  2. Well, no discussion thread seems to have popped up yet, so I guess I'll make it. As always, I'm plenty excited for most things coming out. In particular, I'm excited for Isekai Quartet: Chibi, Comedy, with my favourite series's. Could not be better. I've also watched the first episode of Fruits Basket. Weird to hear it in Japanese this time. I think I'll wait for the dub, since that's what I originally watched it with. Fruits Basket is important for me because it's among the first few shows where I actually read the manga after the anime. As it happens, however, the anime deviated heavily from the source material at points, so it'll be interesting to see how this new one does it. It's certainly shinier, if nothing else. One Punch Man sequel is something I'll watch. For the comedy, as ever. Other than that... I'll keep an eye on all the romances and comedies and see what I might like.

  3. Play the Demo Here || Discord || Twitter Fifteen years ago, a fatal and near untraceable disease was discovered with the deaths of six children in Manila. After finding out that the disease is only transferable through skin contact, the city is shut off from the world, until a cure could be found. Now in present day, twenty-three year old Jericho survives by being an intimus - someone who sells human touch inside the walls of the Neo-Manila QZ. Though the crime is considered punishable by death, both police and citizens have come to accept them as part of "normal" life. That is, until a new chief inspector is put into position, who’s determined to rid the streets of intimus once and for all. Now Jericho, deprived of clients, is starving. And the decisions he will make will determine if he dies by the end of the day, continue being a survivor... Or maybe, show him something that's thought impossible in Neo-Manila : love. 4. I'm not so sure. Have you played it? From what I've seen, entering into relationships and developing the bonds with the girls is phenomenal, though there's more than a fair bit of everyone just growing to like the protagonist. It's after the relationship starts that it devolves into, uh, an H-fest. At least, the full route I played had a very gradual transition and lots of handling of feelings delicately. I liked it. She got interested in him because of his grades, that much is certain, but they've known each other for a while by the time the VN starts. I think she's also impressed with his ability to resist against her and dealing with his daily life and other people in the particular way he does (avoiding problems).

  6. I cannot view this video now, however - because of such sometimes random parsing I decided to turn off words coloring and hiragana when using chiitrans as a parser - so weirdly parsed words wouldn't distract me. Now I just read, and when I encounter unknown word, I then hover the pointer over it to look it up - and if it turns out to be misparsed, I then use chiitrans' manual reparsing feature - highlight and press space. But, like you say - that requires some basic grammar knowledge, and vocab as well. Chiitrans mostly trips up on slang (confusing particles, casual sentence endings, ない slurred as ねー etc) or when there's extensive kana usage. Haven't used other parsers, so cannot speak about them. To clarify - I'm using only "show original text" option - I don't use translation features, beyond simple looking up of single words.

  7. Ugh... not the best of examples on how to start reading visual novels in Japanese. One thing I noticed while watching this video till the end is that you didn't really learn Japanese grammar good enough. Yes, one can read VNs this way too and enjoy them, but that's only if you accept that your interpretation isn't accurate at least 30% of the time (the number can vary depending on the difficulty of the original JP text). Depending on the level of one's tolerance for ambiguity, this might not be the best way to start reading VNs in raw Japanese. Also... that parser seems to be making mistakes. At one instance, I saw 外 read as よぞ. Where the hell did it get that reading for it?! But yeah, this can still be fun if one accepts enjoying the story like this. I know I can't. That's why I am trying to really nail my comprehension of Japanese before reading VNs with text hookers, so that I can say that something means 100% this or that, not do guess work. In any case, thank you for making this video. Ensemble VNs are interesting. I need to read some of them myself.

  8. in MuvLuv Alternative still is my favorite holy-sh*t moment in any VN. On the lighter side I'm glad I witnessed the Goat-kun scene in Umineko because it comes out of nowhere, adds nothing to the plot, doesn't fit the tone of the story, is incredibly silly, and absolutely amazing. Which is common knowledge in boxing.

  9. Edelweiss was retranslated, everybody that says it has bad translation is playing the pirated version that is the old copy. How do I know? I was helping a stranger with this issue and he sent me a screenshot of the scene and I pulled up my copy from MG and they looked nothing similar and the font was different. Translation for both games were shit at first but were definitely better when they each got retranslated.(Eiden Fantasia might have been TL'ed with the release of the retranslation, as I don't remember if it had a shitty translation at first for certain.) Now, back on topic, Yume Miru Kusuri is a 10 on my vndb because it featured one of the most connecting stories for myself. Aeka's route on there is about her depression and her entire route made me recall the time I was with my Ex who had many of the same issues because of the frequent verbal/ sometimes physical abuse she endured at her own house. Many times I thought she would kill herself while I was sleeping, or that she would simply run away and not tell anyone. (I talked more about this months ago when I first completed Yume Miru Kusuri, and that thread has the full story of my ex, rather not rattle on about it here.) Aeka was the most relatable character to myself I've ever seen in a Visual Novel thus far. That is exactly why I remember her entire route still.

  10. I use a walkthrough, but if it doesn't require a walkthrough then I'll chose one. I like to save the best herione for last.

  11. I exported dialogues from my current ren'py version, and started to line up original lines in the same order - as a preparation for retranslation. (So I'm basically rearranging the spreadsheet containing JP and EN lines side by side that you've seen earlier in this thread)

  12. And here's the final update for Hoshiori, in which we finally have Natsuki's patch released. Go get the patch at their website here, and have fun. As for Tsurezure's next plan, we still wouldn't know yet but whichever plan it is we should appriciate them for being able to translated three good VNs. So congratulation to them, and thanks for their hard work at seven months here.
