A new engine for Valve games will be nice. Portal 2 was simple but pretty and of course Source physics are done well somewhat. I'll be looking forward to this. And praying for all that is good in the world for HL3 to not be released with it. The butthurt will be glorious.

I was horribly bored about halfway through the first one and have no intention of going back to finish it. I bought the second one because I bet I can resell the CE for a bit of extra cash and I'll no doubt buy the shooter one. So naturally I'll buy this too, but never play it and just brag about having it. Its just a very annoying game that ends up being more tedious than fun with a story that is extremely sub par and overly convoluted.

If we're being honest, the games aren't really that good. But they do have their ease and mindless fun aspects going for them. mk.2 was a lot of fun simply because I could come home from a long day of work, and spend an hour of mindless, easy grinding in it while being mildly entertained by some of the more subtle video game jokes. I find that the writing can be a bit much though. Like, "Here is the joke. See the joke? Do you really see the joke? Here is the joke again? Did you see what we did?" Toning it down a notch would be nice.

I like and hate this series. I do give Idea Factory some credit for steadily improving each new entry into the main series despite yearly releases. For example, the second game is such a massive improvement from the first, and Victory is now the basis for the Re;Birth series which remakes the mainline games. At the same time, we've seen how many of these games get released now? This is like the Japanese, moe, ecchi, JRPG equivalent of CoD
