  1. Here is a list of VNs officially released in english, I will likely not update this list anymore after August 2021 as I don't see much of a point in it anymore with improvements to the search function of vndb. Orange text means confirmed for an official english release while yellow text means that a part has been released but not the entire VN. I have also made a list with the ones with physical release, this list is sorted the same way as this but also has info on where the titles can be bought and if it is available List of physical english releases of VNs MangaGamer (Store) Sekai Project (Homepage)/Denpasoft (Store) JAST USA (Store) NekoNyan (Store) Frontwing (Homepage) Sol Press (Store) Shiravune (Loves DRM, especially Denuvo) Visual Arts Fruitbat Factory (Store) MoeNovel (Burn in hell) Cherry Kiss Games (Homepage) Winged Cloud Degica Aksys Games (Store) XSEED Games (Store) NIS America (Store NA, Store EU) PQube Others (Japanese) Others (not japanese) Himeya Soft (Bankrupt) Hirameki International (Quit the VN market) SakuraGame/Paradise Project (Machine translated, do not buy from them)

  2. As the title suggest this is a list of the VNs released in english that has a physcial release. I personally love to have physcial copies of VNs as I like collecting things. I recently made a list with the VNs that have official english releases and figured I could use that to make this list. I have marked availablility with colour, red means no longer available, blue means officially available but hard to get (generally things like conventions) yellow means currently available but only for a short period and orange is not yet opened for pre order. Also if I make some mistakes when making the list please say so. Things that are marked as not available could potentially be found at places like Amazon or Ebay, since I didn't include pages like this for availability. There might be sales or discounts on some sites but not other sites, so if you are thinking of buying it and would rather save some money I would recommend to go through the sites selling it, mainly Mangagamer, Jlist and rightstufanime. I guess I should also go a bit more into details about what I mean by limited time, this includes physicals that are only sold through a kickstarter within a limited time as well as titles that seem to go out of stock soon. MangaGamer ( Store ) JAST USA ( Store ) Sekai Project (Homepage)/Denpasoft Front Wing (Homepage) Other Himeya Soft (Bankrupt) Hirameki International (Quit the VN market) Console

  3. You can use Proton on non-Steam games. The easiest method is just to add it as a non-Steam game to your library (Library -> ADD A GAME -> Add a Non-Steam Game...). After adding the game, right-click it in your library and select "Properties...". In the properties windows, in the General tab, click the "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" option at the bottom. Select the most recent Proton option. Close the properties window and run your game as you would with any other Steam game. Running Proton without Steam is a bit more of a hassle, so I don't recommend it unless you really want to avoid Steam.

  4. PlayOnLinux is pretty much dead at this point. If you want a PlayOnLinux alternative then Lutris is probably the way to go. You can use vanilla Wine for most intents and purposes, but if Wine's giving you a hard time then Valve's Proton works incredibly well. Welcome back to Linux!

  6. Hello, I have decided that I am sick of windows and want to switch to Linux. I ran Ubuntu about 15 years ago, until I moved back to windows when I got a new computer, due to issues with finding Linux drivers for that computer. I have hated windows since the end of Windows XP, but always found a reason not to dive into Linux. The reason I am on this forum typing this post is because VN's are the only thing keeping me on Windows Operating System, so before I switch, I want to learn the tricks I need to know to get wine working for most VN's. So can any Linux users here tell me the most common problems you have getting a VN running on wine? Is wine the best method, or would PlayOnLinux work better for VN's? I have a huge VN collection to practice on, I just want a few tips to make the switch easier, Thank You. Edit: I found this guide: https://fglt.nl/guides/visual-novels-on-gnu-linux.html Let me know if this guide is missing anything, Thank you.
