This isn't an argument, just a discussion on KNs (Kinetic Novels). Good or bad is just a conversation starter that everyone can understand, but you have to admit that bad kinetics could most likely be helped with the addition of diverging paths.

I think the dividing routes coupled with multiple converging storylines, are what sets VNs apart and what makes it unique, Kinetic don't have that uniqueness. I'm not saying their particularly bad, just sub-par to great experiences like Fate/ Stay Night and G-Senjou

But what about routes? They are the reason I love VNs

True, but some bad ends are really thought out (ex. Fate/ Stay Night) and give different insights into certain characters. It's normally a sign of a good VN that wasn't rushed in development.

Rewrite is one of the longest VNs in existence. Rewrite is currently my favorite VN in existence. If the story is good and the ending is right, it doesn't matter how long it took. With that being said, VNs like "Kamidori Alchemy Meister" (which take a minimum of 72 hours to complete) the story is good but the human brain will inevitably get bored before the routes even start.

Though you could say, experiencing all of the endings (both bad and good) is you unlocking the full experience. An experience Kinetic and normal books cannot give you.

I was totally thinking of G-String when I was making this topic, choices in the beginning had little impact but I think the routes and the games as a whole was a masterpiece. Even as a kinetic, if it went through a certain route, the amazing story would've still been their but I feel routes gave it more of a broad sense over the world in that VN....I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I did, that's my point.

I think apples are better, if you have tasted both then you'll have an opinion "I haven't played them, but they sound okay." seems neutral to me, and if you have played them then you should have an opinion

So I was thinking about the novels I've played and noticed that in certain titles, in the beginning of the common route, they give you choices that have little story effect just to give you a sense of fulfillment which some readers like. Of course their are normally big choices later on, if a development team puts time into choices that really no effect in the long run, just to keep the reader interested, why are kinetic novels gaining popularity? You have absolutely no effect on the plot (like you're reading a normal book) so why do so many people pay money for these over-hyped books disguised as games?

I just started Comyu, thinking about making a review after i'm done...I only do that when I really like games lol

Alright, H-scenes makes novels more popular. Point, blank, period. If I see two VNs said to be pretty much on the same level, i'm going to go with the one who has H-scenes. On the pure fact that it's just more content there, some H-scenes are integrated into the story and actually play a part to show development of romantic relationships, it's not all bad.

Honestly, people get too butthurt (no pun intended) over Hs, if you don't want to see it than just fast-forward but you don't have to curse everyone who likes to see it and the same goes for vice-versa Y'all need to move on from this H shit, and just enjoy VNs with of all it's beauties and qualms

I'm talking about stuff played this year though if you happen to have played Fate/ Stay Night this year (like I am currently) it's completely fine to say that your best even though it's been out for some time now

Well, You've successfully got me excited/interested in Clover Days and the moment I actually thought it was going to be a great game, I found out that it was untranslated Thank you, how was it?
-
I would've put best VNs of 2014 but with the fact that old (and good) VNs get late translation I just wanted to know what stellar novels have you played this year partly because i'm looking for recommendations B)

What's one way to make Visual Novels more known in the west while simultaneously creating discussions, suggesting, and playthroughts? SHOW/YOUTUBE CHANNEL!!!!!!!!!! Ok I was a little bored and this came off the top of my head and i'm known to give up on ventures as quickly as I enter them But I'm sure if everyone involved is trying their hardest There won't be any place for me to say i'm out that being said I want people to discuss and help me think this out but as for now here are the people i'm looking for to get started Speaker - Good Voice/Perfect Speech, ACTUALLY GOOD Microphone Writer (Info Bank) - They will help me come up with ideas and also must be well-vexed in all things visual novels only so we can cover our asses if we get any info wrong Visual Novel Maker - A big part of the show will be western VNs so of course we'll need some western VN makers to consult when we're making our topic around them "Perfect" Japanese Speaker - 90% of VNs are in japanese but we don't discriminant! we'll need a speaker to play through Japanese VNs and translate/tell us about/review them MORE WRITER'S - I'll come to this forum for alot of my inquires but (If you read the later parts of Bakuman you would know) that having too many "Writer's" ends up in everything becoming and in-consistent and twisted, falling apart eventually So we're gonna need 2 or 3 besides me because honestly i'm not that good and everyone falls flat every once in awhile (any position can also be writer if you have time

Rewrite is the reason I said if it's good I want AS MUCH as possible (With Little Busters being one of the one's I dropped) but sadly I changed computers and do not want to go through the pain which was installing that crap and I have to go through routes to unlock the one I was at which is just too much trouble for me right now And Kanon is just....it scares me -
Well, I've just returned to Visual Novels (It's a On/Off Relationship, if you know what that feels like) and because most of my recent VNs I dropped because of length, don't get me wrong if it's good I want AS MUCH of it as I can possibly get but the thing with long VNs is that they're REALLY long due to the fact they normal length VNs are already LONG from a normal gamer's perspective so inevitably there ends up being a point (normally in the middle) that things slow down and become very boring which is the moment I drop them and whenever I drop a VN I leave them for several months So I'm here to ask for a VN Suggestion that I can finish in 10-20 hours (like noting) and only due to me looking for something a bit I want either gameplay or lots of choices Thanks for reading Senpai! and no pressure if you don't make a suggestion but it would really help! Keep it Key

Definitely Rewrite the animated opening was such a tease im still wondering why Key hasn't had it animated yet it would definitely kill and alot of people will be surprised that an action title came from key
-
As with most anime to visual novels (not the other way around of course) I didn't expect a masterpiece more of an extension of the anime

Hey guys I just got back from a long hiatus from visual novels but while looking through Fuwanovel for my homecoming game I found Toradora portable and even though Toradora was my all-time favorite anime I wasn't thrilled about going through the story a second time but I still dug a little deeper and found out that it was a direct sequel from the last episode of Toradora then I literally jumped out of my seat and begun to pound my head against the wall out of excitement I was left wanting so much more after the end of Toradora and I finally get my DLC I been waiting for
