my experience with if my heart had wings and katawa shoujo are the same as some of these entries, especially with kotoris route in if my heart had wings. but im gonna bring up one no one really mentions and thats hitomi: my step-sister, this one sticks with me for negative reasons. so the other routes were a bit dark before going for the main step-sister route but nothing too bad. some bad endings were crazy but i just saw them as nothing but bad ends to the routes. however, none of those endings prepared me for the experience with the step-sisters and titular characters route, hitomi. the common route was nice because it was the first and still to this day the only vn i read with a step-sister route where it starts at when she joins the family. at first shes very reserved but starts to grow closer and more comfortable with the mc. its all very sweet seeing her smile and really start to enjoy his company as they get along. THEN the route takes a dark turn as the mc starts to rape hitomi.... yeah, i didnt expect it to take this turn. i didnt know about vndb a the the time so this was a real shock to me. and he really starts to do some fucked up shit that feels like its coming from nowhere such as nearly drowning her, leaving her in a public mens restroom to get fucked. i kept reading to hopefully a decent good end but of course, nothing made up for his terrible actions in the end, even if they lived happily ever after. this one sticks with me to this day for how shocking it was for him to all of a sudden do these things to her and how it took such a turn. and again, only vn ive ever read where it starts at when you get a new step sister and they grow closer.

i was a dragon all along... april fools! so yeah, with it now being april fools, have you been bamboozled yet? i only remembered it was april fools because i went on discord and it told me they completely deleted light mode. could be true for all i know but they had a big announcement over it so most likely not true. being april fools made me question things such as a software i use fucking up on me caused me to think instantly "IS THIS AN APRIL FOOLS JOKE, OR AM I ACTUALLY HAVING AN ISSUE!?" im very cynical when it comes to april fools these days. maybe my youthful self is fed up with it all, maybe ive been fooled once over it but i just eeeh, i just dont like it. an example is a patch for a vn that people liked where the they said it hd'ed the cgs. turns out it was just an april fools prank! SO FUNNY!

i would like to add something to the argument of not being able to fully enjoy or have an opinion on a language youre not fluent in. what if the language they provided for your spoken language is just awful? is that better by default just because you cant understand the other language at all? it is the same argument as recommending someone something and saying "oh, you should probably watch it in french, its original language" and they tell you that you dont know what youre talking about because you dont know the language and they settle for the awful dubbbed version. watching something with its original language is better like 90 percent of the time as there are also a lot going on behind the scenes that we dont take into account, such as directing, multiple takes, and in the case of animation sometimes theyll take actions the voice actor does and put it into the animation of the character theyre playing.

im not saying every company you want to support you need to do a deep thorough background check but when such scandalous stories pop up from the company you shouldnt just ignore it, as thats basically you saying "im okay with how they lie to its customers and abuse their employees."

why take one sentence from my post? i do go on to explain why its not just fanboying over japanese dub. and, i do know enough of the japanese language and how they speak to have an opinion. no, im not a native speaker or a translator for the language but that doesnt mean i know nothing about what im talking about. i wouldnt mind if you presented something that went against anything i said but you basically just say "you cant have an opinion on the matter." while ignoring everything else i said.

by that logic than we as a community would have to ignore the numerous allegations against sp such as abuse of its employees and ripping off backers for their kickstarters. why support a company that doesnt give a shit about its employees or its customers so long as they get paid?

yes, and its not just fanboying for the japanese version. there are english dub versions taht are on the same level or better than japanese dubs such as ghost stories, golden boy, full metal alchemist brotherhood. BUT the reason japanese dubs are better is because there is an entire industry surrounding it. voice acting is huge in japan with video games, anime, singing sometimes where a role in a hentai could be used as a starting point for some big name voice actor. these actors need to be the top of their game and deliver the best performance possible while it seems like in america we're having a hard time filling a quota.

With any medium there are bound to be certain similarities between works in that medium and vn's are no exception. the heroine with an unnamed disease with no cure except the mc's massive, thick, love, the walking in on a girl while shes changing, the running into a heroine down the hall, all that jazz. which one are you just sick of seeing these days? ill tell you mine, the unnamed disease one! heroine is sick with something that is never named but its going to kill her one day. she never takes meds, she goes to school everyday, pretty much does everything she can to make sure this disease kills her! that or just bad writing to make you feel sympathy for this girl. that and the useless mc. sure he does some good things every now and again, run in to save the girl in a fight that he has no chance in, tell the girl nice things so she instantly falls in love with him. maybe its the instant fall in love thing i hate. like, have you never had anyone of the opposite sex be nice to you? well, those are a few of mine, how about yours?

can confirm what phantom said, about half way with the common route, maybe a little less. first choice will be a few more hours from where youre at. if you have the anime sprites version, you have the version with hte little sister route which is accessed in the main menu. wouldnt recommend, as for loli little sister routes go, this one bugged even me.
