Text hook help

Hey guys, I'm currently trying to play a Chinese visual novel and I'm running into issues with the text hook. All of the programs I've tried are not generating any hooks(if that's what they're called). I've gone so far as to follow a debugging guide but even that isn't finding the text that's being displayed in the game. Can someone give me a hand please? Thanks!

Which visual novel do you need helpwith exactly? Also, are you using a Chinese dictionary? A Japanese won't work for obvious reasons.

It's called 翌の夏. It's a fan made follow up of a game called morenatsu.

As for the dictionary, all of the stuff I'm finding says its for Japanese games because hen I search for "translate Chinese visual novel" it comes back with results for translating Japanese games into Chinese rather than Chinese game to English.

You might be able to use something like http://cc-cedict.org/wiki/, as the dictionary files used by text hookers are also EDICT stuff. I'm not sure if it'll work all that well though. Search used was "chinese-english dictionary". Try searching for "chinese text hook" as well.

Hmmm...I'm looking at the website but I'm not seeing if its able to pull the text from the game window for me to translate it. Am I missing that section or does it not do that?

I was thinking that you wanted to use ITH though, and ITH can be used with a dictionary file to look things up. I'm not sure how well it works with Chinese, though. That said you can use google/bing/whatever machine translation I guess, but in general that's just not recommended... ah well.

Hmmm...not sure what you mean with using ITH with a dictionary. This is the first time I've ever used a text hook to play a visual novel and my second ever visual novel(first one was morenatsu). So if I download the thing in your first link it will allow ITH to find the Chinese text in the game and let me translate it from there?

Also the second link you posted, the guide, I did try that one but ITH wouldn't find the hook for the game so I wasn't able to do it.

I did actually end up playing it but I had to use my phones Google translate app and took pictures of the text which translated it for me from the picture but it had lots of issues with that and some times didn't even get all of the words so it was kinda confusing to work with.
