I presume a lot might actually depend on how each author describes "vampirism" in itself. Is it supernatural, or strictly scientific? An ancient curse, some sort of an unknown disease or a symbiotic virus? That sort of context alone has huge impact one many different smaller details, including how other people might perceive vampires and as such, how vampires see themselves.1 point
