The VN you saw is (iirc) some kind of spin-off.

Season 1 is worth watching, it's fun and entertaining. Season 2 is shit, but that's, like, my opinion, man.

According to what I've seen/read the VN is different.

I have heard from people that the VN trolled people and made Kirino just say,"just joking!" when she said she loved the brother. I cannot confirm this for certain, though.
