anonymoose Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Hey all, I got the Fuwanovel version of this game around a year ago and haven't started playing it until recently. My biggest issue right now is that the game will not save. I think it has to do with the lack of a save data folder/.sav files anywhere. Does anyone know how I can get the game to save, or will I have to install the game in order to properly save? Quote
Narcosis Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I'm not familiar with the Fuwanovel release of this game, but what I know is that you definately need to run it with administrator privileges; it's mostly associated with the game itself not being able to get access to write or read data due to the limitations imposed on the non-privileged applications. You might consider to run it in compatibility mode as well, since Gadget Trial is a fairly old game and might not work properly on the new systems; I can't offer much help, since I played the game years ago on XP and had no issues whatsoever. What system are you running it on? If I remember correctly, Fuwanovel releases were provided to work out of the box and didn't require any additional work except from unpacking. There should be some readme's included in the package as well, might want to check and see whether they contain a solution to your problem. Quote

The ReadMe mostly contained just basic FAQs about the game itself. But yeah, I'll try running it in compatibility mode for XP pack 2 and with admin privileges. I'm running this game on 8.1 and everything is working fine except save features. Thanks for the answer! EDIT: Running it in compatibility mode for both XP Service Packs 2 and 3 + run as administrator doesn't seem to work... Quote
GLM4475 Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Hmm, I guess it's not related to admin privilege though, I played it using guest account and I could load/save just fine, the save folder should be in your game's folder, recheck your download or just make a blank save folder. And if you already have the folder, check whether it is read-only. If it is, uncheck the read-only box in the folder's properties. Quote

I'm really bad/inexperienced with how computers work so I tried making a save folder but I'm not sure how I can make the game save to that folder? Quote
Narcosis Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I'm so incomprehensible... I actually still have my Gadgett Trial on the HDD. I'm not entirely sure how your folders look, but originally the folder with save states was simply called "save" and it's located within the game's main folder (as in: "X:\...\KumasanTeam\GADGETT\save"): I finished Gadgett Trial as well and luckily, I used to save on every mission. I can upload you a working save state file; it won't entirely fix your problem, but you might see whether it accepts overwriting. Grab it here. Just pick any of the files (each of them corresponds to a mission in numerical order, I'm only missing saves from mission 3, 7 and , place them in the "save" folder and check if that helps. anonymoose 1 Quote

Making a new folder labeled "save" and unchecking the "Read Only" box worked! The save files you uploaded worked as well! Thank you so much. Quote
