Should I continue Chaos;Head? (Currently end of chapter 7)
cro-mag replied to limitseeker's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I disagree with @1P1A. Instead i agree with those he mentioned as "everyone" who said that "VN is much better". I like it, although not so much as Steins;Gate. Honestly, i actually don't really know what to suggest... Cuz i had been reading it with interest (aside from MC) and the thought about stopping never crossed my mind. It all goes up to whether or not you want to disclose the truth and i'd say that there are some quite interesting moments in the end and that is worth to read. -
I can understand the feeling, same here. No one to talk. So i made 3 big posts at the start of this month here about VNs i finished in 2 weeks - especially Root Double case did hit the spot - kinda long one) But just wanted to share some thoughts. And you may open spoiler tag freely, really. It's just to hide some names from people who didn't read the VN + one thing about MLA. And my thoughts on some of your words, that's all. I understand how it's a big no-no to spoil the story, especially in KID's VNs, so rest assured)
-
Well, that was definitely a lot to read) Anyway
-
Aside from Drakengard 3 i'm also playing Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey Redux on 3DS. And oh boy, these new dungeon's maps! Good old Atlus... Reminds me of SMT 4: Apocalypse. Here's final dungeon's map from there (no spoilers): https://goo.gl/images/XrVrmd

I always press a button to the next line in VNs when i read faster than they speak. But in 2nd run of Anzu's route i literally listened to every phrase she said till the end - so much i like her voice. Overall, there are 3 heroines i don't care about, and 3 amazing ones, which is actually enough for me to love this VN. It's so sad that DC2 Spring Celebration is not translated. So i hope maybe one day i'll try to read it with translator, at least Anzu, Koko and Amakase's routes. Couple of OST i like (it's kinda hard to find Anzu's OST for some reason, so it's not here):
-
Koko/Amakase were my 2nd fav characters in game after Anzu (which is among my the most fav girls ever in VNs). Yeah, sex scenes were not the thing game should be proud about, but i did not pay attention to it, because imo it's not the most important thing here. Moreover, i think they could easily not to do these scenes at all, story was more important. Also, couldn't care less about sisters and Nanaka, that's just not my type. But other 3 routes combined make this VN one of the most dear and memorable for me. I even read Anzu's route twice. She's really the best. And i love her voice so much. Also i can say that there are some OST here that caught my eye. Like 4 or 5. Especially Anzu's OST. My personal favorite. I think it's beautiful music. But i can understand those who doesn't think the way i am. It's just DC in general is of course not such thrilled and full of action as MLA or G Senjou no Maou. So it's understandable that so slow paced VNs don't suit to everyone. As for Ever17, i agree with other people saying that age doesn't matter here. I still think VN looks good and the story is amazing, so give it a try someday if you will.
-
Maybe it's like @Larxe1 said and Ever17 is indeed made for certain people. But i can say i played it 3 years ago and since then i've been considering it as a masperpiece, one of the best VNs i've ever read and the best in Infinite trilogy followed by Remember11. So i totally recommend it. As for the others - well, i may sound rather obviously, but choose VN according to your mood. As i can see, both Da Capo in your list are stated as "Stalled", so dunno about DC3, if you didn't especially like previous ones. Although some people find it better. Well, maybe they're "stalled" not because you don't like it, in that case ignore me)) Both Ever17 and Steins;Gate offer great story. Maybe former is a bit... lighter, for the lack of other word. But if you'd like to play something involving thrill and mysteries, choose Danganronpa.
-
Welcome! Enjoy your time here. And i'd also be glad to recommend some VNs if you don't mind. Basically, what @littleshogun said. Plus, if you will decide to try Ever17, you may also try Remember11 and imo these 2 VNs are the only ones really worth reading out of Infinite trilogy, you may easily skip Never7. Also, considering you did beat AA games, i can suggest Danganronpa series. Hope you like it.
-
"Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward" and "Zero Time Dilemma". But it's recommended to read 999 first. Dunno if 999 shows you paths you've read on PS4/Vita, i read it on DS.
-
If it's final "boss" on branch D, then i'm not surprised. I heard many unflattering words about that final song, that it's just nigh impossible to beat without YT. Even with video it's hard. Well, i'm still yet to unlock branch B, so we'll see.
