What Video Games Are You Playing Right Now?
alexfang452 replied to solidbatman's topic in Gaming Talk
Since this post, I have been playing A LOT of Marvel Rivals. I think it is my new addiction. As for some other games, I still have not made any progress on Pizza Tower. Thankfully, I did finish Mario and Luigi: Brothership. It is a good game. The next game that I am trying to start is ENA: Dream BBQ which is free on Steam. Before starting it, I want to watch all of the ENA videos on Youtube. Sadly, my busy schedule has not given me a lot of free time. -
Since this post, I have finished my reread of Adventure of a Lifetime. As for Livestream 2, I am slowly making progress through it. My college classes keep making me busy with assignments. Fortunately, I did start another VN titled Sakura: The Jirai-kei Magical Girl. So far, it is decent. My biggest problem with it is that I only like 1 of the 3 main characters. The protagonist is fine as he will probably end up being another blank slate male protagonist. As for Sakura, she might have a good design, but I do not like her personality. She is a lazy shut-in who eats a lot and does not know what showers are. Did the writers think that the reader would be fine with a character like this because it is a girl with a nice design? I'll post a review of Adventure of a Lifetime here in the future. For now, I will say that it is just as good as I remembered it. Even though many of my thoughts on this VN did not change, I still enjoyed going through it again.

Hello. This place may not be as active as it used to be, but I hope that you enjoy your time here.

What Video Games Are You Playing Right Now?

Since this post, I have finished 0 games. I was playing the Tomb Raider Remastered Trilogy before realizing that I am playing too many games at once. Also, I have been putting a lot of time into fighting games like Multiversus (before it shuts down) and Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising. With Pizza Tower, I have not gotten P rank in the last level in World 2 yet. As for Brothership, I am getting closer and closer to the end. Once I finish it, I will go back to the Spyro Reignited Trilogy and finally finish the third game. -
Since this comment, I have FINALLY earned all of the achievements in Slay the Princess. As for Livestream 2, I am still failing to make any progress on it. Even though I think Slay the Princess is a really good VN, it is not one that I would say is a must read. It is not for people that are not a fan of going through a game many times in hopes of seeing something different. The game provides you with many options, but I can understand why this will not be excited for some. Personally, I was not bothered by it because of the voice actors and the visuals. Also, this VN did not scare me that much despite its visuals getting horrific at times. What kept me invested is the many paths this game has. I wanted to see all of the different forms that the princess could take. The next VN that I will start is Adventure of a Lifetime. Since I read through it already, this will be a reread. When I started reading VNs, this was my favorite for a couple of months before I read VNs like Saku Saku: Love Blooms with the Cherry Blossoms and World End Syndrome.

That's cool. I really need to get back to Persona 5 Royal someday. -

Since this post, I have finished the following games: - Kaze and the Wild Masks. It is a fun platformer with time trials to encourage replayability. The techniques that I have seen online from one person are impressive. - Freedom Planet. I went through the game as 2 characters. I might go back to this and play through the main story as Milla. - Pizza Tower. It is SO MUCH FUN controlling this pizza man. Currently, I am trying to get a P rank in all of the levels. Right now, I have one more level in the 2nd area. After that, I will move on to the third one. I am still playing through Brothership. The game has its ups and downs, but I'm still enjoying most of my time with it. One of its downs happened recently where one of the choices that I made in this game made the last 20-30 minutes on an island pointless. Also, I just started Tomb Raider 1 in the Tomb Raider Remastered Trilogy. I plan on going back to the Spyro Reignited Trilogy after finishing it since I did not finish the third game. -
Since this post, I have finished "Go! Go! Nippon!". Additionally, I am still reading Slay the Princess and trying to focus on Livestream 2. In the end, I would say that "Go! Go! Nippon!" is a decent VN. It was fun going through the different areas of Japan. One of my issues with it is that the romance could have been better. It is hard to believe that Makoto or Akira would fall for this guy in a week. Maybe being a VN protagonist with no eyes makes you more charming. Meanwhile, I am making good progress in Slay the Princess as I only have 35 achievements left to find. As for Livestream 2, I am having a hard time getting back to it since I am playing too many games at once.

