I would say start with the original Sailor Moon. Crystal's story is more compressed since it mostly follows the manga. While the 90's anime is much more drawn out, with tons of filler and monster-of-the-day, but it also gives a much fuller view of the characters' personalities and relationships. So it depends on which you prefer and how much time you want to spend.

Did you try to use a newer/older version of the emulator to move past the loading screen? Usually that and/or turning off Hardware Transform fixes most of Dagan ronpa problems.

Some quests give them, you get some while going through story and from some colisseum fights i believe. It does seem a bit lacking compared to the first game though.

Conquest ending was the best ending. just kidding
