in particular. But I understand that it is important to look both ways when crossing a road so I don't mind they used her route as a PSA. While the pacing did die down quite a bit, I preferred Amane's the most. I prefer Amane the most so maybe that's why? I would say that Grisaia is my preferred, but only by a little. Again, both were great.

  18. Then I would definitely say Amane from Grisaia. The Rei route from Snow Sakura is along those lines as well. Albeit it's an older VN. I'm assuming you've played Majikoi because there is a bevvy of fits for you there. Fate Stay/Night is built on strong-willed female leads. Although how the VN is assembled is a bit different than your average VN. All i can think of atm. Best of luck.

  19. I'll be honest the h-scene content of pee is not my thing. I mainly backed this to support the company's well run kickstarter and them being new...hoping the game is still enjoyable if I fast forward through the pee scenes though.

  20. Her style reminds me of Key, is that related? I still see a lot of fan devotion to some characters, but nowadays we have so many stories coming every month that it is almost impossible just to focus in one character. Usually I only get really attached to long-term anime characters, such as Pokémon's Ash's companions or book characters. These last are better because I can picture my best image of it while reading, so I will always fall in love for them.

  24. Between last night and tonight, I finished both Rimu's route (I only had like five minutes left in it, it turned out) and Yayoi's route. Rimu's ending was kinda sweet, I guess, but all in all a pretty disappointing route, with rather forced, trivial drama. Yayoi's, on the other hand, was actually good, if short, and it had one CG near the end (not in the H scene, you pervs, before that) that I thought was awesome. Deardrops was worth playing for that CG alone, but now it's time for me to move on to the more substantial routes! I'm pleased to say that I'm really looking forward to Kanade's. It took her a while to win me over, but I have a feeling she's going to kick all kinds of ass. I'm actually more excited for her than for Riho, at this point.
