The translation Teams Twitter is very active and based on their progress I think it's likely that the patch will really release this year. The translation patch is for the Vita so I would buy the Vita version of the game. Using a PS4 version will not work. The patching will probably work like the Diabolic Lovers patch.

This is a good question since IFI hasn't ported any otome games to Steam since Hakuoki Edo Blossoms in 2018. Cupid Parasite was released in 2021 in English and has not gotten a Steam port yet. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave up on porting otome to Steam since they apparantly don't sell well there. At least the severe price cuts on all IFI's otome games on Steam suggests that. Amnesia Memories was once 40$ on Steam and is now permanently below 10$. I saw a few people on Twitter complain about how expensive Amnesia and its fandiscs are on Switch while comparing the price with the Steam version. Saying that the games are in no way or form worth that much money. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at that... So yeah I would maybe wait until the end of the year to see if a otome Steam port get's announced (whether Amnesia or Cupid Parasite) and if that isn't the case to just get the Switch version. That way you can at least be sure if they are waiting a year for a game to be out on Switch until they port them or not.

Chou no Doku Hana no Kusari was originally released on PC in 2011 as an R18 otome game. In 2014 it first got an 17+ version on the PSP and later the PS Vita. The Switch version that was released in 2020 in Japan will now get a free update with the English translation. Coming next month the game should be available on the Eshop wolrdwide with an English text option. Physical copies will also be updated. This game had once before gotten an English mobile release by Abracadabra Games in 2020. However that release was stripped of all its voice acting and was sold at ridiculous prices (90-120 dollar for all routes without voice acting). Needless to say the mobile version did not survive long and has already shut down. So yeah this is a big win for the otome community! Finally we get the voiced and properly priced game. If I remember right it was also often asked for in the Manga Gamer surveys. This may not be the original 18+ version but considering how much Hata has been grinning at the subject, I wouldn't be surprised if something is done about that as we speak heh. Here is the setting:

Let's see... I played Seduce Me The Otome a very long time ago. All I remember is that it's about incubi, that it's surprisingly tame (my sex repulsed ass could read it in high school) and generally felt unexperienced in many ways (writing, tone, etc.). I put it in the category of an okay first otome game when you don't want to spend money. I never read the sequel. I played Retrace which is a narrative RPG Maker game. I really liked the graphics and the concept but the characters and story had no room to breathe. The pacing was WAY too fast! I played a bit of This World Unknown many years ago. I liked what I saw from the writing to the unique artstyle. It's about a nurse in the times of war in a fantasy world. I think the only reason I didnt continue playing it is because my attention span for Steam games is much lower than for handheld games (Steam deck might help when I get it... someday). Something without the visual novel tag but is almost as visual novel-like as Retrace is "Sofia?". I completed the free edition and it sure was something! I kept me very engaged and very confused. It really escalates into the absurd and the more endings I got the more confused I became lol Thankfully it was more of the entertaining kind than frustrating. I still recommend it for being very pretty and one hell of a ride. Other than those there are many games I also already have but haven't played yet. I really want to play Long Days Gone once it's complete for example. I also have Changeling but only god knows when I will get to it

I'm currently playing Amnesia Later x Crowd. I'm stilll at the beginning of Later to be precise. The game starts with a scenario about the entire cast wanting to find fireflies and going on an outing together to watch them. All this is still set while the protagonist lost her memories (in a more peaceful world it seems) so she is still mostly silent at this point. Then you can choose who to talk to which opens their actual Later scenario. In addition to the five guys you also get a scenario with the three girls and Waka, the manager. Shout out to Mine for being very cute in her little talk with the protag! Looking forward to the actual girls night out scenario I was promised I remember again why I love group dynamics with the love interests so much. There is just something very lovely about waching a bunch of adult men go ham playing at a little river. They different ways these guys managed to entertain themself is just so child-like it's wonderful! Especially the progression of how they each got tangled up in playing!