Since this comment, I have continued playing Mario and Luigi: Brothership. The game is still enjoyable with its characters, story, and fun side quests. Currently, I am over 30 hours into it. Also, I finished Battle Chef Brigade and The Vagrant, two games that I started last year. Battle Chef Brigade's story could have used some work in its later half, but the game is hard to put down thanks to the Daily Cook-offs. -
I'll make one more post in this thread for this year. I am still reading through Livestream 2 and Slay the Princess. Also, I finished Queen Beast and started Go! Go! Nippon! ~My First Trip to Japan~. Despite its short length, I felt that Queen Beast executed its story well for the most part. I just did not like the development of the romance between the two main characters. Also, some comedic parts to this VN's story makes it hard to take it as seriously as it wants me to. So far, "Go! Go! Nippon!" is decent but enjoyable. The characters and story are fine at best, but I do like seeing the different areas of Japan. Merry Christmas everyone. And have a Happy New Year. See you all in 2025.

I just started playing Mario and Luigi: Brothership. It feels so good to play a new game from this series. -
Can someone spoil me Nanairo reincarnation Iyo's route? (spoil)
alexfang452 replied to Kirashi's topic in Visual Novel Talk
From what I saw in a walkthrough on Youtube (it has been over a year since I read this VN), Makoto wanted to maintain the status quo. Kotori confessed to Makoto after he confessed his feelings to Iyo. As stated in my earlier comment, Kotori overheard Iyo's conversation with Makoto. The next day, Kotori was gone and did not return until near the end of the route. I'm not sure if that answers your question. -

Okay. I'll put it in spoilers in case someone comes across this thread. I'll try to say as much as possible. It has been a while since I have read this VN. -
Since that post, I finished Honey*Honey*Honey and Prison Princess: Trapped Allure. Now, I am slowly progressing through Slay the Princess and Livestream 2: Escape from Togaezuka Happy Place. Honey^3 is an entertaining VN that should have been longer. I did not think it made as much use of its premise as it could have. Also, the heroine routes are too short. It is a fun VN that I would recommend if you are looking for a VN whose main purpose is to entertain you. However, it could have been better. Prison Princess: Trapped Allure continues the story of the hero, Zena, and Aria. It is like the last game where you slowly make your way through it by solving puzzles and finding items that you can use to solve puzzles. Julietta, one of the new characters introduced, might be my new favorite character from this series. This game did not give much to the hero, Aria, or Zena. The hero is just a kind, bland protagonist who does nothing when he is called a pervert. Aria and Zena do not get much other than fun interactions with other characters. The other six characters that we have to save are VERY underutilized. After you save them, they do nothing until the final battle since they are tired. At most, they have 3 unique conversations in the Waiting Area. I will give this game credit for almost making me shed a tear while I was reading through one of its endings. If it were not for that, I would have said that this game is decent at best.

What Video Games Are You Playing Right Now?

Last month, I started playing the Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series. A week and a half ago, I beat the second game in the collection. Now, I am trying to replay levels to get 100% in all of them. -
My cousin convinced me to start watching One Piece.

Since this post, I have finished Wolf Tails and started Honey*Honey*Honey. Wolf Tails surprised me with its characterization. It was not perfect as one character just told another character's entire past to the protagonist. The characterization allowed me to care more about these characters than I thought I would. Even the protagonist provided me with some intriguing information about his/her past. Also, I liked the lighting used for the character sprites and the backgrounds. Overall, I think you should read it if you are looking for something short. So far, I am about 2 hours into Honey^3. The premise of a world where the genders have to keep their distance sounds interesting. Currently, the story is focusing on Tsukasa which makes sense because of her father and her relationship with the protagonist. One thing that I appreciate is how frequently it is showing me CGs. I cannot wait to see what happens next in the story.

https://store.steampowered.com/news/?emclan=103582791471129186&emgid=4610085211694011900 On September 16th, Porcelana will be free to play instead of costing $9. I made this topic because I feel like this VN deserves more attention. One day, I found it while looking through Steam and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It has some dark subject matter, so it is not for everyone. However, I feel like you should give it a go. I would love to talk about it with more people. And it is not like that it is a long VN. It took me less than 4 hours to finish it.

