Ya know the MB is supposed to be the 2nd thing you pick, lol. Pick your processor first, choose an MB that works with it, find a compatible case with good airflow, and then grab the components that are compatible with your MB. Also, this site is nice for building a PC. https://pcpartpicker.com/ It can help to avoid compatibility mistakes and even gives you a price total estimate for all the parts you want. I highly recommend registering an account here too since you maintain a list of the parts you bought for reference later on (which'll probably be nice to have for future upgrades).

I can think of 69 reasons why this is weird. -
Oh no, I was talking about oldschool consoles. Emulating DS games is probably a terrible idea.

Go pirate a bunch of 5th/6th gen console games and emulate them on PC instead? That's a good way to fill in your free time (assuming you get any). Btw, I found a really neat article with useful TED Talk videos for college students. Most of the ideas featured here are pretty great (especially the procrastination vid)! https://www.student.com/articles/11-ted-talks-students-must-watch/

Doesn't really eliminate it, but having a list online does minimize the risk. There's still a chance something could go haywire and everyone loses access to that list.

(8/1 update) Results of the honorifics survey
Kenshin_sama replied to HonorificsSurvey's topic in Visual Novel Talk
It's not unusual though, and has been done for years. The English dub for FLCL was well received for its faithfulness to the original script even with the inclusion of honorifics. -
(8/1 update) Results of the honorifics survey
Kenshin_sama replied to HonorificsSurvey's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Huh, is there any to see the results of the survey? Kinda curious to see where the votes are going. I'm personally in favor of keeping honorifics. I don't think they do anything to hurt the script at all, and they are used in dubs. One of the earliest dubs I've heard use honorifics was FLCL (which did have a TV broadcast in the U.S.), and it didn't take me long at all to grasp their meaning since it can be easily derived by tone and social structure. In fact, I was actually kinda interested in the learning experience that came with it. But yeah, that's just my opinion. I have nothing against translators leaving honorifics out and will gladly read their works regardless, but I don't appreciate reading all these comments trying to stigmatize a minor preference in entertainment media. I'm not saying you shouldn't make your opinion known, but you gotta admit, it's a little harsh to associate this preference with derogatory terms such as 'weeb' or 'lazy.' It's kinda like stating that your opinion matters more than those of whom you disagree with (which may have usefulness in science, but it's a little absurd in entertainment). There are reasonable arguments on both sides to justify either opinion. It might be beneficial to understand the driving force behind opposing views and keep an open mind. This doesn't need to be toxic. -
I'm having a lot of fun with Happy Sugar Life. Had some Mirai Nikki vibes here and there, though with a slightly different angle to its storytelling approach. Not much to say about it so far since I only watched one episode, but it's been a pretty wild ride! Not sure why I went in expecting anything different from a video game adaption, but Satsuriku no Tenshi is a definite flop. The pacing is bad enough for even me to notice it, there's almost no psychological tension where there should be, and even Okamoto can't save the character he's voicing from looking stupid. I couldn't stomach more than 14 minutes of this anime, so I'll be giving it a pass. Grand Blue is fairly amusing! I've heard good things about the manga, and it does seem to carry over pretty nicely in the adaption from what I've seen so far on the first episode. The facial expressions in this anime are top notch!

Oh really? It seems fine to me. What I mainly about it is how you can get updates for ongoing anime you're watching whenever a new episode comes out. Granted, I do have RSS to fall back on so it's not too bad, but it's still nice to have an extra source, especially since RSS doesn't tell you the specific episode you're currently on. I'll give Taiga a look sometime though. I usually update my list every time I watch anime, but I wouldn't mind having something like that on hand to automate the process. Thanks!

Anilist is a pretty solid alternative. Haven't tried anything else just yet, but I do like how the list is formatted there. https://anilist.co/