-
Man, kinda sad that ending is, ehm... sad. I like happy endings. Will keep that in mind when i finally decide to start reading it. Key created wonderful stories, but their conclusion is always kinda depressing. Same with their other creation - anime "Angel Beats!" That ending was really touching. One of the best shows i've ever seen and one of the best girl. Anyway, as for my VN on the line - started "Cou- Kuroi Ryuu To Yasashii Oukoku", but so far have read only a small amount. Decided to catch up with some LNs first.
-
Started to play Drakengard 3 at last. Finished 3,5 chapters. Well, i knew that series always had rather... peculiar characters)) And this part stands out as well. But damn, i don't know how they managed to release the game with SO BAD frame rate... It's just ridiculous! After some hours i just went and set my PS3 to 576i quality to get better performance! It's insane... Sad that all these performance issues ruin experience of such a rather interesting game. Hoped to hear smth about HD Remaster after Nier Automata, but... Oh well.
-
I mentioned it in my so-called review a bit. It's not about story and characters, it's just about total explanation of everything that happens and about all phenomena happening with physical, scientific and psychological points of view, with every little detail. I just remember how i was impressed when in Muv-Luv we Maybe it's a common thing for many VNs, but i still like how this creates so detailed world you can believe in. Have fun, really! Imo it's one of the best entertaining VNs ever.
-
I wonder if i ever get to that VN... Had been in my wishlist for some years, same with Kanon. I finally made some progress with Key's VNs last year after i finished Little Busters! Before that it was only Clannad that i read. And next plan was to start Rewrite. Which i actually wanted to read at first, but later discovered Root Double, so switched to that one.
-
In continuation to previous 2 posts – the last VN I finished. Root Double. This is really an awesome VN. I consider it a masterpiece. Reminded me somewhat of Muv-Luv Alternative, maybe primarily because of thorough explanation of every little detail you encounter, thus creating a world you can believe in. It was really a long ride for me (a week to be precise, because no matter how you look at it, it’s always quicker to read in your native language which was not the case this time, only for previous two VNs), but it was definitely worth reading. Sorry for the number of spoiler tags below, tried to do not spell even the names when unnecessary, just in case. About Root After part. Actually, don’t have much to say here. I read it firsthand (and think that’s how everyone should read it) and liked it all very much. Maybe there were some moments to argue about – don’t sure honestly. Even doubt they actually were. Moreover, it was also about kind of thing, like Remember11, so another good point for me. After Good Ending, couldn’t wait for continuation. About Root Before part. It sure took a long time for that route to catch up with events in Root After, that’s for sure. What’s more, it wasn’t only At first (especially if you’re reading that part first, before Root After) you may think that’s just too cliche sometimes. And that’s actually true. Childhood friend again, even 2 of them! Of course both are girls. Transfer student, from overboard to say the least! Again she’s a girl and of course she’s blonde. And at the end of first school day – “I’m gonna protect you and will be staying in your house”. Seriously, could it be even more cliche here? lol Well, later it becomes not so funny and you forget about all that. Btw, it was quite surprising to hear such VA of Salyu. Usually transfer girl has a different personality and way more cheerful voice so i was glad with that change. And overall i’m glad Salyu turned out to be I have some complaints about this route though. One of them is how Also i have to say that among all characters in all routes the one i’m fond of the least is It’s just i feel i have less connection with her than with anyone else, and she’s not exactly my type. In route Double we see stays as the most cliche person till the very end. Albeit, one more time, she’s better than she could be and i’m grateful for that. But she loses to Also Natsuhiko, despite being also your average cliche boy in the beginning of Root Before, later he naturally develops as a character. Actually there is absolute no one person i could say that i hate or dislike him/her. And that’s awesome, all characters are different, all of them have their own motivation as well as back story and background, upon seeing which we better understand them. And how viewing their background was creatively written into story – that’s another point of praise. And not only main cast is great, i also like But my favorite ones are among male (duh, not many persons to choose from here… But he’s really good, despite all certain things) and of course among female – she’s just super awesome, loved her since first glance. I guess are also good, not sure, they are just different, but all are great. And considering characters and their background – Xtend episodes do another fine job to better understanding the cast. Albeit they’re available only