After the first English release on PS Vita and Steam in 2015 Amnesia finally made the jump to the Switch! We also get the fandiscs Later and Crowd for the first time in English in one port. The two fandisc were first ported as one game on the Vita and originally released on the PSP as two games. I'm super happy to finally play the fandiscs after 7 long years of waiting! I heard a lot about them and they have a lot of content that appeals to me: - The protagonist finally talks and has a personality! - Quality time with my best boy ura!Ukyo! - Sweet revenge against what happened in the Diamond route! I wonder if they will port the fandiscs to Steam as well, but looking at the price they sell Amnesia Memories at there... I don't have too high hopes.

I love it when VNs get an all in one Switch version that supports English! I will never run out on VNs to play on my Switch it seems lol I barely even touched all the galge or yuri on Switch I want to play! Besides AoiShiro I'm also interested in The Trolley Problem and Chigau!!. Gotta keep them in mind and hope for an English release... -
Operetta Due and Dramatic Create announced that Koezaru wa Akai Hana (en: The Crimson Flower that Divides: Lunar Coupling) will be released on Switch and Steam in Japanese, English, and Chinese next year. Here is the announcement on Twitter. Koezaru wa Akai Hana was originally released in 2012 as an 18+ Otome Game. Two years later an all-ages version (17+) was released for PSP and later for PS Vita as well. We don't know yet if the Steam version will be the original 18+ version or the all-ages version. But to be save we should expect the all-ages version. Still, as there are very few 18+ Otome Games playable in English I hope there will be a way to play the original version as well. I personally know of the game from review/summaries made by JP players. I don't know if I'll like it due to the subject matter but I will try it out! I recommend Otome Kitten's article for more detailed information. Plot summary: [source: vndb]

visual novels you consider masterpieces
Shiawase_Rina replied to ratboi's topic in Visual Novel Talk
From all otome games I have played I think Taisho x Alice could be called a masterpiece. The way it used fairy tales to tell the character's problems was really remarkable! I knew when I played Cinderella's route that it was something special. And then almost all routes hit so strong in the character and thematic department! Not to mention the plot twist which was something I never saw before, but thanks to great foreshadowing slowly managed to piece together myself. It's really a game where you have to play every single route because the truth builds on everything. Also Yurika is a one of a kind protagonist and you need to experience her! She is the furthest you can get from a self-insert protagonist lol So yeah it's freaking good! Another game which is less of an "objective" masterpiece but it's the masterpiece of my heart is Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk. This game was the most enjoyable ride I ever experienced. You know when it feels like a game was made just for you? Because it was made perfectly to your taste? This is that game for me. While I can criticize some things (too long chapter 2, should have been a kinetic novel really), the joy I felt while watching the stone (plot) run down a hill while destroying everything was indescribable! This game knew what kind of tragedy I loved most and delivered on all fronts. The active, voiced protagonist, the enemies to lovers main romance, the sheer hopelessness of the situation, the absolute drama! The stone that would not stop rolling until nothing was left. I felt like I was watching a modern Shakespeare play made for women lol The only reason why I'm sure it can't be an "objective" masterpiece is because there seem to be a lot of people who REALLY don't like this game. I am still a bit puzzled on why however... -
The newest Otome game announcements: Otomate Party 2022
Shiawase_Rina replied to HataVNI's topic in Visual Novel Talk
9. R.I.P interests me the most from the new games! I like Yuuya's artwork and quite a few of her designs here are again winners! Urban legends is also an interesting theme. I'm hoping for some horror vibes! I want to feel afraid again playing otome games. Other than that the fandisc for Virche will be interesting. So now it will focus on salvation, eh? I'm waiting for the English release next year to play the game so I only know what I heard about it second hand. The likelihood of me liking Virche is pretty high (the writer is one of my favorites + I like darker stories) so this is also something to look forward to. Virche should also sell pretty well in the west so the we don't have to worry much about not getting the fandisc in English. (Just please don't fuck the release up Aksys) Lastly the new Alice game! It's a deeply nostalgic series for me since I stumbled over the manga adaptions when I was like 13. Of course this game will probably also stay in the "never getting an English release" zone but I'm still glad the series keeps going! And Julius is back again! Long time no see grumpy clockmaker! Sadly not as a love interest tho. But just seeing his unhappy face makes me happy. I am concerned that Fujimaru-sensei will apparently stop being the artist for the games. It's not like she always was the artist of the series but she has a long history with it. I'm worried Otomate did something bad again.