That's great, I'm happy to hear that! I've been in a surprisingly great mood myself today, which is both rare and somewhat off-putting, but pleasant nonetheless. And don't beat yourself up too hard; you're not nearly as annoying as you think you are. In fact, you're really not annoying at all. And if you ever feel the need to post about your frustrations, just know you have my blessing. Seriously, it's actually pretty therapeutic in a way. Yeah, that's been the key focus of my anxiety therapy. You can do as much as you can with your body's chemistry to minimize anxiety levels, but your mind is still the primary barrier to improving psychologically. The one thing I've observed from every therapist I've worked with is the push to combat negative thinking, which hasn't always been easy for me. When you've been brought up in a difficult family and raised to doubt every single one of your actions, it's hard to just turn that upside down and combat them with positive thinking. But see, I think I might've finally made something of a breakthrough. So after countless failed attempts to cope with the many difficulties I've been having to deal with lately, my therapist came up with a solution that I think I can work reasonably well with. Up until now, we've mostly been discussing my lifestyle and what I can do to make it more structured so that I can get a better handle on stress, but that has been completely impossible for me due to a certain lack of resources, my grandma being impossible to reason with, and my severe lack of ambition. So instead of helping me to plan for things that I can only make work in an ideal situation, she decided to shift that focus to my mentality when coping. In the middle of our last session, I went into a little more depth on what my thoughts are during times of stress, and from those talks, we both came to the conclusion that I'm way too hard on myself. This is due in part to the amount of pressure I've had put on me by my father, and pushed to extremes during while I was in the Army. Whenever I make any kind of mistake, or something doesn't go as intended, I have it in my head that I am a miserable failure who will never be able to function well in society. When I get into that kind of state, it's difficult to just tell myself to "think positively" as my previous therapists have suggested to me. But here's the thing, that message is far too broad for me to use effectively, and I just can't bring myself to reason with my emotions since I can't pinpoint the thought I need during a moment of panic. Well, thanks to my therapist, I've been mulling over my anxieties and trying to come up with something specific I can use before things start to heat up, and I think I managed to come up with something! At first, I was taking a swing with "I'm doing the best I can" that my therapist provided to me as a something to center my thoughts on, but I found something that better resonates with me. Now, whenever I start to get hung up over my failures, I tell myself "I'm better today than I was yesterday" (not to be taken literally). That thought helps bring to focus all the things I've been able to accomplish and how they outweigh all the bad stuff. Not to say I couldn't have used those thoughts before, but it was difficult to get myself in that frame of mind without a proper trigger. And now that I've found my trigger phrase, I feel I can finally make reasonable progress towards a better coping system. Granted, I still haven't achieved an ideal system just yet, but I do think I've at least made some headway for getting myself out of this cycle.

And just when I was about to consider asking for sleep meds. Well... maybe. My doctor hasn't failed me yet! Yeah, I learned just about everything from my sleep therapist, but she was telling me to stay out of bed until I'm sleepy, whereas Dr. Mike suggested staying out of bed for 15 minutes. I'm gonna try his method since my sleep therapist's method doesn't help me to stay asleep. I think another reason I'm waking up is the pain in my lower back, which I'm trying trying to resolve by taking more frequent breaks from my desk and moving around more often. I should probably also start using a pillow or something since my chair is not holding itself upward very well anymore (it leans back a little bit). I'm still trying to find a good sleep wedge for better support on my back while resting too, but it's hard to find one for a full-sized mattress since bed wedge manufacturers apparently only make them for twin, queen, and king. With twin being too narrow for any back sleeper to rest comfortably and queen being too wide to fit my bed, I might just have to buy a queen and have a tailor cut it shorter. Huh, I've never heard of that before. I was doing something similar up until now, but I didn't follow that particular break format. Thanks for the tip!

WSJ does have a bit of an agenda. Better to your news fix from Bloomberg or Reuters. They're the only real news get anymore. -
Confession: Okay, so I managed to get my learner's permit yesterday with 40/48 questions answered correctly on the test. Holy yikes the test here in Florida was way harder than the one I took for Texas. I was only allowed to get up to 10 questions wrong, so I was getting a little shaky once I got to 6, and the other two I answered incorrectly out of sheer nervousness (at which point I started deep breathing exercises). I almost failed the vision test too, but only because there were a couple letters that were easy to mistake for others. Probably didn't help at all that I haven't had my glasses updated in a few years... Yeah, I guess it was something of a miracle that I even got my permit in the first place, lol. And don't worry, I will update my glasses soon! In other news, I discovered a cool new way to boost my exercise by reintroducing caffeine back into my daily routine! I had given it up in the past when I was desperate to get my sleep under control because I was so used to drinking it in the afternoon and didn't like the idea of drinking it in the morning (I just didn't feel like it). But eventually the sleep deprivation I've been experiencing has hurt my ability to concentrate on studying due to lack of energy. After watching Doctor Mike's video on sleep, I got the idea to start drinking tea again to see if it could help at all, and it ended up helping me in ways I wasn't expecting it to! It was thanks to that extra energy I from that tea that my performance in both studying and even exercising has improved. It worked so well, in fact, that I went from running on the elliptical for 47 minutes at a moderate pace to 65 minutes at a slightly elevated pace. In fact, I wasn't even tired by the end of it either, so I think I'll try running that with a little more resistance tomorrow. Studying has also been a little more tolerable, though I'm still having issues concentrating for longer than 20 minutes. Maybe I should take up meditation or something.

Hmm, I wonder if I can get to be like Kirito playing this game. Probably not, but I'll give it a shot anyhow.
