  1. I may, but I'd prefer to do it at a later date. I've actually been using it to experiment on a bit since it was my first paint. I can post the sketch sheet I've been working on for the time being, I'm only nearly half-way done. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/25812766/art/faceprocess.jpg Here's where I'm at so far. It's nothing exciting or anything. The original character isn't by me, so please don't credit me for that. A couple of weeks ago I finally got serious about drawing, but I hardly knew how to use my tablet and I was terrible at drawing (unless you wanted a stick figure with noodle arms). For the time being I've just been redrawing those four faces over and over to improve my strokes and familiarize myself with the tablet. I'll make a thread if I improve enough to come up with something more original and cool looking, but this is all I've got for now. I'll keep adding to it until I fill the page. Even if I still have a lot of them to do, at least I'm improving I suppose. I'll update it as I go, but for now I've been sucked into Mirai Nikki.
  2. Granted, but they're genie wishes that have a large negative twist to them. I wish Pandora would stop playing me the same songs over and over.
  3. http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/ef0b/ I wish for more wishes.
  4. Rigging always was my least favorite part about modeling, but I'm not sure this is something frequently rushed enough to make all of the animations look terrible, though I can't say I haven't seen it before. I actually already have Maya and I know a decent amount about it, but the main program I've been using for a few years is 3ds max. I've had no luck finding good tutorials for either. It seems like quite a few artist from 3dcg-arts, deviantart, or just PVs use 3ds max, but I have no idea how they actually do it yet. I'm sure there are a reasonable amount of tutorials out their that I may be able to find once I've progressed a little further in Japanese, though. Anyway, I didn't mean to keep bothering you guys about that. On the Oculus Rift, does it have a list of specs and such of what it can run? How powerful are those tiny goggles at the moment?
  5. (Hopefully this isn't too off-topic). Do you know if that site has tutorials and such on that, or models available for download I could study? I'd check myself but I don't know enough Japanese and it appears Google Translator breaks half the page. I can make props and such just fine, but making anime characters would be much more fun. I've tried attempting it myself, but the results were disastrous . Trying to make characters for the Oculus Rift in the future would be pretty cool.
  6. As long as the animations are smooth, it should be fine. Expressions on the other hand ... http://i.imgur.com/AzVn0Cl.jpg 3D anime characters can have some strange modifiers sometimes.
  7. As twisted as it was, it did kind of give me a cool idea for a story that I'd love to actually make use of at some point. I may start recording it at some point so I can add to it and refine it for the fun of it. I'd love to turn it into a manga, visual novel, or game as some point but that'd be a few years from now if I actually do it. Especially since I only just now finished inking and coloring my first digital anime drawing, and it took me ~5 hours to do. That was terrible.
  8. Funding is probably the primary issue you'll get with any kind of MMO. Most of them just turn into money farms that make you pay monthly, pay for any kind of visual changes, or worse -- are pay to win. Other than that it's probably the amount of grinding you need to do, since SAO skips through it all (since there's no point in showing Kirito spending hours killing the same monsters). Lastly, there's always the community. Since there's no life or death situation, there's no need to be as friendly so you're probably going to get the typical internet community you'd see on lots of games. I'm sure there are other reasons, but really if you take some creative elements and add a little more freedom you could have something that was pretty cool, but most companies don't bother putting in all that effort. You'd never be able to duplicate SAO, but if the developers spent more time on it, they could easily create some beautiful landscapes, dynamic mechanics, and more creative combat. Maybe some day.
  9. What are the usual chances (if you had to guess) the program would work with the Visual Novel (assuming some are packaged differently .. or something).
  10. Granted, but it was cropped poorly. I wish for inspiration.
  11. Haha yeah, that's exactly the issue -- even offline. I can't blame Ryoji for worrying about it. People will go out of their way to try to change your opinion, and your best friends may even fight with you over silly elections when they come up. I'm not sure why people are so silly, but I don't think we can do anything about it.
  12. Granted, but it's a boy. I wish for a happier Ryoji
  13. I'm not sure if this counts, but a friend sent me this video the other day: (Blah, embedding isn't working.) Doesn't look like anybody posted it already but a few videos were also apparently removed. Sorry if it was.
  14. Granted, but every musician has turned into Miley Cyrus. I wish for magical powers.
  15. I can't disagree with you, though people will always have a reason to complain. It's always the worst when it comes to religion or politics, though.
  16. My hard drive is almost full, though hopefully I can get a new one this summer. I usually stick to streams since I don't have much room, but I'll go for downloads if I can't find any decent quality streams. Adblock Plus for Firefox does great at blocking Cruncyroll's ads so they're just reduced to second-long pauses. When it comes to subs vs dubs, I'd have to go with subs. For some reason most of the dubs have voice acting that's just absolutely terrible, even if they have good voice actors. I guess it's not so bad for learning Japanese though, anyway. It's pretty cool being able to slowly understand more and more of the dialogue.
  17. Well, I did just read Saya no Uta for the fun of it. I had to change my pants a couple of times, but it was pretty good. It wasn't actually scary or anything, but I do kind of wonder what could've possibly inspired someone to create that type of thing.
  18. To me, a lot of the anime characters brought to 3d just look strange or creepy. Most of them used for games are also really really low detail, so they just look even weirder. There are a few that don't look half bad though, but it wouldn't surprise me if these weren't the kind that made it into the Oculus games. The only con I know of is that even with the few that look half decent, the exaggerated expressions and chibi variants just make you want to piss your pants.
  19. I'm kind of waiting on some improvements for the Oculus Rift. It's not as good as it seems at the moment, but surely it's improving nicely as technology advances. On the other hand, could you imagine things get so advanced that the anime characters are given personalities or someone develops a virus for the Oculus Rift (somehow)? Waking up to your favorite anime character singing would become waking up to your favorite anime character slapping you or trying to kill you.
  20. Granted, but it's in your eye. I wish for a fancy new hat.
  21. Ah, okay, thanks! I'll go ahead and toss in a form later then in case someone needs me as a last resort or something. I have a little too much free time at the moment anyway, so I guess that's a plus. I primarily asked because the current couple of VNs I read had strange English in some places. It wasn't that bad although there were a couple of lines that confused me entirely. I assume it was just that specific translation though. There is one more related thing that comes to mind (sorry I didn't ask earlier -- and that I'm turning my intro thread into a question thread ). I use Photoshop pretty frequently for both 2D and 3D works, so I may be able to put that to use. What exactly does image editing usually entail? On Japanese, learning new words was enjoyable until it started tossing all kinds of new Hiragana symbols at me. Once I have Hiragana down (and eventually Katakana and Kanji..) the rest should be decent until grammar comes into play and flips all of the English grammar rules I grew up learning around.
  22. In a good way or bad way? I'll let you know after I finish something more interesting than what I've read currently. Actually I use 3DS Max for anything I do currently, though I want to learn Zbrush once I'm more familiar with using my tablet. I use Facebook waaay less than I should, so I don't think it's me. I just took the screenshot from that video because I thought it was cute and it actually kind of matched my old one, but I'll change it.
  23. Are you finished with those errands?
  24. Hi guys! I found this forum a few days ago from Aaeru's blog (which I don't know how I found). I'm still new to visual novels and such, having only read two, but I like them so far. Just as some misc info about myself; I currently do 3D Modeling and I'm working on transitioning my 2D art to digital art. I'm currently learning Japanese using Memrise, though I'm still sort of new to it. Perhaps I'll bother updating page later once I know everybody, but for now I guess that's fine. P.S. Before volunteering, are native English speakers for editing and proof reading and such in way too much of an abundance, or are they frequently needed?
