XReaper Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 After reading the announcement & literally crying my eyes out, i think i´m now somewhat ready to face the harsh reality. They offered us some news regarding the upcoming YU-NO remake, set a site up, listed the voice cast (which isnt bad) &........*buhhuuuu went with the glorious idea of turning Yu-No into an eushully elf......*sobhttp://gematsu.com/2015/07/yu-no-remake-official-website-launchedhttp://yu-no.jp/ So what are your thoughts & (first) impressions on what awaits us? Kawasumi Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Cant wait. Since I found out about it recently I decided to wait for when this remake is done to read it. So I cant really come with any criticism about the new one Quote
hussien-11 Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Interesting, I will wait for this version ( didn't play the original ). Quote
Conjueror Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I like the new YU-NO look, but Kana looks kinda weird. I liked the original visuals very much so I have mixed feelings about this, but I'll probably get it anyway. XReaper and Lexyvil 2 Quote
Nosebleed Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 "Platform still undecided" Please 5bp don't go console exclusive again, nobody in Japan wants an Xbox One, even if you put your new games on it. Kawasumi, Crayten, Funyarinpa and 2 others 5 Quote
Crayten Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 If this gets no windows release i will be pretty sad Quote
Zantax Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Ayumi-san won't be voiced by Inoue Kikuko? This remake will be crap ;p Also when Yuki turned into girl O.o' Quote
starlessn1ght Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 It looks like Leafa from SAO. This brings back memories... Quote
Soulless Watcher Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Tried the original a while back, but I had trouble juggling the glowing balls. Hopefully the remake will make it easier to manage the balls. Quote
XReaper Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 hopefully they wont go console only, cause that would definitely frustrate many people eagerly awaiting this to happen for years. & for them visuals, yeah like conjurer said i also liked the olden ones abit more, same as with tsukime, though they now look fresh & cool, i find them lacking their charme from before. especially when looking at eriko sensei, i somehow dont get that kinky milf vibe, hope you get what i try to say... Quote
kingdomcome Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 It better be on PC... I didn't read the original, partly because of how aged it is. Quote
Decay Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 lmao at Yuki's design. I get it, his old character design doesn't work past the '90s, but WTF? And XReaper, Yu-No was always an elf. Also remember that not everyone here has read the first one. Some of those characters' ears were more rounded than the others but they were all elf-ish. Quote
XReaper Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 yo but she didnt look that much like one, i get some eushully vibes from the new optik.them other humans were like some archaic predessors to the current ones with minor to mayor visible differences (failed ones), but i never saw them like elves. & yuki is real hardcore shit, no words. only mios & ryuzojis new characters seem really fitting Quote
Decay Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Again, you really need to remember that not everyone has played this game. Please use spoiler tags to discuss spoilers. Quote
XReaper Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 personally i do think it will get an english/whatover translation sooner than later, considering the overall hype based on the yet existing fanbase. but regardless the decision, i would be pretty unhappy if its only going to get an all ages version, cause i simply cant imagine the game/plot without some scenes. And mean NOT for the sake of fappness! Quote
Crayten Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 How likely do you guys think this is to be either fan translated or localized? I was interested in the original, but I'd prefer the one that looks like it wasn't made in 1996 if at all possible. Before we talk about a fan translation lets hope that its get a PC release... XReaper Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 dont know about elf involved in this, but not seeing them listed makes me think they´ve given/sold their license to 5pb/mages. Quote
johnnysasaki Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 they should have kpet the original voices. Most of them are still pretty active... Quote
Narcosis Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I won't cry if this will end up as a console only exclusive. People should pick up the original. Quote
Vokoca Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 "Platform still undecided" Please 5bp don't go console exclusive again, nobody in Japan wants an Xbox One, even if you put your new games on it. Haha, I think we all know how this is going to go. Best brace for the worst and wait for that timed exclusive. That said, I'm really looking forward to this. Didn't have a chance to play the first one yet, and depending on how this pans out, I might just skip it entirely. Quote
Nerathim Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Man, those new characters sprites, it seems that not only Tsukihime suffers from severe regression. I don't even want to think about the new soundtrack, YU-NO's main composer is dead and I doubt his genius could be easily reproduced. And "remastering" the old 16-bit music would make it lose its appeal. As for the translation, the TLWiki's one is already great. Lexyvil 1 Quote
Decay Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 I almost prefer the Tsukihime remake's new art, but the art here is worse. I still don't think it's awful or anything but I don't think it really fits the tone of the story and characters. Quote
Lexyvil Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I can't believe I missed out on this thread last week or two. This is my favourite game. They probably won't do it justice. I'm positive the remake won't be as good as the original, knowing the writer and composer have passed away, and I hear the drawing style kind of changed: almost nothing today beats classic-anime-style from decades ago in my opinion~ (about that, do you guys know any modern works that tries to recreate the 80's or 90's style?) About my thoughts on the Remake: The Good: The remake could potentially raise the awareness of the initial version to newcomers, making the original Yu-No more popular. The Bad: Newcomers will likely play the seemingly degraded remake first before looking for/trying out the Original that made it a classic to begin with. I can't judge yet, but their first experience might turn out less epic that way. I really want to look at the visuals, but I'm currently typing from College. Both links are blocked-out on my end, so I'll have to wait until I get home. I only saw a single sprite on Google Images that appeared to be Ayumi. It's genetic looking; it looks like a typical modern style that's a bit more on the cartoony side with a touch of chibi-ness, which sadly I think takes a bit of realism out from the environmental looks of the original. The plot, the characters, the 90's style, the flowchart and especially the music were initially my favourite parts of the game (basically every aspects, you can tell eh? ), but I've yet to listen to the remake of any of the songs. In the end though, whether it's as good as the original (kind of doubting) or not, I'll still play it for remeniscence, for sure~ EDIT: I looked at the new sprites. I'm not a big fan of the new look... but that won't stop me from playing it anyway since the original Yu-No is still my favourite story of all time. About Yu-No's ears: Her ears do appear too "elvish" in the remake that new players might already be spoiled about the existance of another humanoid race apart humans, which were subtle throughout most of the game and on the cover up until the ending when we see her character development. We'll see if her hair will still cover those ears at the start of the plot to hide that fact. There's something great about the idea how players are led to think that the story only involves around humans and their earthly world, aside the mysterious Hypersense Stone that—when introduced—starts to raise questions, letting players speculate on the stone's origins and thus makes the game "the mysterious Sci-fi thriller" that it should be.
