  1. Not sure if this counts, but I have a funny story about my Wii. So I wanted to play Wario World on my Wii 'cause I didn't have my Gamecube with me, and I couldn't get the game to work, no matter how many times I blew on it in case of dust. So I thought the disk might be too scratched to play and looked up methods to remedy it slightly, I did that for about 10 minutes before going downstairs and getting a washcloth and toothpaste. I put a good amount of toothpaste on the disk and used the washcloth to lightly scrub it to get ri of the scratches, I cleaned it with the damp washcloth and tried again. It still didn't work, so I tried putting the Wii in different positions to make it work and it still failed. Do you wanna know what the problem was?

I've lucked out. All stuff I've been meaning to buy. I've got a few repeats, however. I do like Sunrider. It's super duper weeb, though. Sheesh. Might as well go 'Give me free stuff, peasants!'. Incidentally, I might have some of which you desire here.

  4. I almost always turn the voices off. I like to read quickly and with voices off I can progress text boxes without having to wait for the voices to finish speaking, because if voices are on and you don't wait for the voices to finish you end up with this sort of scenario:

Ok, I have KARAKARA, Fault one, and all the non-VNs (Huniepop, HunieCam Studio, Machina of the Planet Tree -Planet Ruler-, RaidersSphere4th , A Magical High School Girl) to give away. PM me, you greedy buggers. EDIT: Still a KARAKARA and Fault waiting for a new home! Cold, alone, hungry! Don't leave them hanging.

  8. My Steam account was about games once... Now it's just a testament to my fall into extreme weebness. I share it with my brother, who mostly just plays some online games once in a while, but I don't think he ever checks out our user page. Otherwise, he would call for an exorcist by now.

  9. I'd say I have a pretty clearly defined opinion about voice acting; If it's actually good, it can add quite a lot to the experience. If it's anything less than good, or if it's too inconsistent, such as if side characters pop up much at all but are unvoiced (unvoiced protag is fine), it tends to detract (and distract) from the experience more than it adds. Of course, while I don't know if I can honestly name any cases where a VN which had no voice acting would suffer from somehow gaining good voice acting, or any cases of VNs with good voice acting that would improve in the absense of voice acting anyways, but it's worth noting that voice acting is often expensive for companies who make any sort of game at all. As such, it's quite possible that a company could end up either funding the creation of any other parts of a game less due to including voice acting, especially if they realize they underestimated the cost of voice acting after they've already commited too much money to its inclusion. This is particularly likely for small/indie/new companies, who are also the ones who are hit hardest by making this mistake. With that in mind, I would say that VNs made by a big company that has less to worry about with regards to the risks of including voice acting benefit the most from it; There are limits to how much any one part of a VN can benefit from additional funds, due to things like artists/writers not being physically capable of producing more than a certain amount of material in a given amount of time no matter how much they're payed, and a big company is far more likely to actually run into those limits. Plus, they'll be more likely to actually be able to pay for good voice actors. Meanwhile, VNs made by small/indie/new companies not only don't have as much to gain from voice acting (there's more risk of them not being able to get good enough voice actors for voice acting to actually be a good thing for the VN), but they also risk making other parts of the VN worse; Whether that be due to mistakes made when determining how much they should spend on voice acting leading to other parts of the game needing to be rushed to make the game profitable, or due to intentional planning which nonetheless leads to less resources (funds/possibly time due to available funds) being commited to other parts of the VN. Because of this, VNs made by these companies may even be said to indirectly benefit from not including voice acting.

  13. My super-duper high-end gaming PC (which my brother left me after moving out from our house - not something I would ever buy myself), once managed to go into sleep mode and never wake up, being stuck in that blinking-diode state no matter what I did with it. It was super weird. Thankfully, it did that impressive "play dead" trick a week before its warranty ended, so I just barely managed to get it fixed for free. From what I understood, they had to flash the bios to get it working again. Sadly, I'm not tech-savy, so I can't add much more to this topic.

  14. Actually, yeah, probably. I don't know, it simply didn't have anything that could hook me. The horror isn't particularly scary. The characters are pretty bland. Ideas about ghosts could hook me potentially, if they were better developed, but so far they weren't really that interesting. Well, maybe I'm too harsh with my ratings, but I can't really give it anything above 4/10, and I feel like even that is too high.

