  2. Whatever you do, don't play AP Jax. I did that once.... it didn't go very well :'> I actually bought a Nashor's Tooth. I was like "WOOOW ATTACK SPEED, BONUS AP DAMAGE EVERY 3 AUTO ATTACKS AND MAGIC RESIST SHRED!!! I'LL BE THE EFFIN' MASTER OF LEAGUE OF LEGENDS WITH THIS BUILD MUHAHAHAHAAH XD XD XD" and that's how we lost.
  3. Well, I see then. Thanks! I think I prefer more interaction. And thanks again, everyone
  4. Hmmm maybe " Don't Take It Personally, Babe, It Just Ain't Your Story". I played it a couple of years ago and I really liked the plot... It's qute moving.
  5. Am I the only one who thinks the voice acting sounds a little bit... forced? bland? I have to disagree with you there. At least that wasn't the case when I lived in Portugal. I knew many people in their high school and university years that knew exactly what anime is about. AND most of them could tell what "hentai" was (in a basic way. they would just say "it's porn anime"). I think about half of them watched at least some anime series. Cartoons being for kids is another thing I disagree with. I mean, look at Family Guy and South Park. People know that there are cartoons for kids and cartoons... aimed at other age groups. They are not that naive. In my opinion, the problem was the lack on information general people had about not anime, not cartoons but about Visual Novels themselves. There is a very limited number of that kind of games in Europe (and I guess in the west in general) and not many people are aware that genre even exists. Here in China, VN's are a big thing, you can see them for sale in any electronics shops, sometimes even street sellers have them. In fact, eroge is so big here that the amount of pirated games is insane.
  6. Thanks for all the warm welcomes everyone! Well, it's a funny story. I first got into Visual Novels when I played a Date Sim flash game about the world of Evangelion that I found on newgrounds.com. that was around 2007! here is the link: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/117511 (18+) I liked the idea of being the one in control of my character and make the choices for him and having many different stories, paths and ending based on my choices. So I looked more into it and I started playing some Visual Novels. Really? I thought all date sim games were in a way Visual Novels. What is a "true" VN then? I looked into it and it sounds like the kind I would enjoy
  7. Although it cannot be denied that Visual Novels are a good way to give the rest of the world a peek into the Japanese culture, for me it's much more than that. There are several other things that got me hooked to VN's besides the Japanese culture. The characters' appeal is defenitely something important to me. From their personalities to their tastes and their looks, you can always find so many different stories, endings and paths. I like the idea of being the one in control of my character and make the choices for him based on my personal feelings. Another thing is that you can also make a mental picture of character's personalities and tastes and predict how they will react to the things I do to them. Being a dating culture nerd, it's also especially interesting to see the Japanese dating culture, how they act on dates, what they like as gifts, the traditions they have and the whole concept of "relationship". The idea of having a Disney Visual Novel does not appeal to me at all. It's too much of a change from what we're used to. That would mean no super kawaii 2D anime girls on my computer screen (I'm joking about this one but deep down maybe I really mean it) and there's won't be the challenge of trying to on dates on the Japanese way,
  8. They won't. So almost everytime I watch a Harem anime ending, I end up making Earth a slightly safer place to live in. ha!
  9. Hmmmm... why would you prefer a VN without sound though? The Japanese voice actresses usually sound so sexy.
  10. Thank you! By the way, if I want to do a review of a visual novel game that I played, is there any specific place in this forum that I can post it?
  11. Lots of older visual novels don't come with voices, if you are into that kind... I can recommend you some.
  12. hey everyone! I am 22 years old, I live in China now (but originally from Portugal) and I joined this forum because I am looking forward to discuss about the visual novels that I've played and I liked as well as those that I didn't like. I especially like the style of the visual novels that came out in the 1990s and early 2000s such as Welcome to Pia Carrot! (Took me forever to get it to work in the PC-FX emulator!!), Season of the Sakura and True Love. I like simplicity above all. As for anime, I like comedy anime series. Series with no point at all other than making you laugh. Usually, the sillier the better. Good examples of this are Lucky Star, Azumanga Daioh, Kochikame and Excel Saga. I'm not a big fan of the Harem kind because sometimes the girl that the main character chooses to be his girlfriend (or whatever) in the end makes me wanna punch a snake in the balls. That's why I play the visual novels based on Harem animes. So that I can do the ending right hmmm I think that's it. I hope I can contribute positively to this forum!