after you finish the story, it’s still definitely worth reading (despite many of them you’ve already read during main game, they still sometimes bring some interesting little details to the story, like And when you figure out you understand one more time how creatively that was done and how much work had been made by devs to surprise you and keep your interest. Also, What a useful doll lol About Root Double. At first i want to say that during that route i couldn’t help but smirk to myself about Jokes aside, all of Root Double route was a great conclusion to the story. Well, if you can call a “conclusion” several hours of reading, with duration maybe equal to After/Before/Current routes combined… Anyway, it was really, really great, kinda hard to express with words. And the scene’s name i thing it’s so befitting to events happening at the end. They’re really grand, for the lack of better word. And the way they made that grand ending route is another demonstration of creativity from devs’ side. It was very enjoyable reading for me. It was always hard to stop myself from continuation, only 4 am on the clock did its thing. And it’s not because i “wanted” to sleep, but because i “should” go to sleep, cuz “come on, man, don’t do this to your body!”)) And the only thing i don’t quite like in the ending – Wasn’t necessary at all imo. Also some words about music. OST is also very great, befitting the whole VN. Especially i loved these tracks: (main menu OST, and that’s so good i never tired to listen to it), “Words of Healing” plus some of personal characters’ OST like Overall, i enjoyed the story very much, liked all characters very much even more i liked them the more i’d been reading. But i guess it was to be expected. And i’m really glad that such VNs continue to appear, and hope they’ll continue to appear in the future. I guess everyone who like great stories and thoroughly created worlds should try this VN. And its ending is how it should be, This ending truly warms my heart. And at the true end of story i literally didn’t want to say goodbye to all of the characters after struggling with them all these I wanted to read a bit more, to know for instance if But oh well, all good things come to an end eventually. Anyway, such an awesome story and touching ending. 10/10 Well, that's all for now. Sorry for such a sheet of text)) Next i really want to read "Cou- Kuroi Ryuu To Yasashii Oukoku", but dunno when it happens. I still have some video games to play.

In continuation to my previous post, the 2nd VN I finished. Remember11. Well, just as i thought at the beginning – it stands between Ever17 and Never7 for me, with the former occupying the 1st place obviously. I think for those who don’t go for Infinite VNs completion and just want to read a good story – they may easily skip Never7 and go for other 2, honestly. Now as for VN itself. If we put away the ending for now, i really enjoyed the story and all characters. It was very interesting to read how they I also very much like games/VNs/anime when characters so that made a reading even more enjoyable for me. Plus Ever17 was a masterpiece in my eyes so I had my hopes quite high. Wasn’t disappointed in the end. Anyway, i have only one big complaint. No matter the personal/current circumstances, no matter what happened in her past or whatever, i Other than that – i have no complaints. Well, except for ending of course. That alone doesn’t make game bad of course imo. Just think they overdid it with unanswered things. All in all, i’m gonna read full analysis soon for better understanding. Anyway, that was a very interesting reading. What you’d expect from studio that had made Ever17. Naturally couldn’t stop. Last time to be continued.

So i had a couple of free from work weeks and managed to finish 3 VNs. There’re some of my thoughts about them. I’ll make 3 posts because there is a lot of text, sorry about that. Couldn’t use internet all this time, so… Hope you don't mind. Heavy spoilers alert. Subarashiki Hibi. I really enjoyed this VN. Among the things i want to say/complain about it are those: 1. Don’t quite like how some conversations were really long-drawn. Afterwards, when i finished reading, all of that didn’t feel like such a bother already. But still there’re many such moments. Like in times when 2. I really feel sorry for 3. Aside from point 1, there is one more thing that i can’t tolerate with. I’m talking about when 4. And about End Sky 2 ending. Confusing. Very confusing. My own thoughts atm when i finished were that maybe Dunno, maybe i’m wrong about that 4th point, but that what i thought that time. Actually, that's what i'm still thinking. Also some H-scenes here were... Like those which you don’t see everyday, that’s for sure. It wasn’t actually a pleasant reading. I wanted to be done with them as soon as possible tbh. Gladly, most of them happen only in route so that’s good at least. But they did put quite a heavy impression on me. Overall, once again, it was an interesting reading. With plenty of sad moments as well. To be continue.
-
I'm about to start "Subarashiki Hibi". Then it'll be "Remember11" and later either "Cou- Kuroi Ryuu To Yasashii Oukoku" or "Root Double". Have couple of free weeks, so gonna read through these VNs at last.

Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai COMPLETE!
cro-mag replied to mitchhamilton's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Congrats, man! I'll never do that though, cuz after Majikoi S i just don't want to read A parts at all. Still my fav is the very first one. "S" often has As for A-parts... I just don't feel like it. Plus main heroines are just side characters now, and my fav ones are still from the 1st game - Miyako of course takes 1st place, then Yukie. New ones are good, mostly, but not THAT good. So no, i'd better read other VNs and will treasure time i spent with first 2 games in my mind. -
You're really reckless)) I have my doubt you'll endure almost 30 volumes of that)
-
I see. Well, as i already know one part of the story shown in that show + prequel which is Fate/Zero, might as well someday watch other 2 parts, starting from UBW. Maybe i really will catch up with the series, at least with anime help, as i did with monogatari. Thanks.
-
Well i mean anime of 2006 year. There was only one of those as far as i (and internet) know. Others are movies or Fate/Zero anime or UBW. So i didn't have much of a choice as obviously i wanted to start from the beginning.
-
Seems like it's not very active topic, but anyway. What i'm reading is: 1). SAO. Finished 18 volumes (in December actually). Had been waiting for 19th volume translation (to my lang, not English), but it turned out that some other team/guy translated it. Now i have to finish it and wait for the next one. And man, i won't spoil anything, but how things ended in volume 18th is just... Amazing, i'd say, i really do want to know what'll happen next, story changed completely unpredictably. If you sit and think through some things that happened in volume 18... Man, no words. Still thinking about starting to read Progressive and Gun Gale Online arcs. All i need is time, i'd like to read them. 2). KonoSuba. Finished volume 13 not so long ago. And i have to say, i absolutely don't like what had been happening with LN since volume 6, when things began to change between web version and LN version. All humor stopped being funny and became only irritating. All characters are super annoying, someone more, someone less, but still it's just sometimes unbearable to read. I really want LN to finish as soon as possible. First 5 volumes were good, but then... It's a trash now. 3). Mahouka Koukou no Retoussei. Right now i'm reading volume 21. It's just so happened that after volume 18 translator's team kinda stuck, especially editing. And that'd been for a really long time, but then i once again (like with SAO) discovered that another team translated volumes 19-25, so i had to caught up with the series and quickly finished 19 and 20, now's time for 21. more than half is done. And what i really want to say about the series - i absolutely love the story and characters, it's very interesting to follow the story, participate (as a reader) into events etc. But on the other hand - i ABSOLUTELY HATE Miyuki!!! It became the main concern since volume 16 ( i believe) where It's totally unbearable to read. Her behavior, especially with Tatsuya, is pissing me off. She's absolutely disgusting!!! When they're together i start to hate Tatsuya as well. I understand their circumstances and relationships, but it's totally overboard behavior!! It's ridiculous!!! I wish she'd just disappear. And author's constant descriptions of how "she's beautiful as a Goddess", "all people froze when she's entered the room", "her goddess beauty", "all forgot how to breath when saw her" are just the worst. It's insane, it's so disgusting i'm feeling sick and can't find words to describe how i hate her. Just ridiculous. So i try to read moments with her as soon as possible. Other than that - all's great, both story and characters. 4). To Aru Majutsu no Index. Well, that's just infinite)) I finished 2 volumes and want to read the rest, but need time and have other things to read. Maybe when i finish all translated volumes of Mahouka, i'll continue with that. I love the story and universe author created and want to return to it, especially to Misaka, she's just the best. 5). Last Embryo. It's a continuation of "Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou desu yo?" So far i finished volume 1, and really liked it. I liked it more that i thought so still waiting for 2nd volume editing, which takes a long time for some reason. Must be team's RL problems, hope they'll finish it soon. 6). Also reading "Re: Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu" chapter by chapter. I'm reading Arc 4 of web-version, right after anime ended, and now finished ~33 chapters or so. Considering every arc consists of 100+ chapters, i still have a long way to go. But at least translation is continuing smoothly, so maybe we'll be able to read till the end and finally Also i really want to read "Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e", after watching anime. But considering the fact that we have only volume 1, 4 and 5, it seems kinda pointless to read it now. Volume 2 is stuck, english translator doesn't translate 2 and 3 at all, only starting from 4th as far as i know... It's presumably because of the show, kinda "go watch the anime to know about things"... But we all know that you can't make a good adaptation of 3 volumes into 12 episodes!! It's all sad, cuz i really like the show. Hope someday they will translate 2 and 3.