  15. Wow, super agree. I keep forgeting that I read this already, it really shows how much of an impact it left on me. It's not bad in the least, I actually like these type of horror works, but I don't know. It just didn't worked for me. Maybe because it was over before I started caring?

A lot of absolute trash there, but I'll take it just for Karakara 2 and the Sunrider games. I might have a lot of codes to give away after this... EDIT: People were saying that SakuSaku translation is rather shit, right?

  18. Tried reading Phenomeno. Well, it's a nice idea, but it didn't really impress me very much, to be honest. I kind of find it surprising how highly rated it is, but, well, maybe this type of horror doesn't work on me very well anymore. Or maybe I shouldn't read this type of VNs when I'm tired. Though I might still try reading the LN at some point.

  19. Its been ages since i last posted a desktop, thought i might just as well do it for all times sakes :p, this is my current setup: Primary Display: Secondary Display: Phone Homescreen: Desktop has an Usamimi theme due to the influence Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou (From Commonplace to World's Strongest) Light Novel has over me, leaving aside how awesome it is, there's an usamimi demi-human there who is just way to adorable >.< ... As for my phone homescreen its due to me playing like crazy over the pass few days Super Robot Taisen OG Saga Endless Frontier on my V2Viper S using the Drastic NDS Emulator, i really love this game!

  22. Not a big fan of that style, to be honest. I too like the text box to be fixed in place at the bottom of the screen. NVL can be pretty cool at times, though. I enjoy reading LNs etc in Japanese, since you read in the standard Japanese book style, from top to bottom. I haven't found too many VNs that does this. KKK does, (even in the menus,) but uhh, not really ready to read that yet, lol. The prologue alone gave me a headache.

  24. Imma gonna bump this thread with new favorites I've found since... * Sakaguchi Daisuke (Sunohara Youhei from CLANNAD). Sunohara's unmanly screams are EPIC! * Tezuka Ryouko (Coconut from Nekopara). She sounds so sweet, especially her giggles... * Maihara Yume (Lucy from Lucy, the eternity she wished for). The whole reason I necro'd this thread. Her voice is so .... I don't even have words. And I'm astonished she's only voiced this one character...

    What are you playing?

Well done my friend you are now accepted among the ranks of the elite Twenty five times Jesus Christ Yeah I really loved Tsugumi as a character and I think a big part of it was the mystery behind her. Plus, I thought the romance was very sweet even if it was rather brief. You definitely learn more about her in the other routes so don't worry about that. I hope you don't let the chicken sandwiches get to you.

  26. Aquaplus localized some of their Utawarerumono games last year so they're definitely not anti-west. I just think that their license are pretty highly priced. Even if somebody went and started a TL for it, it's nowhere near the quality White Album 2 deserves, so it's a massive waste of time overall.

  36. Update: Shortly after this post, my "m" key broke, which means that if I want to type "m", I copy and paste the letter from somewhere, same for its capitalization. This incidentally means that I use Windows' On-Screen Keyboard to type M, as that's the easiest way.

  37. Back when Fuwanovel was really active back in 2013, 2014 and 2015; we had topics like this all the time. Like 5+ a day sometimes, lol. Honestly I miss those days of Fuwa. It really shows how much the forums have slowed down that we only get like 1 of these threads a day. But I'm glad that people are trying to keep the forums a live. Its kind of like keeping a fire alive. And damn, the fire of fuwa used to be raging! But yeah, one of the problems I had when the forums was that active was that I spent a lot more time talking about VNs then actually reading them, lol.

  38. This isn't anything new - a bunch of studios experimented with such ways of storytelling. LittleWitch was the most notable company - they developed their own FFD (Floating Frame Director) engine to handle such text bubbles and used them in their games since 2002. Only when you don't know how to handle their engines. Most games don't have them hard-coded and FFD's text bubbles are fully customizable.

  42. Fur-lined, weather-beaten jacket screams "I work hard for a living" contrasting with the friendly goatee and vintage reading glasses that shout "I'm a tech support expert, how can I help you today?". Turtleneck sweater underneath the jacket for that Bear Grylls "I'm literally prepared to leave this concrete jungle and survive in the real woods at any time" rough and tumble feel. Slight smile that says "I want to kill myself, but don't really feel like it tbh". Somewhat unkempt but fitting hair that says "I care about my hair enough to not look like a fool, but I'm not metrosexual". Finally, the Apple earbuds show that despite all of this, you are modern and forward-thinking. 9/10. u srs handsome tbh