Since this comment, I have finished Sucker For Love and Girls in Glasses. Sucker For Love was a fun VN to read through from start to finish. The gameplay could have been better, but it did not bother me since the VN has other things to appreciate. Some of these things include the designs of the girls and their voice actors. Another commendable thing is how each chapter was different. Chapter 1 was simple to let the player get an idea as to how this game works. Then, Chapter 2 makes things a little tougher. Chapter 3 is where things get REALLY crazy. Also, the game is not that scary. There were a couple of frightening sounds and visuals, but they never made me feel like the game was trying too hard to scare me. Overall, it is an entertaining VN that can be a little scary at times. Lastly, the protagonist may not have a name, but he does have some funny lines. 7/10. The story of Girls in Glasses goes like this. You follow Hidekazu as he starts a new spring semester at a private academy. By using the map system (it has been a while since I have read a VN with this), you can determine which heroine the protagonist will end up with. The story and characters are simple. Aside from being a bit of a marine nut and the one thing we learn about him in Kana's route, Hidekazu is just your normal protagonist. As for the heroines, you have an airheaded childhood friend, a quiet and shy bookworm, and an overworked student council president. The biggest problem that I have with this VN is the length of the routes. There is so much that could have been done with them. I was not tracking my time with these routes, but I am pretty sure it would take you at most 2-3 hours to finish one of them. Also, this VN does the thing where the other characters disappear from the story once you start a route. Despite my issues, I still enjoyed it because of the themes that were explored in the routes. Even with their short length, the themes were included in the story well. I may give it a 7/10, but I would not recommend picking it up anytime soon. There are A LOT of VNs out there. Sadly, Girls in Glasses does not do much to stand out from the others.

Your top 5 VN Characters (non-protagonist)
alexfang452 replied to Clephas's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Man. That's a good question. My choices are not ordered. Jinpou An from Saku Saku: Love Blooms with the Cherry Blossoms Yuuri from Kunado Chronicles Tooyama Sakura from Master Magistrate Ange from Mashiroiro Symphony - The most entertaining character from that VN and it is not even close. Ibaraki Rino from Parquet - A memorable character who has entertaining interactions with the protagonist. Also, she has an interesting backstory. As for the other three, I like them because of how the story changed my opinion of them. With Jinpou An, I thought she was annoying in the common route. Then, her heroine route changed my mind thanks to what I learned about her as well as her interactions with the protagonist. With Yuuri, I thought she would be rude to the protagonist 24/7. However, she warmed up to him which led to an amazing moment for her near the end of the common route. Also, her route is my favorite from Kunado Chronicles. I enjoyed watching her train with the protagonist. As for Sakura, I assumed that she was going to be the only opposing force to the protagonist's actions during trials. However, I learned that she has more sides to her as I read more. She takes her job seriously and likes sweets. Also, Sakura gets a lot of focus in the chapter that I would say is my favorite from the common route of Master Magistrate. -
Who is your favorite Visual Novel protagonist?
alexfang452 replied to Damonkala's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Narita Shinri from Hello Lady. The confidence. The personality. The dialogue. The voice. I am so glad to see a protagonist with so much personality. The only thing I do not like about Shinri is his need to grope girls. It was kinda funny the first time with the choices given before it happened. Every other time he did it made me sigh. -
After I finished Black Heaven, I decided to start Sucker For Love. I kinda wish I didn't since this VN would have been perfect to read in October. That's what I get for not looking at the Steam tags again. Anyway, I just saw one of the endings in Chapter 1. This chapter did not forget to remind me that this VN is a horror game with one moment making me jump. As for Black Heaven, I enjoyed it. The story's dark elements were not distracting, the characters were more interesting than I thought they would be (especially Lyse and the protagonist), and none of the endings gave me a feeling of complete satisfaction. Then again, after remembering the current state of their world, what ending would make me happy without feeling like a copout? I enjoyed seeing the protagonist's experience at Itzon Academy. Seeing the different ways immortality is being explored was interesting. 7/10

You don't have to read every route if you don't want to. Personally, I read every route that a VN has so I can see everything that the VN has to offer. If I did not, then I would not have read through one of my favorite heroine routes.

I am now 12 hours into Black Heaven: A Necromantic Dating Sim. Just reached the "Dating Sim" part of the game. Before that, there were a bunch of flashbacks of the protagonist's life in this academy before a plague ruined the world. Even though I enjoyed it, I did feel like we were spending too much time with them. Thankfully, the protagonist finally reaches the ruined academy where he can find the souls of his former classmates. It wasn't easy as my choices either led to death or the protagonist getting closer to one of the girls. Speaking of the girls, the story did a good job of making them likable. Even Lyse, a girl who likes to gossip and mess around, did not bother me that much. Additionally, the protagonist Uzo is actually a character. Just be warned that this VN is not for everyone. There is some scary imagery in here.
