I feel like I'm just repeating what many people have already posted, but in a single player I don't see an issue with cheating in any way. In fact I've gotten more mileage from a few games because I did new games with cheat codes to make it more interesting or different. I definitely take issue with it in multiplayer games though as it can give an unfair advantage over other players. Both in regards to how difficult something could be to obtain in say an mmo and you cheat to duplicate or generate said item and using hacks to bypass regular game limitations.

I gave up on Sega ever localizing it and imported it. Its a pretty fun Action RPG, I'd recommend it to anyone that likes the Tales of series. I wish I could fully understand the story, but I heard from others that the story was a bit sub-par.

I'd love it if we got the ps3 version of Tales of Vesperia released here (On PC I suppose since ps3 is at the end of its life-cycle). I don't own an xbox 360, plus that version is missing a sizable chunk of content compared to the ps3 version, and while I did import and japanese copy, It would be great if it officially got released in English.

What Video Games Are You Playing Right Now?
Thunderbro replied to solidbatman's topic in Gaming Talk
Just finished Trails in the Sky SC. Such a great game, its gonna be tough waiting for the 3rd + Trails of Cold Steel 2. -
I've definitely started a new visual novel while I've had another one in progress. Of course, if I do end up doing that the other one ends up going on hiatus until I finish the new one I just started. The only exception to this I guess would be if I have VNs on my vita because of their portability.

What Video Games Are You Playing Right Now?
Thunderbro replied to solidbatman's topic in Gaming Talk
I've been playing Trails in the Sky SC a lot during the past week. Currently on Chapter 4, making sure to do all the side quests as well. I'm finding some of the optional side bosses to be quite challenging in comparison to the first game. This series still has the best translation and dialogue of any jrpg game series I've ever played. -
I listen to Touhou doujin music fairly often. Its actually what got me into Touhou to begin with. They both do very different genres, but I'm very fond of Demetori and East New Sound.

Path of Radiance on Gamecube and Radiant Dawn on Wii did have an Easy difficulty option in Non-Japanese Copies of the game (they also removed Lunatic difficulty from these releases as well). Also I believe it was in Radiant Dawn (although I might have this backwards), where you could make a save every single turn without any consequences, and just reload if you messed up. -

I finished Trails of Cold Steel. Amazing game, I think its probably my favorite game on the vita, even above Persona 4. Also I see Falcom has graced us with another cliffhanger ending. The wait for the sequel will be painful. -

Check the secondhand shop in Trista. I missed one of the books at some point and it appeared in the shop when I checked it (although it was something like 8000 Mira). -
master thesis - survey about playing visual novels
Thunderbro replied to MissNordkorea's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I filled out your survey, can't wait to see the results. That said, as other have already pointed out, some of these questions could have been designed better. The question asking about translation quality stuck out to me. I've played some VNs that had fantastic translations and some that were barely better than a machine translation. -
Root Double- Before Crime * After Days - Kickstarter launched!
Thunderbro replied to Decay's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I don't understand why the vita port is in such an expensive tier. I might have considered it if it were less expensive. -

I've been playing Trails of Cold Steel as well. I'm about halfway through Chapter 4 and I'm 51 hours into the game because I talk to every single npc at every chance I get. I love the world that this series has been building up. -
Unfortunately, Kyou suffers from "best girl and worst route" syndrome. It's even more common (and arguably even more frustrating) than "best girl and no route" syndrome. Regarding typos: I don't have data, but my gut feel says Sekai Project is even worse than the other major English publishers about them... I haven't hit the particular problem in Yukine's route mentioned above, but I stopped counting at about half a dozen when I was maybe two hours into the common route my first time through. If I'd been tallying them up, I expect I would be above 30 typos already (mostly grammatical mistakes, especially missing short words, but even a few very rare spelling errors that somehow got past a spellchecker), and I've only finished 4 routes so far. As much as people like to knock Ixrec's work, all the Amaterasu translations I've played so far (Sekien no Inganock, Comyu, and Rewrite) are just way, way higher quality on this front than anything officially released that I've ever read. While I fully understand that proofreading / copy editing is the last, least part of a translation project, I nonetheless wish these guys would find a way to do a better job of it, because it pulls me out of the immersion every damn time. Would you recommend the fan TL over the Sekai one or should I get Sekai's version? I would definitely recommend the Sekai one over the fan TL. The fan TL was really bad, the further you got the worse it would get, not to mention various very annoying glitches that popped up as well. On that note, I really hope Sekai project introduces a patch to fix the current text errors. I'd like to read an English version of Clannad that isn't full of text errors.

Found a 60 fps fan-patch for Tales of Zesteria, so I've resumed my play-through of that game. I get occasional frame dips, but its been running at a constant 60fps for the most part. -
Characters or story - Whats more important?
Thunderbro replied to Dergonu's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Between the two, characters are more important to me. That said I find a good story to be very important as well, its hard for me to continue reading something if I'm not interested in the story. Honestly I think its important for both the story and the characters to compliment each other for a visual novel to be good. -
I definitely recommend Trails in the Sky SC and Ys VI (especially if you enjoyed either Ys origin or Ys Oath in Felghana).
-
Well, that seems a little disappointing. At least Clannad should get more buyers when it goes on a bigger sale.
-
I'll probably buy mushihimesama and neptunia rebirth 3. Nothing else seems interesting that is actually on sale that I don't already own.

Narcissu 10th Anniversary Anthology Project
Thunderbro replied to InvertMouse's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I ended up backing the $20 tier right at the end so I can get the visual novels at a slight discount. -
I'm glad that article's comment section disintegrated into a discussion/rant/whatever you want to call it, about how big the character's eyes are.
-
I'm happy to see that Clannad is selling so well despite its high price, I see that its still in the top 5 still. I wonder how many copies have already been sold at this point, I feel like I underestimated the popularity of the anime.

It seems to be doing really well. Also, ArchonofFail put together a 5 minute comparison video on Reddit (comparing the official and fan translations side by side,) long story short the official translation reads far better. It seems to be a greatly improved reading experience. Nice work by the folk at Sekai. For the curious... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLEo-Q3J4s4 That translation seems so much nicer. Also I'm sure it will be without the errors that were popping up a little later in the fan-translation.
