VirginSmasher and one other reacted to Yuuko for a topic
Sorry but can you stop saying they have already ruined this title when there is no proof this is a bad translation!!!! Get better taste. None of my favorite titles have translations.2 points -

Thank you very much for taking the time out of your day to write us a lovely blog post! We certainly appreciate it, and are always happy to know what our fans think! We certainly look forward to working with you to create your custom character (and episode for the latter option) should you decide to keep your 'Rebirth' pledge or bump it up to 'King's Companion'!2 points -
Hi there! It’s been a while since the last update sorry >< Last time,I showed to you the trailer of “Up until the end” I hope that you liked it. If you didn’t see it, here’s the link : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlTMDYmD2EY I polished things, again, in the code, sprites, and CG. I’m at the stage where I have to test the game in every route possible, to see if there is any problem, bugs, code errors or things that need more polish. Ii will take some time, but it has to be done! So, as you can see, we’re slowly but surely progressing towards the end! Youhou!! And here's the second CG that you will encounter in the game! Why is he in such a bad condition? The progress so far: Story : 100% Sprites : 97% Backgrounds : 95% CG : 90% GUI : 95% Sounds and Music : 90% Programming : 97% Proofreading: 98% And that’s it for this update Thank you for your support!1 point

Visual novel, or games unofficial patch/mod (Help)
Dark_blade64 reacted to adamstan for a topic
Yes, because you applied it only locally. If you install game from steam on different computer, it will install basic version. That's for unofficial patches, like Konosora retranslation patch. Maybe it's different if mod is on steam itself, but if it's 3rd party, then you have to apply it manually each time.1 point -
After some hardware troubles I finally got around to reading Umineko. I finished ep 1 and read the first few hours of ep 2 and really got hooked on the weird school festival song. It's really promising so far although I have no idea what direction the story is going to take fill eight 15 hour volumes, considering All the praise Umineko gets for it's soundtrack is well deserved. While none of the tracks really stuck to me so far (except for the one mentioned above) I don't think I've read another VN where the soundtrack sets the mood for the scenes as well as this one. Is it just me, or does House in Fata Morgana seem heavily influenced by Umineko? I'm no expert on Japanese scary stories so it's possible that this just is the way artists there tell western-style horror tales, but to me the aesthetics in both titles just seem very similar.1 point

Do the backgrounds seriously need a crowd of people in it?

I don't understand getting weirded out by this, it's a certainly welcome addition in my opinion, far better than having yet another empty-classroom-at-sunset-2343254.jpeg in the background.1 point -
Do the backgrounds seriously need a crowd of people in it?

Just another vote for "I don't really notice when backgrounds are empty, but I really notice and appreciate when they're populated". Muv-Luv and Clannad both come to mind as having a lot of characters in the background art in the school shots in particular, and they breathe a lot of life into those backgrounds.1 point -
Clear formatting on your post (the eraser on the left side of the toolbar) or set the text to automatic color so it can show up in themes with a white post background: Anyway, to answer your question, every time I see a game with populated backgrounds, I see people praise the backgrounds as feeling lively and lived-in. You never hear anyone praise a background for being empty, though. So generally, it's pure upside. The thing is, barely any VN devs actually have characters in the background because it's simply a lot more work. While people praise backgrounds for having characters, it's a luxury. I don't think anyone avoids VNs that don't have those kinds of backgrounds. It's probably not worth it for a small-time VN dev to spend all that time populating their backgrounds. Though I guess I should point out that the current best-selling VN dev, Yuzusoft, is a company that does populate their backgrounds. It helps lend an air of polish to your product.1 point

You are wrong, kurisu calls Maho "Senpai" from the first time, she never calls her plain "Maho", now at some point they changed her name to senpai because they HAD TO (and they explain what senpai means) or else the story wouldn't make any sense but this doesn't make sense either way because why kurisu will change all of the sudden changing from using her name to Senpai in that specific part?Guess what? She wouldn't, a lot of serious stuff happened before and after and she never changed the senpai to her name. See, what you think it was a sensible thing to do it was just something that doesn't make any sense AT ALL and thus a cheap way to fix something for a bad translation decision. Honorifics are part of their language and culture, just as much as mayuri's way of talking (a childish japanese way of talking) and how they conjugate verbs depending on the person they are speaking to or the situation they are in. You cannot have one without the other, you cannot replace a San with a Ms/Mr, the same way you can't replace kun or chan or any other honorific... but wait ohh I see... they didnt replace those with anything, so for example how can you understand that katsumi acts in a really close way to the people around her using the so evil HONORIFICS, yes, you can't, because the translators decided for everyone that you shouldn't care for that and it seems that nobody actually cares as long as the translation looks like if was written by an english author but by doing so they striped the personality of the characters that makes them so unique, all of that is gone because of a bad decision to turn a JAPANESE vn into a weird English wanna be thing. If you want to read English novels then read something written by an English author, then again what you actually want is some butchered cross version of a Japanese written visual novel turned into some American version, the question is why would you be reading something in Japanese if you are so against its culture and everything that makes it so unique? In simple terms, you are asking for a hamburger but at the same time asking to take out the meat and add tofu to it1 point

SakuraGame has now decided to ruin another Cabbit VN, considering that they had already gotten 2 licenses from Cabbit I guess it is somewhat expected. With Kimi e Okuru, Sora no Hana being licensed they only have Love Love Life Ojou-sama 7nin to Love Love Harem Seikatsu left before they have taken all the licenses from Cabbit and they move on to destroying VNs from some other developer. Guess they will probably move on to other titles under Skyfish (Cabbit is a subsidiary under Skyfish btw).0 points

Interest-wise, what part of the VN community would you say you're the most part of?
MaggieROBOT reacted to Ranzo for a topic
Gets ready to toss Maggie into the trash compactor What? What are you looking at me like that for? I'm in the vn camp that likes good stories or semblances of stories filled with interesting characters and a protag that doesn't make me want to slit other peoples wrists.0 points -
