Getsuya Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Hey guys I`m having a really horrible bad week at work, with a coworker basically doing super petty things to try and make me look bad in front of everyone and seizing every opportunity she can take to belittle me or throw me under the bus. I`m really stressed out and I`ve already had one stress breakdown due to this job and I`d prefer not having a second one. Soon it won`t matter because I`m leaving this job in a few weeks anyway and it`s not like I can`t ride out petty crap like what she`s pulling, I just need to get unwound a bit. So I`m asking for your recommendations for the happiest, friendliest, funnest, smiliest game you know of (please no joke recommends) that can either be for PC or any system PRIOR to the PS3/Wii/360 generation (since I have no way of accessing newer games). VNs are fine too. Untranslated, translated, either one works. I just need to play something cute and fun and happy and enjoy it and forget all about work for this week. I need these at like emergency speed please. Thanks. Quote
joehawks12 Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 locoroco 1 and 2. Psp. and feel better eh? if you don't have a psp, download the emulator ppsspp, and torrent/download the roms. no matter how old your computer is, it should be able to run it. Getsuya 1 Quote
Zodai Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Yikes, shit. Good luck. Running through my thoughts the closest I can find to happy-go-lucky would be Proteus, maybe Saints Row if you stretch the definition. Pure comedy games aren't very common. Cherry Tree High Comedy Club is a sort of adventure game with a standard VN/anime aesthetic. Maybe something like Rayman Legends if you don't mind buying a Ubisoft game oh god the horror it's eating my soul. Stanley Parable isn't quite cute/funny but it's quite humorous and one of the more intelligent games out there. Would I am Bread count? Lastly I'll throw Antichamber out there as well - it's far from happy-go-lucky but it's minimalist and confusing in a way that pulls you in quite well. It can help - that, and it's currently on a steam sale for 2$, 21 hours remaining. Maybe this will do? Perhaps? All of these are on Steam but since you live in Japan I can't guarantee they aren't region-locked in some form. Just take that note. Getsuya 1 Quote
Getsuya Posted June 16, 2015 Author Posted June 16, 2015 Thanks guys. I also remembered Gurumin (basically a cutesy version of Ys) and the Popolocrois games that are super adorable and fun. I'll just pop these in while watching some mindless happy shoujo anime and I should be just fine in a day or so. Quote
Funyarinpa Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 The only thing that comes to mind is reading Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, but it's a book. Getsuya 1 Quote
Deep Blue Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 up for an adventure point and click game? then play deponia, it's one of the most hilarious and funniest adventure game out there. Getsuya 1 Quote
Nimbus Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Play Okami, though if that's too serious for you then play Klanoa: Door to Phantomile on the PS1. Getsuya 1 Quote
Getsuya Posted June 16, 2015 Author Posted June 16, 2015 Feeling much better now. Gurumin, Locoroco and Wild Arms 3 were good ways to pass the evening. Hopefully things go better at work tomorrow so I don't have to keep doing this every day. Quote
Narcosis Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Habanero-tan House should cheer you up. Getsuya 1 Quote
solidbatman Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 The Atelier: Arland games are very upbeat and happy with Rorona likely being the most upbeat and positive. Meruru comes a close second in terms of cheerfulness and Totori in third, but only because the story in Totori is a little more serious than the other two. Still a wildly upbeat game. Getsuya 1 Quote
Getsuya Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 Another crappy day to unwind from. I really wish I had my 3DS. That system is the best for feel-good games. Kirby and Mario are classics but then it also has stuff like Animal Crossing. It also has Disney Magical Kingdom which is seriously the absolute best feel good game ever. Nothing makes me feel less stressed than dressing up in Disney-themed clothes and then going around high-fiving all my favorite Disney characters and inviting them to tea at my cafe (which was named Berlioz). I really miss that game, but I don't really want to buy anything right now (especially a big purchase like a New 3DS) because I always tend to regret purchases I made while stressed out. Quote
Nimbus Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Alternatively you could play Dark Souls as a reminder that things could be worse. Quote
