What do you like most about your favorite genre?

I'm sure we all have something we really like about certain genres and other things, but didn't see a thread on it so, here.

 

I think my favorite thing about comedy anime, is the hilarious faces the characters make, they get me every time.

 

Some examples:

 

Plastic Memories.

Comedy wise? Nichijou is da best. But my favorite genre for anime is romance, and what I like most about that is seeing two characters build a relationship, develop, and get close to each other, and whatever antics may follow.

My favorite genre would have to be Mecha. Regular and Super. They're both pretty great. I also like seeing the designs of the robot.

The pilots too.

So I pretty much just find them to be really damn epic.

In my particular favorite genre, science fiction/fantasy, I like how it uses it's unique settings and stories to question the watcher's morals and beliefs. Of course it can be done in other genres, but it is alot tricker to do.

The episode Brain Scratch from Cowboybebop that asks the question if people have become to reliant on tv and other media to tell them what to believe and think.

In Psycho pass there are a multitude of ideas, such as how far should people go to protect themselves and what makes one qualified to judge another as evil.

Fav Genre huh?.... There is no doubt the one and only for me.....and its such a rare genre that there is a little show of it because in the anime world....what I like can be pretty useless compared to mechs,magic, and supernatural forces .....anyways, BEHOLD ,HUMAN BALLISTIC WEAPONRY

Also Like mechs because they can shoot large caliber guns,lasers do not count sadly....but missiles and artillery does because they contain gun powder.

My favorite is probably horror or psychological thrillers.  Just something about the dark atmospheres bring out emotion in me more easily, and have me on the edge of my seat anticipation.  I like the oh my god, or wtf creepy feelings I get from them or seeing character reactions when they lose control of their usual self image (it can be interesting to see the transformation).    I'm not sure why, but I like gore & blood in anime.. it adds to the crazy and seriousness to stuff that might happen (like no one is safe).

 

I might be a bit messed up, lol.

I also like things with intense feels like Clannad because I guess I like being depressed.

Hmm, fav genre.... hard question :/ But I have to pick deconstruction (like Madoka Magica and evangelion), and by extension, the horror genre and horror elements in shows. 

Why?

I'm a sadistic bastard is why.

 

I'm also horribly fond of shows like Attack on Titan and Tokyo Ghoul, but I'm not sure what genre they come under.

My favorite genre is definitely romance, but more of a shoujo/josei romance. I love heartfelt and meaningful relationships between characters, especially if developed well. I don't mind if there isn't a happy ending, such as with most Key titles adaptions (yes, I know, they are meant to be nakige but they have a bit of utsuge flavor)
