    Fuwanovel Confessions

Confession: I honestly don't have any idea how I used to like tsundere characters. I mean, there are some good tsunderes, but most of them just act like bitches for no real reason, and I just can't stand them anymore. And, well, making characters tsundere, yandere or any other type of dere without any extra depth is the lamest type of characterization anyway.

  2. I'm like that with Ai Kawashima. She is by no means a great singer (on early records and concerts she is often out of tune), but for some reasons I get really emotionally moved by many of her songs. But she has not only sad ballads Her more uplifting songs also feel genuine to me, and manage to bring smile upon my face.

  3. I was thinking a little bit lately on what I actually find appealing in music above anything else and my conclusion was that its genuine emotion. What really puts me off in idol music and a lot of mainstream pop is that it's completely sterile and industrially-produced. It might be really well-crafted at times, but it's pure plastic – which might sound awfully snobbish/hipster coming from me, but while I might like that kind of music too, I can only truly respect stuff that has some heart in it. This is why I get fascinated by all those singer-songwriter types a lot more even if their output has some major flaws. Majiko is an interesting example, because she's simply not a great singer – I mean, she sings very competently, but has a weak voice and often compensates by shouting excessively, with her voice simply dying out on the middle of it... But damn she shouts her heart out on many of those songs and live performances and it's just... Genuine. And that is IMO really, really hard to fake. (She doesn't only shout BTW)

  4. And it's after the masssive troll purge that pushed some of them out and made others more quiet... Welp, we're on the internet after all. And hello there new person! I have a feeling VN Discords are already a pretty saturated environment, but I wish your one all the best. But I'm also with Infernoplex on the kamige thing: a server dedicated to indoctrinating people about such stuff feels a bit misguided. I mean, what's "importance of VNs" or "importance of kamiges"? Maybe I'm simply jaded, but turning disposable entertainment, even really good one, into an ideology looks kind of silly. People do it all the time of course, but for a Discord server the prime goal should probably be just having fun.

  5. Personally, I think Infernoplex is 100% correct about the VN community. Both about the kamige thing and level of obnoxious. Sadly a few of the regulars here qualify for that.

  7. Wow, I've missed my second Fuwanniversary. So, holy crap, two years already? It's a strange thing, because it feels like I've joined just a few months ago, and at the same time I can't quite remember what I was doing before I went turbo weeb and found my way to grinding VNs all the time. It's just so obvious that I'm reading all this pseudo-Japanese stuff and writing about it... Not that I need to know. There's no going back now.

  8. Its a bit unique feel when a Hard Nukige thus far suddenly turns into a Heavy Nakige (- _ - ; ) Nakige is best known for character development by making characters go through difficult situations. The characters solve their problems, together, even though sometimes, they themselves are responsible for their depressing lifestyle and poor relations, like in this game (https://vndb.org/v18734), the male protagonist casually left adult magazines piled up in the living room of his house, which caused friction between him and his family. He often claimed himself as healthy young man as excuse for everything but ignored what others had to say entirely, yet, blamed others for not understanding his feelings. He also openly hurted his elder sister's feelings who later on revealed that she loved him too much, forgave all his unforgivable misdeeds, even though she personally suffered most of them (as they lived together), and made clear to him that she was going to die silently as single if he never paid attention to her.... Initially, Her attitude was very cold towards him but, that was mostly because he only thought of himself, but never about her and his future. The MC even mentioned mid-game that only because of her strict guidance at home, even though he used to sleep inside his classroom every day at school and almost never self-studied at all, yet, somehow managed to clear class tests with above passing marks.... clearly, a blatant waste of potential. He could have used the guidance his studious sister provided as as an opportunity to earn respect he desired so much and, to improve his family relations. But he didn't, for the maximum part of story and as result, felt lonely and depressed outside as well as even inside his home.... To all those tsun-tsun heroines and heroes (who i mistook as villains for a long time) forced to use hard measures to make their loved ones seriously improve their social awareness, fulfill their responsibilities properly and, to finally change their donkan/hetare attitude for good, respect Comments/suggestions are appreciated.
