Darklord Rooke Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 31 books? Wow, that beats the longest fantasy saga I've seen so far ("The Wheel Of Time" or whatever it's called). I'll check it out sometime(I don't like fantasy much though). Quote
RinXD Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 My favourite author is Steve Alten he writes amazing sci fi books Quote
sub-zer0 Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Books, I had read quite a number of them When I was younger and spare time and did not own a gaming computer, lol. In those years, my favorites were: Robinson Crusoe, Robin hood, and the Three musketeers. In the past few years, besides what was required from English , I read the halo books( the first 6 originals before the bs about forerunners came out), The Looking Glass Wars by: Frank Beddor( It is a Fantasy remake of the original Alice in wonderland and totally worth the read) Just finished reading the 2 books from The Kingkiller chronicles by: Patrick rothfuss, it was a really good read and I am looking forward to the next book that comes out, and while waiting for it, I just ordered The chronicles of the black company by:Glen Cook from amazon to pass time( in about 8-9 hours from when you read this message, I will be once again in the dorms and will be bored from being away from my gaming rig and having to work on schoolwork ). I Have read the comments here and most of the books are too well-known so therefore does not pique my interest. I am a fan of Sci-Fi and Fantasy, so if you guys have anything good, just shoot Quote
Funyarinpa Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 I'm enjoying Dune, definitely better than LotR so far but definitely not a masterpiece (like, say, Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy or Battle Royale). Quote
Asterisk Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 I have been a long-time classical Sci-Fi fan. I recently got through rereading one of my favorite books of all time The Time Machine by H.G. Wells. And am doing a read through of The Martian Chronicles. Quote

Chewy Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 I used to read a lot and I mean A LOT but I find it weird that I never had a definite favourite. Though I can tell you if I found a book good or bad. I tend to like to read fantasy or supernatural. I also read a little slice of life and horror but not much overall. Quote

I've always been a sucker for Wells' and Bradbury's writing styles so I'm not the most unbiased source but I think it can be worth a shot Quote
ezyo22 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I read alot of psychology books my favorite one is the social animal for david brooks B0X0R 1 Quote
AnonP Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 I'm not picky when it comes to genres. I read just about any books both fiction and non-fiction. My favorites are books by Haruki Murakami like After Dark and The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles. @Ezyo: Oh, I have a copy of that in my shelf xD Quote
B0X0R Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 I read alot of psychology books my favorite one is the social animal for david brooks Going to have to check that one out when I have the time. I'm currently reading The Lucifer Effect. It was written by the creator of the Stanford Prison And Experiment. It's a very depressing read, but it truly does have lots of interesting observations and theories. Quote
BookwormOtaku Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Just read Deadpool: Dracula's Gauntlet; probably the best Deadpool comic I've read so far as the humor was funny, the story easy to follow without any need of knowledge of prior Deadpool stories, and they managed to make a pretty good story of one of the craziest Marvel characters getting into a relationship that's believable but works with the character. Funyarinpa Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Anyone got any very good actiony books?? Battle Royale Quote
Chewy Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 http://lmgtfy.com/?q=battle+royale Thank you... I just expected more under the same title. The sarcasm is appreciated none the less. Why does this remind me of btooom? Quote
Funyarinpa Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Somewhat unrelated, but apparently Iron Maiden has made a song for Frank Herbert's Dune: Quote
Tohka Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Well i read the Twilight series, Enid Blyton Series, Malory Towers and right now i am into Light Novels like Date a Live ,Absolute Duo, Golden Time and No game no Life.... Quote
suikashoujo Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 I just finished reading Fight Club. I don't know what I expected going into it, but definitely wasn't that. Now I'm ready to watch the movie. Quote
Funyarinpa Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Reading The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin. There are probably a lot of profound themes and thought-provoking questions under the hood, but I'm not seeing them so I am not enjoying it very much. Quote
sub-zer0 Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Right now Im pausing my chronicles to read Metro 2033, the game is so freaking good and the story is very well presented, so I decide to read the book and for anyone that liked the metro game series, I recommend you read it, since it has a ton of background information , more in depth character personality, and a lot of things explained in details, It is a really good read for those who enjoyed Metro game series Quote

Another good novel inspired game series is the Witcher series. I only ever read 'The Last Wish' and 'Sword of Destiny', the two short story collections that defined Geralt which are both great. Got turned off by the first of the "Blood of Elves' novel series a few chapters in, as it felt pretty standard and I wasn't in the mood for it. Fully intend to make myself read through the series and play through the games again in prep for my Wild Hunt playthrough when it comes out. Quote

BookwormOtaku Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Pretty far into "The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss and am enjoying the story so far. I am liking the setup of each book being a day's worth of Kvothe telling his story and I am getting curious to how things are going to lead into what's the present time when the interludes take place.
