Highway Blossoms is a pretty good EVN with a nice unique setting but doesn't really push its way out of standard tropes within the VN yuri genre. It already had some of the best production values of any EVN I've read (uses much of the same engine settings that the Fault series uses). I enjoyed this one a lot. I don't know if I'll reread it for the remaster, but for first timers, I recommend this one for sure.

Hello there, brave soldiers of Fuwa! This was a rather insane week for me personally, but not without some cool developments on the blog. When it goes to minor announcements, I've added VNDB links to all the old reviews and gave a slight editing run to some of them. I'm not sure why I didn't do it in the past, but it's fixed now and I will obviously keep adding the links to all future posts. Also, if you started following the blog later down the line, this might be a nice moment to check out the things you've missed. This week I've tackled a game development of which we could observe on Fuwa pretty extensively - it's always really cool to see project in which you interacted with the developers, and maybe even left your small mark on, coming into fruition. It's also a game that tackles topics that I'm personally really interested about - that of more "human" aspects of war and totalitarianism. Panzer Hearts by HELYEES proved to be both a flawed game and a very interesting one and was definitely fun to review - hopefully that's also visible on the reader's side of things. I really encourage you all to read the post and if you're not sure if the game might be to your liking, there's a pretty large free demo available on Steam. Next week, I might tackle one more fresh release before I venture into the world of gameplay VNs - it mostly depends on the time at my disposal. My hypothesis is that either this was an algorithmic goof (possibly exploited by the troll activists already discussed), or a rogue employee decided to "enforce the rules" (which are too vague to enforce consistently). Garo: Carved Seal of Flames (or known by its awful localized name: GARO: The Animation) Leon's character arc is amazing and REAL, German is hilarious, Ema is a badass, one of the best out there. The Dub isn't that bad either.

Man, it still really shows what a terrible job Valve does at handling their business side of things. How can you feel confident as either a publisher or consumer if your major retailer is this inconsistent.

I looked at the major contributor to what contributes to my results and it turns out that nationality provides a really strong bias. I decided to skip that question entirely. Next I decided to dress differently because I'm not always wearing the same (surprise surprise). This changed the results completely. Not sexually involved came in second place (but at least it's not first). All other tags changed completely. Now I will apparently have wake-up sex, boob job, triple blowjob and tribalism on penis. Tomorrow morning sounds awesome Now I started wondering what it takes to get certain tags. It could be interesting to pick a tag and then it will look up the answer to each question, which will make that tag most and least likely. Consider this a feature request.

The timing seems a bit suspicious to be completely by chance. I find it likely they were aware of MIM and having ended up on the dirty list and then they started to check titles with confirmation bias and quickly assumed it's likely correct and acted accordingly. They received a backlash. Jim Sterling and so far 10k signatures is what we know, but we don't know how the affected companies reacted. For all we know one or more started using lawyers due to the possible claim of risk of financial loss due to being kicked based on false info. Another thing I started thinking about today is the fact that Steam is the big one on the gaming market. In fact one could argue that it's a monopoly. If they start to use their size to cause financial loss for other companies, they start to enter the domain of antitrust laws. The affected companies are quite small, but the signatures is an indication that it has upset quite a number of people and if it is allowed to grow, it might get political attention. Right now there is a guy in the White House, who is unpredictable, very much pro first amendment and sides with the people. On top of that he has talked about using antitrust laws to split up Amazon. If you look at this from Valve's point of view, what they see is that it's unlikely to reach such a level, but not completely impossible and if it happens, it would be bad. Really bad. Since VNs aren't really important to Valve, it would likely be better to just blame a technical issue and kill off the whole thing before it has a chance to escalate. If you think the case is too small for high ups to be interested, remember that the AG once reacted personally to a funded kickstarter campaign, which didn't ship anything to backers. It's also possible that the backlash and/or feedback from affected companies have reached a higher level at Valve and they want to put everything on pause while they investigate what is going on here. Regardless of what is going on, it looks like things are getting back to normal. They say they will review the titles in question, but I have a feeling they will not find issues severe enough to remove them. Most likely all of them will just stay unmodified.

As for the sequels (Meikyuu and Rakuen), well I'd rather call those the fandiscs but it's not like it'll be wrong here if some people call those as sequels. Some of the problem from the sequels is in regard of the ending in which quite out of character to say it without spoiler. My argument in regard of Grisaia sequels is that Meikyuu should be enough if Frontwing just want to write that as sequel, just like Sharin FD and Akagoei. Then again, perhaps it's understandable if Frontwing want to deliver the sequels quickly to regain some money. For the trivia, Frontwing was broke back when they developed Kajitsu, so basically Kajitsu here is their last gamble back at 2011. But still I would like to think that they can make the ending better by made Yuuji able to choose the heroine that he did had the ending with, just like Galaxy Angel. tldr - While Kajitsu here is quite good and complete, I'm more or less just think the sequels as the fan discs. Feel free though if you want to read the sequels/fan discs later.

Who cares if Valve actually listens? It's free publicity from someone with a huge audience. And publicity means more sales for any developer/publisher mentioned.
