Well, the issue is without reading/watching the original you are only left with bare fanservice and not much of a story. You would have no clue as to why people act that way. The anime is pandering only to people who have read the VN and not the general audience.

Yeah, i agree she is underwhelming in her route. Kinda makes sense if you consider her main personality being a unrequited love character. Once that is lost, she seems to have lost her best defining trait.

Well, you could reword and let those who are fluent in Japanese language and culture pick up the joke from the audio. It'll be a slight annoyance for them but it's a compromise.

Well, i guess the joke on wanko's name is harder to explain and yet everyone still uses wanko. So maybe it is fine? Personally i'm fine with either as the i have a certain standard of japanese knowledge. Although it's not enough to be able to understand difficult kanjis to read the game raw. That and reading moonrunes make me sleepy.
