Last week, had my occasional anime marathon with my friend. We watched three shows, two of which were new for me. First show was Made in Abyss. At first I thought it was going to be full of furry bait and despair after being exposed to countless Nanachi fanart, but I'm glad to say that it exceeded expectations. I absolutely loved the adventurous feeling the show had going for it, embodied by the characters of Riko and Reg. Second show was Violet Evergarden. I expected it to be a romantic show with how there was so much emphasis in the feeling of love from the start, but I am pleasantly surprised with how it turned out. Violet is such a precious person. I absolutely loved watching her develop into the kind of person she wanted to become. Cried every other episode. I'm a crybaby. I think I'll watch Kokoro Connect next. I have to at least try out @Roach's recommendations.

Certainly. Even though I'm an adult (at least age-wise ) I'm not touching it with a ten foot pole, as I'm pretty sure it would hurt me even now. I'm just too sensitive for this shit. Not porn, and it definitely is veeeery innocent compared to things like euphoria, but I watched "Cube" when I was 15 I think, and I was seriously disturbed by it. OTOH thanks to this I know what to avoid...

I read it after watching the anime, and I enjoyed it more or less. Didn't really add that many new things compared to the anime, but the arc set in the past (forgot its name) is imo more enjoyable when it's written.

Done with Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches and I kind of loved this show, although I've seen from other people's reviews that it might not be "objectively" this great, but simply fits directly into my preferences. It has those light ecchi/harem elements, but immidiately establishes who the main heroine is and develops really satisfying, conclusive romance - Urara grows into a great character and the last few episodes with Yamada fighting to reconnect with her are genuinely touching. On the fun side, the body swapping gimmick comes with awesome performances by the voice actors, with main ones pretty much playing a few different characters on a regular basis. Plot wise, it's not that original (it's kind of Monogatari-light, with the protagonist going around solving problems of the titular witches, basically saving them from themselves) and some of the subplots are rather forgettable, but it's still very fun and the main cast is great, Yamada himself combining being a bit of a dumbass and having a reputation of a delinquent with being genuinely good person – there's some great chemistry between him and all the other major characters. In the end, I give it an extremely biased 9/10 (I think it'll be an 8 or very solid 7 if you don't buy into its formula as much as I did). Will definitely try to give it a rewatch with my gf, I hope she don't hate it. :3 Now I guess I should get back to Ancient Magus' Bride, another one I stalled a while ago...

Honestly I can never understand why some people want to leave Fuwanovel in such a bombastic way, because they can always come back whenever they want (And they can just write a farewell message and be done with it). Then again it's normal if people want attention and that some people did want to achieve it in their own bombastic way (That's extend to Dark_blade64 even though he's just joining in), although dragging people into the discussion that was already settled for a long time is not cool at all. Besides like Novurdim said we assume all people here are adults, and therefore have been assume that they already reasonable enough to understand that some (If not most) VNs here did have porn and also capable to differentiate between fiction and real life (So if both of the OP and Dark_blade64 felt hurt by the porn, then I'll just assume that they still not ready for it). I guess that's all for what I can say here, and sorry for my baggage here. PS - By the way play euphoria at 15 here is not something that I can call as healthy activity here, but I guess the damage is already done.

It's 3AM or something and I finally finished Da Capo. Kotori's route was full of romance. Getting into Da Capo, the kind of content it had was exactly the kind of content I was expecting from a romance-focused moege. It was refreshing to finally read something within what I imagined the story to be. I loved Miharu's route, and it made me realize who real best girl is. I love bananas now. Etc route was pretty interesting, and is a nice play with the overall theme of the game. After reading it all and unlocking all scenarios, I think I can say that Da Capo exceeded my expectations as a moege (or whatever the more appropriate term is for these moege derivatives). It lives up to its reputation, at least. However, I do have some qualms about some of the routes I just finished. I guess I'll just put those in my journal so I don't spoil people who just want to read through buzz here.

I came down with a flu today and as I don't have many resposibilities ATM, decided to spend the next few days catching up with anime. After getting to the current episodes in simulcasts, I've resumed watching Yanada-kun and the Seven Witches which I stalled a while ago and damn, so far it's hands down the best ecchi comedy I've ever seen. Extremely fun and quite cleverly-written, with the kissing scenes (the premise is that the protagonist randomly discovers he has magic powers that work throught a kiss) and mild fanservice being kind of constantly present, but never vulgar or coming out of nowhere... Why can't more shows be like that?

The announcement is the time when a VN title probably gets the most hype, so bringing the release and the announcement closer together is the right move. Getting the announcement years in advance just means that the title becomes forgotten and the initial hype has long waned. so good move there.

I'll just add from myself, as I have some knowledge on porn studies in social science, it's extremely hard to make a reliable study on porn consumers in general, and even harder when it goes to niches. I don't think any study in existance would fully apply to the kind of extreme porn Japanese eroge industry casually produces and how it influences people. Also, porn definitely leaves an effect on people's sexual instincts and that is way more likely to have deep repercussions than the abstract movie or video game violence. I'd say it's pretty safe to say that influence of extreme porn on people is an open question. Same goes for loli stuff. It won't have that much of a negative effect for most, especially if they consume it in reasonable amounts, but saying these don't reproduce really problematic tropes and encourages sexual gratification from questionable stimuli is sugarcoating it at best...
